Re: Bigger fonts mod

Yes, many thanks for this mod. Much better than standard font.
Probably you can include the font as a standard in the next patch.

Re: Bigger fonts mod

My feedback is that I prefer version 3 of the font. Version 4 is too big on the scenario screen as you say, and even on the other ones I think it looks uglier. I run at desktop resolution which is 1600x900 for me. I was originally very discouraged because the text was so small it was almost unreadable to my mature eyes.

Re: Bigger fonts mod

There will not be a change to the game this time around for those fonts. To do this "right" requires extensive adjustments to the placement of the text on screen and we had too much on our plates this time around to deal with an issue near and dear to only 3 or 4 dozen players so if you have installed the fix when the new patch is extracted you will keep those same altered fonts you DLed

However, next year we will be doing some reorganization of the game screens and those new fonts and the required changes to the code will be included

This mod is a very good short-term solution to let us wait with comfort for a better one in future.

PS. As always I'm waiting curiously for the changelog.

Re: Bigger fonts mod

v3 is more beautiful, but I use v4 as it is more readable on my monitor.
I use a 1920x1080, but 21.5" only, so I set DPI to 144 ('normal'+50%)
640x480 non-combat screens are really small on my monitor..

Hi DRG,

Thanks for your alternative fonts. I tried them all.

Please find below my feedback:

1) In terms of look and feel: I much prefer the default font even if it is small. Small can be beautiful!:D

2) In terms of legibility: it depends!

I run Window 7 at 1920x1200 because:
- It is the native resolution of my monitor and hence the optimal resolution for font rendition (they are not distorted)
- I get a wider view of the map with a good rendition of the terrain and unit icons

I have no problem reading the Message_Information_Bar along the top of the screen and Unit_Information_Bar along the bottom of the screen. The reasons are:
- The contrast between the colour of the font and the color of the background are good
- The density (spacing and amount of text) of the different texts are reasonable and good

However the Unit_Information_Screen, the Headquarters_Menu, Scenario_List and all opening screens alike, are very hard to read because the spacing is quite narrow and there is a large amount of text.

In a future patch, please consider increasing the spacing and maybe the font size in all the opening screens.

Nowadays large monitors and high resolutions tend to become the norm.

Thanks.

LOL. This is kinda like deja vu all over again. I'm not complaining because the problem, really, is my old eyes and not something you've done.

I have a 1920x1080 monitor and have gone back to using 1024x768 for SP. Using any of the font mods causes too much spillover for my taste. All the fonts at this resolution including those in pop-up windows, top and bottom bars, formation IDs, etc are just right. So perhaps you might consider using those as models. Same with the function icons and mini-map on the right side. Thank you for looking at this again. I hope it works out this year.
