Other suggestions for Juri to try when PBW comes back up:

1) Clear your browser's Cache, or 2) reboot your computer.

3. I tried uploading from 3 different computers (win 98, 2000, xp, different IE Versions)
4. I even got 2 friends of mine to try and upload it. (one from New Zeeland and one from Slovenia) they both said the page just "clouldnŽt upload the file ...
<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Sounds to me like it is the .plr file that is the problem, NOT the browser. Is it reasonable to play the turn again? If you can, try to upload the new .plr file.

I can't access it either.
when I trace the IP, I get timed out.
I trace via amsterdam, london, NY, chicago and get timed out on the connection that comes after srp1-0.kttroh1-ubr2.woh.rr.com.
How does this work for you jurij? (type tracert seiv.pbw.cc in MSDOS)

Juri, I have turned off auto processing so your turn should not run just yet. If you still can't get the .plr file to upload, email it to me and I'll give it a try. You don't have to withdraw from teh game, but tell me what game it is. I couldn't find it in the eariler Posts.

Maybe he should try to NOT use IE... if it doesn not work with any Version of IE it *might* be a bit rash to conclude that it will only work with IE...
Except for a few javascript commands that work only with IE (and are not recommended to use anyway) there should be no problem when using any other brother than IE.

The real problem might be, though, a corrupt database or invalid entry - undo turn only half done with some flags still set that make PBW refuse to accept a new turn, for instance. But this could only be solved by Geo himself, and may not be simple.

Geo it is the game

3rd Cross-galaxy Transwarp access Hub

player number 1

and it is on automatic turns..

Yuri... I suggest you place the game on no auto until resolved.

Another suggestion is to email your turn to some one and your login and password to pbw ( set up a temp one )

And see if they can upload it with no problems

I will do that if you like seiv at symaptico dot ca.

Re: ****PBW Status****

I was able to log in as Juri and upload a turn, so there is no problem with the server. Of course the problem could have been server related and be rebooting it today might have fixed it. I suppose if Juri is able to upload ok now then that's what it was.

It's possible it's someting to do with the specific .plr file you are trying to upload, but I think that is unlikely. PBW doesn't do anysort of file verification, other then to make sure it has the right name. You could upload an empty file and PBW would take it if it had the right name. I can't imagine why that would cause 500 error.

I also tried to upload "a" turn from another game that I renamed "transwarp_0001.plr"; and it worked. I guess the .plr file must be currupt in some way. IŽll redo my turn and try and upload it again.

thanks for the help.

Ok, I did my turn again and the new .plr file generated uploads withouth any difficulty. That means that the PBW server is in some way sensitive to "corrupt" files...maybe it does some other checkig besides the name of the file..

anyways thanks for the help again. cya

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Well, it might be that. But did you actually try uploading your original .plr file again after the server got rebooted? If not then we can't say definitevly what the problem was. It may have been a server problem like you suspected, but only limited to your game or something. Either way though, I guess the important thing is it's working now.

It seems that PbW has taken a more active stance on its hate for Hotmail, and it currently trying to kill my account. I have recieved the five hundred kilobyte new turn for NGC5 five, count them five times so far today.

First two times in ten minutes at around five this morning, then three times in fifteen minutes just now.

Not sure what might be done about this, but it is somewhat vexing.

Re: ****PBW Status****

We haven't changed anything in the code. I am not sure what's up with this Hotmail problem. I got several hundred email bounces again this weekend. As far as I know PBW does not attempt to resend an email if it fails the first time. Although I cannot say for sure that the service we use to send emails doesn't do that. Just like a person, once you send an email and it gets to your isp, you don't have any control over what happens then.

I don't really understand what's going on. It definetly seems limited to people with Hotmail accounts though, as far as I have heard.

Loser May 4th, 2004 09:22 PM

Re: ****PBW Status****

Seven times now, although since I can really only fit tow of them in the account, there's no telling how many additional times it's tried to cram one of them in there.

Still, I understand if there isn't much that can be done about it.

Not sure what that is.

But it's only NGC5 that's doing it right now, so it might have something to do with the game as well.

Unless we coudl follow every one all the way through, or unless I posted all the header information and someone interpreted it, we're going to have a bit of a time pinning any of that down.
