Server rebooted, my next turns are in, and we should be good to go.

New turn is up. I'll turn it to quickhost only for this coming weekend.

Folket July 7th, 2006 08:35 AM

Seems like I have problems finding a sub for me. If I'm lucky you will not have taken all my water provinces before my return.

yes, and for those who dont believe rlyeh should be ganked, look at the score charts.

Folket July 8th, 2006 11:29 AM

Re: MP Game, CB Mod, Tripled Income

Well, I have seen no suggestions on what to do if I do not get a sub.

Folket July 8th, 2006 02:03 PM

Re: MP Game, CB Mod, Tripled Income

I have found that going AI is the best choice I have. It is not pretty but grab allmy provinces for free is not a very good solution either.

Cainehill July 8th, 2006 03:57 PM

Re: MP Game, CB Mod, Tripled Income

I'm essentially out of the game, so guess I could run R'lyeh for a bit.

Tyrant July 8th, 2006 05:50 PM

Re: MP Game, CB Mod, Tripled Income

Folket, how long will you be gone?

AI doesn't work because you can't come back. I say let Cainehill sub or just pause the game. Given your massive position it would really screw the pooch if you just walked away.

If you are just going to be gone for a couple turns we could also just argree not to attack you while you are away.

Until your last post, there wasn't even any indication that you needed a sub, but please don't set yourself to the AI.

Re: MP Game, CB Mod, Tripled Income

yea, youve crushed me so now take your chance of ulm/mict.

Tyrant July 9th, 2006 03:35 PM

Folket status

hmm, i am worried that Folket might have already gone AI. He has uploaded already, possibly about the time he wrote that last post. Perhaps we can pause the current turn in hopes that he checks in? Given his size and location (everywhere), it would make this game very chaotic if he suddenly went AI. I'd rather see Cainehill sub or, if nessicary, take over for him. (thanks for your willingness to that btw)

What do the rest of you think?

I'v now noticed that Folket made a forum post recently, so maybe i'm fretting for nothing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif

Cainehill July 9th, 2006 05:50 PM

Re: Folket status

He sent me his password, so presumably didn't go AI.

Izzyz July 9th, 2006 10:38 PM

Re: Folket status

I think I am the only one actively fighting him right now except for Pangaea, so I will refrain from hostile action until this gets worked out if that will make things easier. I,too, would prefer an active human as a sub or replacement, and would rather wait until we get one. Even if it is Cainehill, who I am fighting on the other side of the map! (Nothing personal, Cainehill.)

Tyrant July 10th, 2006 07:05 PM

Thanks for doing that Cainehill, will you be taking over or just subbing?

I've put the game back on the timer, and we are only waiting for Pan, Machaka, and R'Lyeh.

Far as I know / am concerned, I'm just subbing until Folket works out his internet access.

Re: weekend

Sorry for any stales or delays of game this weekend. The last I checked we were still waiting for machacka, but then I got networking issues and so have not been able to play.

Re: weekend

Is anybody else having trouble connecting. I'm in Cincinnati for the week, so I can't reset the server if you are unfortunately.

Oversway July 19th, 2006 07:57 PM

Re: weekend

I do not seem to be able to connect, but I'm trying it from a friends place so I don't know if there are other issues.

Izzyz July 20th, 2006 09:09 PM

I also can't connect, since last night.

Can't connect either. Hopefully I won't get a stale turn because I'm banging Ulms gates. But such is war, nothing goes according to plans.

You're attacking Ulm? Why on earth would you do that? He is such a powerful enemy. His wrath, when unleashed, may be unstoppable. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

The power went out in my apartment while I was away from home., so I don't think anybody missed a turn. It's back on now.

Is there a new turn since sunday? How many hours left until hosting?

thanks

Just back back in town, server seems to be down again.

Graeme Dice July 24th, 2006 10:25 PM

Re: weekend

My apartment had another power outage this afternoon. The server is back up and running, with only Pangaea and R'lyeh left to take their turns.

I have no fear because my hairy bulldozers will crush anything
Ulm sends my way. No mere blacksteel plates will stop the overgrown bastards.

Cainehill July 25th, 2006 04:55 PM

Re: weekend

Only Pangaea left to go - suspect that with one province (non-capital) left, that player may not be paying attention anymore.

Izzyz July 25th, 2006 05:21 PM

Re: weekend

It being almost a week since a turn was run, I move that our kind host simply run the turn and not wait for the (almost) dead guy any longer.

Graeme Dice July 26th, 2006 03:08 AM

out of town this weekend

I will be out of town this weekend, away from a computer. May we pause the game over the weekend, please?

Graeme Dice July 28th, 2006 01:11 AM

Re: out of town this weekend

The next turn is up, and I'll take the game off of the timer for the weekend.

Oversway July 31st, 2006 11:19 AM

Re: out of town this weekend

I'm still waiting for a new computer parts, so if C'tis is the only one left, you can run the turn and I'll deal with the stale. I hope to be able to play by the next turn. I don't think I'm going to be a powerhouse in this game anyways http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Graeme Dice July 31st, 2006 11:51 AM

Re: out of town this weekend

We're just waiting on Marignon, Vanheim, C'Tis, and Pan, so I'll turn the timer back to 48 hours now.

Cainehill August 1st, 2006 04:27 PM

Re: out of town this weekend

Essentially only C'tis left, and he's waiting for computer parts ( Pangaea is shown as being left to go, but was eliminated this turn).

Graeme Dice August 1st, 2006 05:30 PM

Re: out of town this weekend

Okay. I can run the turn tonight then.

Oversway August 1st, 2006 06:13 PM

Re: ctis turn

I got the parts today, I should be able to get my turn in tonight.

Oversway August 2nd, 2006 11:02 AM

Re: ctis turn

Didn't happen, sorry. If I can't get it working tonight, I'll have Graeme set me to AI. I'd look for a sub, but I'm pretty much done for -- I should have better anticipated Van violating our NAP without warning.

We had no NAP. I offered one many turns ago and got no responce from you whatsoever. Taking this as a sign of hostile intent, i prepared to make war.

I am sorry about attacking while you are having 'puter troubles, but given the nasty aspect of your stinky swamp dominion i cannot loiter about catching diseases.

My reply must have gotten lost. Oh well. I'm probably quite dead by now. You may as well set me to AI if you havn't already. Sorry to everyone for the stales and slow turns.

Izzyz August 8th, 2006 03:18 AM

Re: ctis turn

Hello? Is there anybody out there? I've seen no new turn, and no explanation posted.

I'm getting a Twilight Zone kind of feeling about this game, and I was hoping someone could answer these questions:

Is there another forum where conversations about this game are happening? This weekend the game was again taken off of the timer, only this time without any request that I saw. Why?

Tyrant posted recently asking a similar question, but now his post has disappeared. Why?

Who is playing R'lyeh? Folket's request for contact info implies he is trying to take back over his country. Is this the reason for the delay? Please let Cainehill continue to play if Folket cannot connect so that we can make some progress.

If Oversway wants to go to AI, doesn't he have to make the change on his end, rather than having our kind host do it?

Has anyone heard from Machaka as to why his turn isn't in?

Finally, is anyone else as frustrated as I am about the appallingly slow pace of this game? This is my first net game ever, as opposed to a locally hosted one, and I find it excruciating to play so slowly. Is this the norm for net games? If it is, I will try to chill out and wait. But really, this is ridiculous!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer my questions.

Shmonk August 8th, 2006 11:53 AM

Slooowww game

I'm with you on this also. This is a very slow game, and we're only around turn 25 or something. In another game I'm in (RAND2) we are hosting twice a week, but that's because we're up to turn 73 or so and 2 turns a week is fine for that stage of the game. Yet this game is almost slower than that one now.

Oh well, I think once Dom 3 comes out and MP games are started for that there will be very few delays in those games.
