Gone a bit off topic but have to say apart from when they first came through my wisdoms been my least problematic teeth. No pain no work done.

Lost a front fang in 1988. The replacement insert cost $500.00. It fell out. Back to the dentist for a replacement. Another $500.00 thank you very much. It fell out again. I gave up.
Avoided dentists like the plague until I had to have a tooth pulled a couple of years ago. I was told to replace the front fang would now cost $6000.00. You can buy a decent car for that money.
The moral of the story is that if you want a comfortable retirement get your children into dental school at any cost.
Forget used car salesmen and real estate agents, compared to dentists they are models of probity and honesty.
Mediaeval robber barons could take lessons from dentists.

LOL you might be right remember my dentist from 20 odd years ago was taking helicopter lessons & he already owned a light plane.

Well, staring into people's mouths every day deserves some compensation...

Yes as "topic drifts" go this one has certainly been an overachiever ...(though it has been both informative and entertaining :))

Sometimes a trip down the rabbit hole can be both

Dental stories time?

I had one top front tooth broken off shortly before I went into the service and the family dentist just did essential work telling my parents "Let the military fix it for free." A couple years later while aboard ship the dentist was bored and came across my records so called me up and pulled what was left of the tooth and put in a post and cap I have to this day.

... well that one good news story at least. I just had a filling come out yesterday and I cannot feel where it was using my tongue which means it has to be on the back side of a wisdom tooth which means I'm going to have listen to the the "wiggle it out" speech again. :(

Don't ya just love it when fillings fall out for no apparent reason?

I'm popping in a movie (Watching my Jason Bourne series at one a week.) as I contemplate my 2 hour procedure, getting a crown put in the morning.

Before anyone might think about offering words of encouragement, wince at this thought, with no pain killers ever, except twice (The first one they had to break into 4 pieces as the root wrapped around the jaw bone. I remember being happy to see the shining dental chisel and big hammer in his hands.) when the USN pulled my wisdom teeth (Now you know what happened to me!?!). You volunteer for Sub Duty and they take away your wisdom-teeth.:D

Enjoy your dental nightmares!!!! That's:sick: :angel

I better stop while I'm behind, thank you both for correcting me.

Pat

Are you telling us you got into a ship DESIGNED to sink?
