Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
Hmm, I don't see Atlantis "easily" taking land provinces. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif R'lyeh, maybe. I am not an expert R'lyeh player, but even since Dom 1, Atlantis has always been my favourite nation.
Anyway, I hope for a bloody battle. Maybe the underwater players ally to scourge the lands of those evil beasties. *hint, hint, nudge nudge* Who was playing Atlantis again? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
The HOF is still set to 10!? I thought wanted the big one, considering that there are even more than 10 pretenders around...
|
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
and dont we need to finish voting on the map? it seems to me 2 were still tied.

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
well, i think cainehill must have gotten me drunk Last night or something, since i vaguely remember agreeing to exchange the mighty and fearsome spiderfolk for some ragtag bunch of unwashed forest-hippies
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif so i'll try to figure out a pretender today and upload before tomorrow. edit: i actually prefer the normal Karan, at least in the present situation. lake access is nice, but not especially troubling in my mind. Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
I also prefer "normal" Version. Otherwise, one of the water nations is likely to end up dead in the water (in the middle of the land)
|
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
Since I know Karan's strategic layout much better on the normal Version, that's what I vote for, too.
|
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
i too, vote for the normal Version.

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
I've changed the HOF to 15... I thought I had done that already, but I hadn't. Thanks for pointing this out!
I've kept the Karan map, because it is my impression that that one has more votes, but as you don't care to update the actual vote, I can't be sure without tedious counting. So, if anybody feels strongly about this, please do the counting for me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif We're missing 3 players currently --- because I will kick anonymous players before starting. I will start the game in 36 hours regardless of status... that should be plenty of time for anybody. Maps: (only the two runner-ups) (lots of votes missing) Karan: Karacan, Chazar, Tauren Karan dry Version: Daynarr, Turms, Cainehill Nations, crosschecked with server: Vanheim: Mark the Merciful (not uploaded) Marignon: rabelais (not uploaded) Pangaea: wolfkinsov (uploaded) Machaka: cainehill (uploaded) R'lyeh: Karacan (uploaded) Ermor: Cheezeninja (uploaded) Man: archaeolept (uploaded) Mictlan: Vicious Love (uploaded) Abysia: Pickles (uploaded) Caelum: Chazar (uploaded) Tien chi: alexti (uploaded) Pythium: Turms (uploaded, but anonymous) Arco: esben (uploaded) Jotunheim: KroolDeath (uploaded) C'tis: liga (uploaded) Ulm: Daynarr (uploaded) Atlantis: Biteme (uploaded) Uploaded:14 Uploaded by anonymous: 1 Not uploaded: 2 Free: 0 P.S: Thanks for uploading the Karan-dry! Making a copy is just the right way, yes http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif I don't mind the extra megabytes, and it makes tracking so much easier... |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
Sorry for being one of the laggards.
I'll have a Pretender up by 8pm (BST) this evening. Mark |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
Update:
Maps: (only the two runner-ups) (lots of votes missing) Karan: Karacan, Tauren Karan dry Version: Daynarr, Turms, Cainehill, Chazar Arent the inland-lakes marked as nostart-provinces to avoid a water-nation being screwed up right from the start? |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
I'll just add a few off the votes below (yes, I should be working instead). Currently, the un-dry people have it... I've actually decided to cast my vote with the majority for no definitive reason.
Update: Maps: Karan (7): Karacan, Tauren, archaeolept, alexti, Cheezeninja, esben, The_Tauren13 Karan dry Version(4): Daynarr, Turms, Cainehill, Chazar Arent the inland-lakes marked as nostart-provinces to avoid a water-nation being screwed up right from the start? [/QB][/quote] |

Not to be oppositional, but I vote for the dry Version.
I think being protected from the overly serried land fray is more than enough advantage for the swimmers. Rabe |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
I'm not suggesting it be changed at this late date, but...
why do people like score graphs on? Seems like it takes a lot out of the game, since pile-on is automatic, rather than learned, and then persuaded. Rabe the Opaque http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif [ July 28, 2004, 16:03: Message edited by: rabelais ] |

You're right though - in most games, if one nations gets too huge (twice or more as many provinces as the next largest), everyone seems to dogpile them, rapidly reducing them to the bottom of the pack. Then again - how much of that is the graph, and how much is that the person over-expanded and never consolidated her gains? |

Everything looking peachy. Esben, would you start the game? Thread title already (prophetically) changed accordingly.

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
I have allowed client's (that's all of us http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif ) to start the game. Any of you can start it now; and I will when I get home sometime.. in less than 2 hours.
This should be very interesting http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif Good luck, everyone! |

oh lord what a horrendous starting location http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif
one land province to expand to, which seems itself adjacent to another capitol. After that, it is adjacent to only one other territory, which is adjacent to what looks like 3 capitols. lol++ i think this mapfile could have done w/ a few more nostarts http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif one of the water nations looks to be in big trouble too, so at least i'm not alone http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif [ July 29, 2004, 15:35: Message edited by: archaeolept ] |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
well i guess those crowns aren't all capitols. but having provinces w/ only one land border not flagged as nostart is definitely sucky.
|
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
What are the crowns, exactly.
We were talking about them in the thread for that other game you hosted for us (the one you didn't join). Krool |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
The crowns are victory points. Collect 12 to win the game :-D

Heh, thanks.

Having capitals as VPs just brings us back to another serious flaw, imo, which is that capitals should not show up as VPs. For that matter - VPs should need to be scouted, or at least a switch for it. |

And we're off to a very fun start. The first turn is done. I prophetize early death to at least one waternation.

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
Whoops, didn't realize I was holding turn 2 off for about a full day or so. Sorry, people. First time experiencing the miracle of quickhost. First proper multiplayer game, too.
At least the score graphs say I'm not the only nation still stuck with one province. |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
Also, upon analyzing My First Diplomatic Missive, I appear to be channeling the Utwig from StarCon II. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
Hi all,
my wife get some unexpected holidays so probably I'll have to move away from the net from 13-08 to 22-08 ... I have tryed to find someone who could take my place for this 5 turns in the circle of friend I used to play Dom2, but I was unlucky ... I'll play until 12-08 and after that, if I don't find anyone who could take my place for 9 days (just 4-6 turns) I'll have to revert to AI controlled. I'm very sorry about that becouse I really like that slow game ... I hope to find someone before my left ... if some one of you have a frined interessed to play just 4-6 turns of C'tis, please, drop me an email at liga(AT)treemme(DOT)org good play Liga |

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
yeah, just your welcome page will tell you (as long as it recognizes you). However, if there are no turns for you to do, nothing will show up.

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow
Hello all, this game has started quite nice and has been keeping a very good pace. However, I have one concern.
Am I correct that only 12 victory points are needed to win and that there are 37 vps total on the map? I fear that the game will end too soon. Was this intentional and can the victory conditions still be adjusted? I would think that at least something like 20+ victory points would be better... Good luck to all my opponents http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
Hmmm. Looks like two (more) LONG stales coming up http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
Anyone want to elect a tempsub and use the Master Password? Rabe who appreciates liga's cold-blooded, but COME ON!!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
Well, noone wanted to jump in as a temporary replacement. :/
Apparently, though, we're going to have to wait for him to return. Which is too bad, since the game is getting into an interesting stage. Who's Pangaea again? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow game? *full and running**
I'm back! The Lizards again have a God! ... I have lost some time, but not too much ... I'm still in condition to enjoy playing that game and run for good positions!
good play! Ligha'sss |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow
this games been so slow ive forgotten whats going on...
but hey, thats the point of the game; to be slow |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow
yah it did just go through something like rigor mortis.
but hallelujah, liga has come back, and now it should get back to it's sprightly 2 1/2 days routine ;-) Oh, I would like to note for all concerned that I, Man, am resisting the mighty and oppressive t'ien chi. If there are any others who wish to throw off the cruel yoke of t'ien chi's evil queen, know that you have a steadfast friend in Man. |
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow
Let's not all act surprised when the "*really* slow game" runs, well, really slowly.
|
Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow
Yes ... I'm back to work (wher I have my main dom2 installation) ... so I could stratr to play again quickly!
Sorry all for the delay in this 10 days! good play Ligha'sss |
