Re: The New Game: The Revenge

My weekdays are really busy, since I have to devote that time to my research.

Norfleet March 14th, 2004 07:21 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

So, how's about we cruise at quickhost until next Friday, then continue the bloodbath in force?

Truper March 14th, 2004 06:32 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Sounds good to me.

Norfleet March 14th, 2004 07:44 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Welp, now the next turn will come with the Mivayanian Empire has moved.

Norfleet March 15th, 2004 01:35 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

The Revenge continues to await the return of the Mivayan. I don't suppose anyone's seen him anywhere? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

I took my turn.

Norfleet March 15th, 2004 10:26 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

After a brief server crash, the Revenge is up again and awaiting turn 56.

Norfleet March 16th, 2004 08:11 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

The following have yet to take turn 56:
Pangaea, Vanheim, and R'lyeh.

Norfleet March 16th, 2004 07:33 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Now we're just waiting on Truper before turn 57.

Truper March 17th, 2004 12:34 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Turn 57 is up.

Norfleet March 17th, 2004 04:49 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Turn 58 is now waiting on the Mivayanian Empire.

Norfleet March 17th, 2004 07:00 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Turn 58 is now up.

Norfleet March 17th, 2004 09:57 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Well, the weekend draws nigh, Truper is apparently on the server taking his turn now, and Mivayan for some reason didn't take his next turn along with the turn we were waiting for. Maybe he's waiting for something?

Anyway, the game resumes in force on Friday, like Last time: What's the earliest everyone can show?

mivayan March 17th, 2004 11:49 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

I'll think about it for a day or so, but I might drop out before the long friday night game.

Norfleet March 18th, 2004 12:03 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Won't be able to make it, or planning to wimp out? If it's a scheduling problem, we may be able to work around that. But remembers: Quitters never win, winners never quit.

Truper March 18th, 2004 12:24 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Anytime on Friday should be good for me. I'll work around others...

Norfleet March 18th, 2004 12:38 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Now all that remains before turn 59 is for the Truperian Empire and Tujish Empires to send in their moves.

Norfleet March 18th, 2004 12:51 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Now the Tujish Empire is all that remains to take its turn.

Norfleet March 18th, 2004 02:16 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Turn 59 is due very imminently, since Tujin is in the process of completing his turn as I write this. This is almost like Christmas!

Norfleet March 18th, 2004 02:38 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Turn 59 is here. Let's all take our turns now.

Norfleet March 18th, 2004 03:36 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Turn 60 is now waiting on the Mivayanian and Truperian Empires. I'm assuming Truper will complete his turn momentarily, since he's still on the server, so we'll be waiting mostly on Mivayan, though.

The earliest we should be able to begin on Friday is ~1600 EST, when Tujin returns. Is this time acceptable to everyone?

Graeme Dice March 18th, 2004 03:39 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

The earliest I could make it is probably 1800-1830 EST.

Norfleet March 18th, 2004 03:45 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

1800 EST it is, then.

Unless, of course, Mivayan's schedule looks even worse...

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Wimping out. Turns out I dont enjoy staying up all night to think hard as much as I had thought. Might have been a misstake to join another marathon game with people living 6 timezones west of me.

I'll stick to smaller maps for multiplayer in the future where I dont run out of ideas before finding the enemy http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Norfleet - judging from the powers your mad priest Gobrusius got when he blessed himself, you started with 10 in all magic paths. He got ALL the bless powers. Is this a special power of mad priests or a bug?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Really? Let me watch that again. I know I have all 10 magic paths NOW, after extensive wish madness, but I certainly didn't start with that, that would be impossible.

Norfleet March 18th, 2004 09:00 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Yeah, I see it too. Either it's a mad priest thing, or a weird bug. I'll have to start watching my mad priests more closely, see if this happens in other games and battles.

Unfortunately, Gobrusius is dead now, so I guess I won't be seeing any MORE from him, thanks to you. Although now I know who killed him and Trakhtor! You bastard!

OH, GOBRUSIUS! I PINE FOR YOU!
You will be avenged!

Well, now we're just waiting on the Graemish Empire, as the Tujish Empire should upload soon, as I'm speaking to him right now.

Norfleet March 19th, 2004 02:14 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

And it appears Turn 61 is upon us. yay us.

If there are no complaints, tomorrow we will begin in force at 1800 EST.

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Ctis just attacked me with a celestial serveant leading a bunch of celestial soldiers (t'ien ch'i national summons), and he didn't wish for them. Odd.

Norfleet March 19th, 2004 02:46 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Those must have been the Celestial Apostates, a mercenary company. Given that they are no longer on the mercenary board, I'm going to have to assume that they are now KIA.

Norfleet March 19th, 2004 05:09 AM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

The game is currently waiting on the Tujish and Truperian Empires.

Actually, you know, I find this kind of pace somewhat relaxing. If anyone(such as Mivayan) doesn't feel like going on a 5-hour gruelathon for the night, feel free to call a break after maybe 2 or 3 hours, and we can continue plodding along like this. It helps me write my AAR submissions, not to mention I can spend all day psychoanalyzing you all for what you'll do next. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Now we're just waiting for Truper, which will probably be the Last turn before we kick off the weekend sessions.

Kelan March 19th, 2004 04:11 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

If you try to limit it to 2-3 hour sessions for the next game, I think I can make it. I still haven't tried the world map, though. I guess I better try that out tonight and this weekend to make sure my download of the map worked and to get a little familiar with it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif .

For purpose of planning the next game, if you get one going, I am available from 1700 to 2200 EST weekdays, and 0800 to 2000 EST on weekends. I would still like to limit the game sessions to 2-3 hours a day though if possible.

Truper March 19th, 2004 05:39 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

I doubt there will be a weekend session - the living nations have concluded that you just can't fight free troops on this scale. While I killed 500 carrion... things over the past few turns, that wasn't really accomplishing anything. I doubt I've had 500 troops over the entire course of the game...

I learned a few things, and had fun, but I've concluded that the world map is just too limiting. And hats off to Norfleet and Tuijin - their strategy for the conditions is perfect, and in fact, in my opinion, undefeatable.

Obligatory excuse from a loser: remind me to ask for a restart when the order bug hits at the beginning of a monster game - when one puts 200 nation design points into order and growth, and doen't get full benefit from it from turns 2 through 21, ones trajectory is severely impaired...

Norfleet March 19th, 2004 06:50 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Well, like the saying goes, it ain't over till the fat lady sings. Free carrion things are probably not as great as you'd believe: You have, after all, killed them by the hundreds, without even deliberately trying to exploit their weaknesses.

Ultimately, death is the bride of the warrior.

mivayan March 19th, 2004 08:55 PM

Re: The New Game: The Revenge

Ok, I am giving up, went computer controlled.

At least I got to almost kill one other player http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

I really should stick to smaller maps.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Good to know. I'm thinking of planning the next game with a marathon weekend for kickoff(because everyone knows the start of a game flies quickly and is drudgerous otherwise, with nothing to fiddle with), followed by lapsing into quickhost on 2-3 turns a day.

In the meantime, barring complications, it looks like the Revenge will continue its course tonight, for what may be the final showdown. Or something.

Norfleet March 19th, 2004 11:51 PM

Well, we got about 10 minutes go. Hope everyone who's still with us shows.
