Meanwhile, the enemy armor seems to be trying to get reorganized, but with limited success. A good thing to as the AP and HEAT ammunition of the StuGs is all but gone.

The Russian attack in the north has finally been broken. Our pioniers can now bring their weapons into action in order to keep them on the run.

Our StuGs advance, but this is mainly for show. They have little that can be accomplished in a fight with the KVs, but in any event Ivan no longer has the stomach for a fight.

With the enemy forces thrown back, the Luftwaffe was able to deal with those KVs at a later time. Smolensk was eventually taken, and our kampfgruppe awaited orders to move east as soon as conditions allowed. To our surprise, the next set of orders called for movement not to the east, but southwest. The push on Moscow would have to be delayed as we were given a new task in a very different location.
