Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

When we first encountered followers of false gods, my reaction was that of outrage. How dare these abominations claim lordship over the mortal children of Falahd?

The whips of the Taskmasters were put to work: holy war was upon us. Or so I though, but just as the screaming horde of flesh-hungry slaves was ready to march out, eager to devour the false priests, I heard the voice of Falahd. He told me that he is a god of peace, a god love, and one day the priests and followers of false gods will accept that without the need for violence.

My turn 10 is lagging, my regular email server crashed and hasn't come up. And as things are I don't have your email address, can you PM it to me so I can get this turn moving asap?

... or am I already late for turn 10?:)

CelestialGoblyn December 5th, 2006 11:16 PM

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

I sent it again. And trough IM too.

I don't know how to attach a file to a PM, sorry. But I sent it trough the mail again.

Still lacking Goblyn's email address, can anyone PM it?

Anyone? I really need the email address else I can't play this game any more, which would... suck:/

I got the turn and sent out turn 11.
Now, I'm sorry I couldn't help with it yesterday, but it was late enough I was practically falling asleep over the keyboard. I have a bit tense scheudle lately, but nothing that would stop me from playing.

Hullu December 6th, 2006 01:24 PM

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

Turn 11 didn't reach me (yet), did you send it to my old address or the new one from which I sent you turn 10?

Since the old is still offline...

A New patch has arrived. I've already submitted turn 11.
I assume we will switch to the latest version as of turn 12?

I hope so!

I've recently learned that MA C'tis is bugged and gets income penalties for their own dominion. There's not much we can do about it at this point though (unless you all volunteer to send me gold http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif). http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

I guess it's a good thing I have this handicap, to stop me from totally dominating the game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

I will switched version as soon as our server does. Hopefully we all do that but it really sucks if Ctis is bugged and get less income. Is that confirmed?

I am waiting to do my turn until I hear anything.

Teraswaerto December 7th, 2006 05:01 PM

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

Yes it is confirmed. -5% per level of Dominion, so -50% in my home province at the moment, for example.

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

Why have not one, but two large Caelian armies, one of which is crammed with mammoths, moved to our borders?

In all fairness, one of these armies is placed where it could strike at Abysia as well as Man, so perhaps we are not the intended target. Perhaps this second army is just there to deter us from coming to Abysia's aid -- divide and conquer at its best.

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

I beg your pardon, but those Mammoth herds where only looking for some food. You know how hard is to feed 57 mammoths? Well, it's near impossible. I can assure everyone that attacking us is very unwise. Mostly for the sole reason that my armies are very mobile, so I can keep a smaller number of armies, in the other hand Caelum is the best siege army if I recall correctly.
Greetings of peace from Dream Slayer, God of the Clouds
P.S.: Well mostly, for one nation there could be no peace with Caelum.

Mind Elemental December 8th, 2006 02:23 AM

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

The forests of Avalon are vast, but not so vast as to support such herds. We suggest the Raven's Vale instead.

We also wonder who that one nation is...

It is no secret that the cold lands of Caelum wants to cool down the warm lands of Abysia. But Abysian troops are ready if Caelum do attack...

Hmm. BTW, I used 3.01 for this turn, since Goblyn hasn't said otherwise. Maybe switch next turn?

Agrajag December 8th, 2006 04:55 AM

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

Impossible!
Pangaean lookouts have spotted the nation of Arcoscephale levying the local population to fuel their own war machine, and on the borders of Pangaea no less!
Since there were relations of peace between Pangaea and Arcoscephale so far, Pangaea will give them 3 turns to prove that they are not a nation ruled by tyrrany.
Should Arcoscephale not prove to be a friend to the people and to mother nature in 3 turns, they can expect to be wiped off the face of the sacred earth.

EDIT: I'm not submitting this turn until we are told if we are to do it under 3.01 or 3.04

Hullu December 8th, 2006 05:49 AM

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

I already submitted mine from 3.04, can do it again with 3.01 (with a delay) if that's necessary. Wonder if 3.01 server can process 3.04 turns.

I sent with 3.04 too.

I've sent it with 3.01. We really need CelestialGoblyn to tell us when he is upgrading the server.

Hullu December 8th, 2006 07:58 AM

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

If he upgrades to 3.04 all should be fine, since newer servers can (I think) read older 3.01 files.

CelestialGoblyn December 8th, 2006 09:24 AM

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

I'm upgrading right now. And I'd ask that you'd send me turns in 3.04 format now. We finally should have the hunter bug behind us, cheers!

Turn 13 sent, but i'm not sure if everyone sent me patched turns. It hosted with no trouble, but please upgrade eveyone, okay?

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

A year has passed since the God came to Avalon, and it has been good. The armies of Man have seen to it that the God's banner flies over the neighbouring lands, and trade has flourished side-by-side with magic and worship. Even the strange races nearby, worshippers of other Gods, were not too much cause for concern. But now...

The word is everywhere. Monks whisper it at refectories, tower guardsmen chatter about it in messhalls, bards embellish it with every song.

War has come to Man.

Caelians have poured over the frontier, but winged men with ice weapons have not aroused near so much comment as the giant woolly mammoths they ride. So far dozens of mammoths have been seen, and terrified militiamen from the fallen provinces testify to their near-invulnerability as they trample all beneath them.

Now the witches, castellans, and monks huddle together with the God in conference, even the crones coming out of their seclusion. Messengers race off to every corner of the kingdom, bearing orders and missives...

I beg your pardon, but I had to choose between famine in the ranks of our belowed furry friends (called mammoths by mankind), or to find some new sources of green leaves or anything eatable. We had no intentions of roasting our mammoths, so we avoided Abyssian lands. The only path remaind possible were leading towards the forests of Avalon... They contain lots of food for peacefull herbivores , hence the name of forests. If your man decided to hunt down the herds, that's your misstake, since they tend to dislike being hunted, and in that case they will trample trough ranks of heavy infantry with ease.

C'tis wishes to assure Agartha that we have no intention of attacking your lands. We respect your religion of statue worship, and wish you a happy future of cave dwelling bliss.

Lugal'kurdu, head of C'tis - Agartha relations

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

Robed figures walked trough the sun-scorched plains, hoods pulled over their heads. Agarthan mystics were not just hiding from the light of the day. One of them was limping visibly and another could not walk without the aid of his staff.
"The lizards hiss about peace, Mynal."
One turned to the other.
"But after the first contact of our woodsmen with their scouts, the plagues began."

The mystic chased away a fly that tried to get under his cowl. The flies were drawn to the smell...
Of disease!

From Kajolm of Agartha to Lulal'kurdu of C'tis:
You speak of peace, yet every day we and all lands feel mark of the disease you carry in yourself. You are best to keep away from the borders, maintain a healthy distance.
We Agarthans are very slow to anger, we lived for tens of thousands years and will not provoke war without a good reason.
But if more chants will be offered to gods of noxious swamps, our sages predict nature itself will punish you much better than Agartha ever could.
You will reap what you sow, as many others that we saw trough the millenia.

Re: Newbie PBEM - looking for players. Possibly RP

"Intolerable!" exclaims Teva.
"The Arcoscephalians, not satisfied with merely imposing a strict levy on the poor populace in ##### ####, have started a war against nature itself!"
A note in front of him writes, in shaky handwriting: "A conflict took place in province ###, where forces of ########## battled against forces of Arcoscephale. The ########### army eventually prevailed."
"These acts will not go unprovoked. The nation of Arcoscephale will suffer."
After a few moments of thoughts, Teva ammends: "They'll suffer badly. Sadly we will only be able to attack them honorably after the promised 3 turn period."

I submitted turn 13, but like I said previously, I won't be able to make another turn for alteast 48 more hours, most probably 72 hours.
I hope you will wait for me.

EDIT: Apparently I didn't respond to your PM :X
The point was the you were recruiting Woodsman Blowpipes. Or as Pangaea saw it, a levy of the local population. (Which is what recruiting indies basically is)

(I'm writing the massage before recieving the next turn results, as you can see from the date.)

To God of Man,
I wish to offer peace. In exchange I will only need that castle that is very close to my capital, and you built it a few turns ago. That act was considered hostile by me (and by my mammoths too, as far as one can tell). That resulted in loosing a few provinces in your side. (I don't know the exact numbers yet.) If you think that this loss is enough, then you are welcome to case fire and surrender the beforementioned keep. If you don't agree my terms, I won't stop until your capital. And remember if you somehow manage to kill my roaming mammoth hordes, you will not be able to deal with my flying armies razing your lands, and cousing havok. If you agree peace for at least a year, then we may even consider mutual non agression pact or alliance in best case.
Thanks a lot,

Hurg, the god of Arcoscephale wakes from his long slumber only to find his nation in distress. After centuries of sleep this will be difficuly to tolerate. The unwarranted aggression from the Bandar Log, and the seeming hostile attitude of the Pangaea will require a swift response.

As was mentioned in a meeting between Rhigmos the prophet and Hurg - a way of peace was attempted, but apparently such a plan no longer exists.

Hurg picks up his great forge hammer, limps forward on his crippled leg. This means war.

This would be more convincing had you not rejected my offer to negotiate on borders, and had you not begun making preparations before my fortress was completed.

Bandar Log wishes only to show the poor nations of northern lands the true Deity of Nature, our primal faith which should be worshipped at all times forever.
As People of North had no God for ages they were lost in darkness.
But here and now, Lady of Bandar shows them their true Path. And no man calling himself awaken God will stand against their True Destiny!
Let temples araise, praise our Mother of Nature!

I did not rejected it, only told that it is too early, and since I expanded to north I would have been put in to a great disadvantage if you would have attacked me. You got provinces (and now a fort) VERY close to my capital. But if you inted to continue the war, that's your concern. My offer stands until you accept it or 3 turns.

Thanks a lot for understanding,
