Re: For 5hit5 and giggles
Now that is a Captitol ship!
|
Re: For 5hit5 and giggles
The smaller windows mean that the second ship is a LOT bigger than the first one! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Re: For 5hit5 and giggles
Unless that race only stands three inches high! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Rag Tag Fleet.
Hi I am really really new. I don't even have the game yet. I did get DOGA to start designing ships. I have questions on size of the ships and texturing. First texturing. What is it and how do you do it? Next is there a size for the ships to be used?

I created a type of Death Star. I named it Koala. I am not sure how to attach it. Do I have to have it on a web site? Note: It is not textured since I have no clue.
I will try to attach a file. The file worked. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks. I hope to have the game soon. |

There is a tutorial about ship set design on the Gold CD and a link to it in the New Members Read sticky thread. The size of all protrait images must be 128 x 128 Size of mini images must be 36 X 36. In most cases I render my images at 1000 x 1000 and then resize to 128 or 36. I then open them in Paint and check for masking issues. Masking issues are the black area around your model. If it is not all black, your model when it passes through a nebula will look really bad. Again read the ship set tutorial. DOWNLOAD LINK It should help a little. |

When I design, I always try to make the Battleship first. Then work my up and down the list. Making ship sets is a lot of fun. DOGA is a great tool to use and many people have created some very impressive work with it. |

Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
You'll get there.
And I know the show, but what I do not know was were, and when, it was produced. Any insights? |
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
All I see is question marks, except the Last pic.
|
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
hmm... I guess I can't link to them from outside the page, eh... give me a day to set up a preview page or something....

Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
Hugh!!
Dude those picture links are dead, they go to a spambot page. My popup blocker and antivirus went off at the same time and crashed me. Make it stop! Turin (edit: I really like the dragonfly thing, whatever it is) |
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
I can now throw in a couple more ships that I orginally had planned on using for the Saturians, but opted to replace them.

Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
After doing so research and finally playing the game. I see I have a lot of work to do. Thanks for the tolerence of my first post.
AT sorry I didn't write you back. I was trying to work with all the stuff. Oh and play SEIV. The AI was killing me. I had 10 computer players and they smashed me. So much to learn. I am going to start a topic on some question I have. There is too much on this board to find everything. |
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet

Is the list posted a few pages back still accurate? If it is we still need one transport and maybe one fighter? Some of AT's random ships posted could fill out the fighter Category.
Attached is a transport. Sample image. Turin |

Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
Aside from the fact that this needed a bump http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif , this one is for everyone who keeps calling DOGA nothing more than a Lego builder.
http://img84.exs.cx/img84/8994/lego6fd.png Ha! Now that is a Lego ship! Made with 3DSMax. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
Hahaha... LOL!
Good one Nodachi. I know someone who designed ALL Lego blocks in SolidWorks and mode a nice buidlingplan for a model he himself designed. He send it to Lego and got a job as kitdesigner. It was his lifedream. |
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
Well, it's not much of a model but that wasn't really the point. AT and the others who use DOGA produce some amazing results and it always seemed to me to be disrespectful to them to call DOGA a Lego builder. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
|
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
No-one can ever disrespect Lego, Best thing those Danes ever gave the world http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
|
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
Like any good engineer I played with it since I was a child (I still am... playing with Lego and a child, hehe).
Lego rocks! |
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
The thing is, if your models don't come from one of the "Known" programs like 3ds, they are considered second rate childs endevours and looked down upon by the industry people. Its like they are insulted that a $40.00 program can out do their $6,000 one.
It doesn't take a doctrate to learn how to use DOGA, but it sure as hell seems like you need one to learn how to use 3ds or other. |
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
Absofreakinlutely! You said it AT!
But I'm still proud to be the owner of a copy of max 7... |
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
Well once you learn it, you can become the offical forum 3ds instructor. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
And congrats. I hear it is an exceptionally expensive product to have boughten. |

Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
You can just barely make out the struts from this angle, but I can see them.
Great job! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
I can see one thing that might be a strut.
|
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
I really ike the texture. Nice work TC.
|
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
Before I give off the wrong impression, I like it too.
|
Re: Building the RagTag Fleet
Nice ship, and it looks like a low poly model so it stands a chance that it can be converted and used in SE5. Are you preparing to do some SE5 modding? If so, that's a good start.
Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
