And MA Ulm needs to get oboes to counter, even if for some reason the devs clearly never actually played an oboe before and made them suck, when they should be the dominant instrument, historically speaking.

This thread is silly. You people have completely gone off topic.

I have to side with the bagpipe on this one. I took my family to a world culture festival and the building was loaded with people. A dude started playing the bagpipes and had a guy following him with a bass drum. The whole room went quiet and took notice.

I never realized how loud a bagpipe really is. It's definitely a look-at-me instrument.

I heard someone playing a bagpipe in the music practice rooms at my school.

A few hours later, notices have been put up saying that bagpipes are prohibited from the practice rooms.

Re: Bagpipes vs. Oboes

When discussing bagpipes, one must account for the historical cover up that's been applied to it's importance. And that the Vatikan banned bagpipes out of fear they could be the instrument of rebellion.

Few people know for example that a large number of bagpipes was found near Waterloo, but that discovery was quickly silenced and the bagpipes confiscated by the "Department of musical security", later confirmed not to exist.

The English also banned the bagpipes, shortly after the Jacobite uprising. Therefore bagpipes>oboes.

I knew this would be resurrected after seeing it re-posted in Crossbows vs Longbows.

I also like this thread.

Re: Bagpipes vs. Oboes

Is there a relationship between pitch and penetration? Bagpipes have higher pitch on the highest drones versus Oboes. This should suggest that Scots have greater penetration than frenchmen.
