Well, we have all played our turn, but it shows that it's still waiting for Man to take his final turn. I think.

Re: new turn is up

I have a technical question.
Since the turns are getting to large for one sitting I'd have liked to be able to be able to give orders and be able to save them so that I can continue later.

Is to possible to press the 'save and quit' instead of end turn and then be able to continue later? If I'm the last player to take the turn in a quick host wouldn't that trigger a hosting?

TIA

Re: new turn is up

No, you should connect to the game instead of prssing on the button of your nation(before the messages), you press exit, goto "play an existing game" and find there your PowerOfTheEye.

When your ready just connect to the server again and enjoy the "your turn has been uploaded" or such message.

*cheers*

Looks like Arco is about to stale this turn (3 min left until hosting).

Did Arco stale?

Maybe we should delay the next hosting by a couple of days? Give catquiet some time before he stales again.

I think it's fair we wait a bit for catquiet to respond.
Griffin, can you please delay the hosting for another 48 hours?

OKi, gameoptions are changed.

Great, we hate to see someone stale so late in the game, if it can be avoided.

Re: new turn is up

Sorry about the stale turns, we got hit pretty hard by the hurricane down in North Lauderdale. I'm running on a generator at the moment and I don't think I will be able to finish up the game. Switch me over to AI or get a sub. I messaged my password to griffin.

WraithLord October 29th, 2005 02:22 PM

Re: new turn is up

I'm sorry to hear about your problem with the hurricane.
Hope you'll get back to normal life soon.

I vote for switching Arco to AI. I'm not sure we can get a willing sub for Arco at it's current situation.
What do you say guys?

WraithLord October 29th, 2005 02:40 PM

Re: new turn is up

I saw that turn 71 has hosted.
Is it because Arco is already AI?

Edit,
I checked and Arco has not played turn 72. If it was AI it would have already played it.
So I guess the hosting wasn't expected.

Re: new turn is up

I believe we have waited long enough. I want to end this game while I still have my teeth on http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Does anyone object to switching Arco to AI and returning to 48 h schedule?
@Griffin, If there are no objections can you please do that?

Nice job

Just wanted to to give props to Shmonk, I haven't seen anyone do well in MP with regular Ulm before.

Shmonk November 12th, 2005 01:19 AM

Re: Nice job

Thanks...

Of course, I just made a BIG mistake. I had to go out of town for a last minute work trip Thursday, and that got extended to Friday. So I get back and check all my turns, thinking I submitted them all before I left.. and didn't submit a turn for this game. I think I made 3 or 4 moves Wed night before leaving, expecting to be back Thursday night to finish the rest of the turn. ARGH!! So I basically did nothing for a turn.

But hey, my treasury is really high this turn. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

WraithLord November 15th, 2005 05:59 PM

Re: Nice job

The turns are..taking...so....loooooong!

We are at turn 79 now. Maybe it's just that I'm slow but for the last turn I've exceeded the two hours limit.

Well, win or lose my hopes are for a quick ending.

Though, it doesn't seem likely to happen http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

so here's to the completion of turn 79 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image.../beerglass.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image.../beerglass.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image.../beerglass.gif

Shmonk November 15th, 2005 10:23 PM

Long turns

I know, I didn't know it could take this long for each turn. Now I can see why people say in the forums that they don't like big maps as much. I mean I'm having fun, but easily 2 hours, because I get distracted, or I think of different things and change all my orders, plus I kind of like the micromgmt sometimes (and other times hate it).

Also, with the holidays coming up these long turns may actually be helpful (if we don't pause over Thanksgiving or Christmas). Or if it ends quickly.

I'll try and finish my turn tonight (Tuesdays are bad for me though). http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Tyrant November 20th, 2005 02:17 AM

Re: Long turns

Hate to say guys....but this is a smallish map for the number of players we had.

WraithLord November 20th, 2005 01:27 PM

Re: Long turns

I'd say this smallish map is large enough for me :-)

How many provinces does it have anyway? I wonder how it compares in size to, say, Faerun map.

Shmonk November 20th, 2005 01:46 PM

Re: Long turns

True, for the number of players we started with it was a smallish map. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger the more we eliminate people. Now that we're down to 3, it seems bigger (ie more provinces per player).

And you're right, now I'm wondering if I would enjoy the end game on a Faerun map or not. Talk about taking a few hours per turn. Yikes!

dzbabi November 25th, 2005 01:29 PM

Re: Long turns

Sorry it takes solong for my turns, my pc is broken for the momment, so please be patient. Thank you!

Tyrant December 4th, 2005 04:23 PM

Doh!

Ok, that was the silliest damn battle i have yet been a party to. Why exactly did your army explode? Was that a communion combustion?

Are you guys going to fight this out the bitter end or just call it a draw after you finish me off?

Shmonk December 5th, 2005 01:10 AM

Re: Doh!

Hmm... must have missed that battle, sounds like it would have been interesting to watch.

Yes, we are planning to fight it out to the bitter end... unless Izaqyos wants to concede. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

WraithLord December 5th, 2005 06:07 AM

Re: Doh!

@Tyrant, I was experimenting with different buffs for communion. one of them phoenix pyre. In shorter battles it might actually be useful. Certainly for good use of it I need to add reinvigoration spells (relief) and keep them slaves spaced up and far from non fire resistant troops/commanders.

@Shmonk,
I have saved all the game turns. When the game ends you can see this battle. It is an interesting battle that ends with great explosions of communion slaves that wipe out most of my army.

Bitter end, Bitter end, Bitter end...
I think it will be bitter end for me, no sugar please http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Tyrant December 13th, 2005 07:40 PM

The end is near

I held my capitol against the first Ulmish assault, but i will not survive another.

Good game guys, post here at the end and let me know who won!

Either of you think that you have the edge? I cannot tell from the info i have.

WraithLord December 14th, 2005 02:32 PM

Re: The end is near

@Tyrant, Thanks for a superb game. Your armies at jotunheim annihilated my forces in droves. Your battlefield strategy exploited very well my mistakes. You had me greeting my teeth in frustration time after time :-)

As I said before, I have kept this games turns. I can possibly upload them when the game's over.

Shmonk December 16th, 2005 01:14 AM

Re: The end is near

I've kept my turns also.

I think it will be an interesting endgame. If there are any good battles, I will post screenshots and highlights, if I can.

Shmonk December 20th, 2005 10:44 PM

holiday pause?

I've PMed Griffin. I'm hoping he can pause this game, since he started it, on Mosehansen. I will be out of town after tomorrow until next year (Jan 1), and I probably won't be able to finish this turn. The end turns are taking a long time for me to figure out what to do.

I hope this is okay with you Izaqyos (and Tyrant, you're still alive, though probably not after this turn).

WraithLord December 21st, 2005 04:17 AM

Re: holiday pause?

This is fine by me.

Also it would be nice if the turns would be scheduled for five days. I find that four days for such a long turns is stressing.

Shmonk December 22nd, 2005 12:50 AM

Re: holiday pause?

I haven't heard back from Griffin, and this is my last chance to check email. I hope he can pause the game before the time expires tomorrow. I'd rather pause it than stale.

If we unfortunately stale, I guess we should just call it a tie.

Izaqyos, I hope you can get a hold of Griffin, I tried looking for an email address, but couldn't find one. Maybe you'll get lucky and see him respond to this forum in time.

Oh well. Happy holiday!!

WraithLord December 22nd, 2005 10:39 AM

Re: holiday pause?

Alas, I don't have Griffin's email as well.
I will probably also partially stale as I haven't had time to do nearly half the things I wanted done.

Clearly it ain't fair that you'd stale all the holiday. We cab either call it a tie or maybe stale together.

I guess with the turns taking so long now it is possible that we call it a tie. Though I feel I have a good chance to win, I'm sure you feel the same :-)

WraithLord December 23rd, 2005 06:31 AM

Re: holiday pause?

@Shmonk, I take it that you have staled last turn. After playing this game for a few months and investing so much time into it I hate to see it go unresolved. Then again, this is an unusual situation where we can't get a hold of the game's host. For the sake of fairness I concede to calling it a tie.

WraithLord December 24th, 2005 02:44 PM

Re: holiday pause?

I have noticed that the timer is now set to more then 200 hours. which are about nine days. I'd say this will prevent any more stales. Taking into account that I wasn't able to give much orders the last turn would you consider continuing this game until the end?- I will understand if you don't but I'd be thrilled if we'll get the chance to bring this to game to a clear resolution.

Shmonk December 31st, 2005 09:32 PM

Re: holiday pause?

I'm back.

I didn't give any orders last turn, so if we both staled, I'm fine with continuing on for a bit. I'm kind of conceding since I didn't submit any orders last turn while you did. But playing it out will be fun on the off chance I think I can turn it around and have a chance of winning.

Thanks again Griffin for changing the hosting schedule so we only had 1 stale.

Shmonk

WraithLord January 1st, 2006 11:33 AM

Re: holiday pause?

I didn't stale last turn. I rushed my orders since I didn't have time so my turn wasn't complete either.
This is why I left it for you to decide. I would have decided the same thing had I been in your position. Simply for the fact that I don't care that much about the wining part. For me having fun is more important.

Anyway. Thanks for agreeing to continue. And best of luck!

BTW, in the turn you've staled you've killed my prophet and one of my demon lords. not bad for a stale http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Edit: @Griffin, thanks for prolonging the hosting. I think it'd be good if the hosting is switched back to something like five days , 120h.
Editx2: come to think of it, it's best to leave it as is. please disregard my request.

Shmonk January 9th, 2006 12:09 AM

Re: holiday pause?

Izaqyos, I hate to say it I have to concede. While I'd like to continue on for fun, I just don't have any time right now. The new year has started off with a "bang" and I have little time for this game, which takes a few hours a turn, if I really want to think about it and strategize.

It was fun though, and I got to see a lot of high level magic, so I know what to expect in the end game for other games. Great game, by the way. It was close.
