In Gold the ships ignored the feet orders and reverted to thier type orders. So if the individual ships types had Don't Hurt me orders it worked as normal. I guess the next question is why the ships ignored their fleet orders. (and no 'Ships' was not selected in 'Types that break formation')

I think ships without regular weapons break formation, and thus (in Gold) use their design orders rather than fleet orders.

The default definitions of the different strategies vary from somewhat reasonable to downright stupid. You absolutely have to edit them to fit your playing style before using them.

Re: blockade............

Today I have a blockade question.

In one of my solo games, a lone ship orbiting a planet just mutinied.

Is there a way to order the weapon platforms on the planet to attack the blockading ship on my turn, or do I have to wait until the blockading ship attacks on the AI's turn?

All this "my turn" and "AI's turn" talk makes me think you are playing turn-based?
I don't play that, but you could always *try*
clicking on your planet and clicking the Attack button and clicking on the ship. You might get lucky. If the Attack button does not light up when you click the planet, you can try to fudge it by hitting the 'A' key...heh. Good luck.

Re: blockade............

You could try launching a few sats or something, see what happens..? Failing that, you'll just have to bring in ship or some fighters from a nearby planet.

Re: blockade............

Yep, it's turn-based, and the Attack order was the first thing I tried. It's a "frontier" planet, the nearest loyal ship is two or three turns' movement away. The planet doesn't have anything launchable in cargo.

Guess I have to let the mutineers come to me.

It would be best if it were ships using the 'don't get hurt' strategy which broke formation. Some ships which are supposed to run away might need a PDC or two, like carriers and troop transports, and currently putting that in makes them stay in fleet formation. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
