Some units from the new Gaelic tribes-inspired nation would also be much appreciated. Also, I'd dig on seeing some new Pretenders.

There are four tribes in Marverni. Marverni, the namesake, has everything from Horn Blowers to Slingers and Javelineers and both normal and noble warriors. Other tribes are Ambibate, Carnute and Eponi.

Interesting, interesting.
The Solar Disc looks oddly...cool. though I don't see any talons on it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif |

Solar talons are outside our visual spectrum.

Re: Screenies!
I wonder, is there a vikingesque nation somewhere over in dom3?
(And I don't mean dom2's Jotunheim and Vanheim which are based on norse mythology, but actual vikings in uberchainmail* and uberswords*) *-Yep, apparently two of the vikings greatest strengths were their awesome chainmail, which was much better than any other chainmail available at the time, and their metal-folded swords (like katanas!) that were marginally better than regular swords of the time (the low quality despite the metal-folding is due to crude furnaces with uneven heat distribution) |
Re: Screenies!
How is Mictlan divided across the ages, or are they? Also, besides new summons have their been any basic changes/additions to them, as a nation?

TURN INTO TURKEYS....(?)
Do they retain the "spread Dominion only through sacrifice" through EA and LA? =$= |

2) EA and LA, but obviously not MA. |
Re: Screenies!
So, out of curiosity, what's the balance theory in terms of Mictlan dominion? What's so great about their ability to sacrifice-spread that makes it preferable to the normal form of Dominion push? Or is it balanced some other way, perhaps through the power of Blood magic?
I know that Mictlan was generally considered a weaker kingdom -because- of the lack of Dominion spread. I like that it uses a unique mechanic, but I'm curious as to how/if its balance has been addressed in Dom3. |

Re: Screenies!
This was two years ago and was more of a consensus-based opinion than it was a well-documented breakdown of mechanics opinion. I'm more than open to the idea that over time it proved to be a powerful nation, but I'd like to see more explanation therein -- what made it one of the top 5? Some further discussion of how DomIII's changes will affect Mictlan would also be welcome.
For my part, I loved their theme. I just couldn't play them worth a lick. ;-) |

So early game, their saceds were a terror with f9w9 and middle and late game they could dominate with devils, fiends and unique blood scs. The power of their blood hunters was even better when combined with all their free patrollers tribal kings generated. As for how this has changed in dom3, they are weaker in some ways (mostly due to some blood magic nerfs), but stronger in others (new unique summons), so overall I would still rate them a top-notch nation. |

I'm sick. In a "I cought a cold and suffer" kind of way. And it's raining outside. So I'm leaving the Rain Priest out of the picture, and give you the Virtue, and try to rest.
http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...43936-temp.jpg Oh, and Dominion 10 gives Awe. Virtue already has Awe, so it's increased. Virtue with high Awe is, surprise surprise, Awesome. |
Re: Screenies!
Dominion 10 gives Awe? Well, that is fitting.

Re: Screenies!
Lemme get this straight - is it
a) making a pretender with base dominion 10 gives him/her/it awe for the duration of the game b) a pretender in a province with 10 friendly dominion gets awe? |

Re: Screenies!
I'd fancy seeing one of those mage pretenders.
|
Re: Screenies!
Yeah, did they incorporate any of CB's ideas regarding the crone/hag? I used the vanilla crone before, but after CB came out, the hag was just kickass.
=$= |
Re: Screenies!
Did the incorporate any ideas of my Archmages mod? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif
Pretty unlikely. |
Re: Screenies!
There HAVE been some changes to the rainbow gods. They all have at least one path now, and some have to. It seems that most got one more path than they used to have. It's not much, but it's something. And I quess it does allow for a bit of a blessing as well. Crones have D1 now, still 0 points, but start old. In their case, having Nature magic isn't enough to stave off the old age, so you'd better pick up some more of the Death to keep her from not suffering from it too badly. That Death as in a magic path, as a scale, Death would make matters worse. Growth helps, if your nation's mages also happen to be old.

Re: Screenies!
Oh my Umor! That screenshot is like...straight out of my Archmages mod. :O
Dunno if Illwinter had that in mind when they made these changes, but well, it is rather similiar to the idea I had in mod. I don't need to say that I am pretty happy over these changes. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Screenies!
I'm sorry to say I havn't checked your archmages mod IIRC.
Unfortunately there are several mods I havn't looked at, since I can't unrar files. I'm currently stuck with zip. JK said 7-zip works on rar too. SHould perhaps get it. |

Re: Screenies!
what about zipping it? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I wont load 3rd party stuff to my linux. It kindof undoes the reason for using linux. Actually though Kristoffer you might check to see if its already there. I typed rar and it worked.
*sigh* so many different "just get this" stuff. Mods in different compressions, offered only on things like bittorrent, or as iso, etc etc. Ive lost track of how many things Ive had to add to my machines. I have to jump from keyboard to keyboard to see if I have it already available on one of the others. |

Re: Screenies!
I'm scratching my head and wondering if anyone in their right mind would ever play a crone. Of course, I'm a Dom3 noob, and I'm sure those spells that extend life, etc. would make it viable. I'm sitting here imagining the process. Crone gets old, crone gets diseased, crone finally dies. You call crone back, but she's still dying and she's still diseased, so she dies again... I suppose the way to think of it is that she is not a god yet, but she's reaching to attain godhood. She has to "cheat life" the whole way there, too. That makes sense.

Re: Screenies!
> I'm scratching my head and wondering if anyone in their right mind would ever play a crone.
Because you can name her Hagga! Also crones start with death magic and if you up that a bit you will not suffer from disease for a couple of hundreds of turns, unless exposed to decay. The main effect of the old age is that she has age reduced stats (but her basic stats are upped to represent her stats if she was young). > You call crone back, but she's still dying and she's still diseased, so she dies again... Disease always goes away when you are recalled or reborn from immortality. Only mister disease himself (T'ien Ch'i hero) gets diseased immediately once reborn. > I suppose the way to think of it is that she is not a god yet, There are plenty of gods that dies in the myths and religions of our history. Nothing spectacular about that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Screenies!
Besides, you could just cast Twiceborn on her...if the people can worship an old hag, they can worship a wight mage.
Hmm...how about a screenie of Son of the Sky? Or what was that winged titan called. |
Re: Screenies!
You know what I'd like?
A screenie of a new assassin-type. Any will do, so long as there's commander-killing goodness involved. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Screenies!
There's already a freaking ninja on the first page of the thread. What more could you want?
Anyway, does Abyssia have 3 themes now? Obviously Blood of Humans is LA and normal is...MA probably? Then what's their EA like? |
Re: Screenies!
I want another assassin. Preferably one that shoots laser beams out of his eyes. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Come on now. Am I really that greedy for wanting another? They're an awfully fun type of unit. |
