I still think its ironic I can run arcade, NES, Genesis and SNES games fine on my PC..but to run -PC- programs from the same era a lot of the time I need to drag out an old computer..the SNES emulator for example works, while even Moslo isn't enough for some old games- they think my hardware is not enough to run it! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

But i never actually finished all 7, I only played through 1 and part of 2. I started to port 1 to the TI-83 calculator though! problem is, the rendering of the wireframe view kinda too 8 seconds every step. not so hot. I guess if i weren't so lazy and wrote it in Z-80 assembly, it would run up to speed, but i kinda let the project drop. The chargen and combat running stuff was good for D&D after a little tweaking tho.

to Phoenix-D: yeah, i hate that, i have a bunch of classics I used to run on my Win3.1 machine (486DX, baby!), and no matter what i do, i can't make them work right on my 98 system. (props to 98 for being able to run almost all of them, but the speed is unmanageable. MoSlo is a great tool though, it has allowed me to keep a few oldies (anyone every heard of Fantasy Empires? Silicon Knights, SSI, TSR? sad, SSI and TSR are now owned by Ubi Soft and Wizards of the Coast, respectively, but Silicon Knights lives on!)

fantasy empires? i can't get the combat slow with mo'slo on 1%! what is the mhz requirement on that anyway?
note, it came from kmart in a 5-pack of other old games, so all i have is a code-sheet.

I liked playing with Bard's Tale Construction Set and Adventure Construction Set on my old comps (486DX and IBM XT, respectively), and I know..ACS is not really an RPG, but it's a lot of fun to me. Don't quite know where my copies of them ended up though http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif .

Ahh, the good old days of 5-1/4" floppies and Monochrome/CGA monitors... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Nor can I, and that's on my PII 350! But you pretty much have to run combat yourself, especially if you're attacking a castle, or for fun (Wheee, Magic User go BOOM!).
I played it originally on a 33 MHz 486DX Windows 3.1 machine. Along with a bunch of other classics. Once i got to the highest level, I decided to try to get to max level as fast as possible, and I started over - - - I made it in four campaigns. If your opponents are high-level enough (at least 10 levels > yours), you can really gain a lot of levels in one go! Higher level opponents aren't too terrible of a threat, they just get high-level heroes, which means that they get magic faster initially and get nasty artifacts. It really sucks when you have four huge masses of troops about to roll into enemy territory and suddenly all four get death spelled. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif If playing vs. high-level chaotic magic Users, never let troops sit in one place, unless you enjoy being whaled on.
The hardest scenarios were a decent challenge though.

It seems like the web sites that used to have ROMs you can download for Super Nintendo and other emulators are all gone. A year ago, there were all sorts of places where you can download old games for different game systems, but now when I try to go back the old bookmarked pages, either they've disappeared, or the sites don't have any downloads anymore. Maybe they got shut down because of copyright issues?
