There was a spider in my room once. I tried to obliterate him with a large and heavy trash can, but my friend stopped me. That night i woke up with spider bits on my arms. The next night I woke up and I swear, the spider was dangling inched away from my face.

I slept on the couch the next few days...
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">A wierd and wonderful statistic to keep you awake- I can't remember where I heard it, so it must be true.

Apparently, throughout your lifetime, you will inhale and eat something like 800 spiders in your sleep...

the number is much larger and refers to general insects - ive seen that statistic http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Kodos, this is a waste. If its a big and flying thing, get a can, can it, put a paper under. Then release outside. If its just a small bug (spider) get yourself a piece of soft paper (tissue paper) and carefully put it ontop, squeeze, grab, remove, throw to trash bin.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That's what I usually do! Only, I use a glass, and run it on small bugs and crawlers as well as fliers. Most insects are actually quite benifical, and squashing them just means cleaning bug juice out of the carpet/wall/table/whatever. Trapping them and releasing them alive avoids that.

well, i actually meant a glass bottle or whatever - its just the more convenient. And the worst thing about bugs is they're realy messy creatures - leave lotsa juice. there's even a song on that on russian, translated without rhymes:

"i caught myself a bug
without a trap, without a net
and now my hand
is all in blood of that bug"

I usually grab a glass because they are transparent; I can confirm that I actually have the bug, and can watch it crawl onto the paper I slid under the glass so I don't need to injure it in trapping it. Besides, a surprising number of crawling insects have difficulty climbing the inside surface of a drinking glass; it's a mild added measure of security against needing to catch the bug again immediately.

And that would be so unfortunate.

[edit: posting in a two page thread from the oldest page...]

I find and relocate (or kill, depending on various things) a spider once every three days or so in my house. I just bought it, so I have some idea of how it may have been kept before. I don't know what the spiders are doing to feed themselves, but there sure are a lot of them. No Widows, yet, so no worries: spider bites during sleep are par.

I can sympathize with having a buggy new house. Ours was overrun with various bugs when we moved in. Of course, my wife also had to sweep the top of the refrigerator off with a broom before she could dust it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

And often the countries with the poorest have the largest population. So the **** that happens there will affect the average more then what happens in modern countries like the US, Canada, Britain, ETC ETC.
