Re: Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension Announced!
Will it ever be on Steam?

Re: Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension Announced!
I expect it will be, if Conquest of Elysium 3 is any indication. However, I do not have any solid information on that.

Re: Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension Announced!
Will spells like lichcraft turn the caster or a commander into a lich, like in CoEIII? I always thought that was missing in Dom3, and was pleased to see it in CoEIII. I would be thrilled to see it in DomIV
That sort of thing is like bliss to thematic players such as myself. |
Re: Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension Announced!
can i ask about dom4 features?
1. What about supporting Multicore CPU ? in dom3 even with 8 gb ram and 2gb videocard - turns at the late game - was too slow operatable 2. What about to move to a mod-able feature - the world limit of units? or up it to unlimit? If i take a play, trying to maximize the world map, so and the playing opponents - it runs to limit to about 100-150 turn and halves all fun 3. What about small redesign of the magic item treasury - of artifacts (make it bigger, so make a scroll bar or somelike to it) because the limit is to small for global crafting - so i can't construct big number of arts at oneturn (they just dissapear). and about the global enchantments table - okay if only one force can cast one uniqe spell (but why not if they influence just only their dominion?) - but there is the other problem - number of global spells are much bigger, than it could accomodate. Could it be bigger? or mod-able? thanks! ps. pre-ordered! with great wishes! |
Re: Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension Announced!
1) Yes, there is multicore support
2) Not moddable, but the limit issue has autoresolution built into the engine. 3) No answer to whether there should be more space for globals. |

Than, about 2nd Question I've tested the biggest map with maximization of res and income So there, it caps very fast. Could you say how autoresolution work? Province number counts? I love big and long-term evolution, so the big battles, where magic and morale have their real force - and that make the main problem to me - where to stop to understand that limit wouldn't be reached& Because if it is reached - the game lose it's meaning at all, and i must restart for new. Big armies AI could build and use against only if it has formidable resourses, so thats the problem. |
Re: Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension Announced!
Great News!
Is there going to be a "regular" version of game with kick *** manual like Dominions 3? It seems that pre-ordering is only for a download version of the game. Thanks! |
Re: Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension Announced!
Boxed copies are not an option that has been much discussed. I expect that the low volume of demand and the costs of printing etc would at least double the price. You're more likely to get a much better deal of using some kind of print-on-demand service.
The manual is likely to be just as hefty as the Dominions 3 manual, if not more so. The modding manual is twice the length of the old one, with well over half of the extra pages being new stuff. As far as further inquiries, I suggest keeping an eye on Desura and Dom3Mods. I don't come around here nearly as much anymore because of the lack of traffic since the switch to Desura. |
Re: Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension Announced!
Holy moly, stumbled upon a LP for this game on youtube just at random. Spent 100's of hours with 3, and figured it was a given a 4 would never come out (at least that was the prevailing wisdom). Graphics don't look any better, but I love these guys so much and all the love they put into 3 that I would buy it even if it was the exact same game in a shiny new box just to say "thank you". Wonder if that one pixel art map one of the devs has been working on for 5 years will make it into the game :D.
Anyway, I was just curious about Desura. I've never used it. I get most of my games from Steam but one thing I liked about Dom3 was the fact that it was independent of a digital service. I could install it and play it "offline". I also loved the manual but realize the cost situation. It's too bad though because digital manuals are never easy to read and they truly pale in comparison - which is why most AAA games nowadays just have built in "manuals" where stuff is explained when you hover mouse over specific buttons/commands. Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes is a good example of this. Regardless, I really don't want to clutter my computer up with a bunch of digital download services. I don't mind downloading the game, but then I want it to be mine without having to access a service to play it. Will there be any option for that? Thanks! |
Re: Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension Announced!
Wow, good news! How long is it in development? They still have regular jobs, right? Looking forward to this, Dom2 and Dom3 multiplayer was so much fun for me in the past.
