EW, you noticed my post? Just as you're getting back, I'm leaving town, unfortunately. The good news is that I'll get back soon, w/ luck I can get a turn out on the evening of the 15th.

Thought I'd sent the turn in, no worries I'll send again

Hellboy; i noticed =) i'll wait till evening of 15th. if i dont have it thenm you have a stale turn.

Oh, man, I almost managed to forget what a terrible starting position I have. A wasteland surrounded by cavemen and elephants!? Sign me up!

johnarryn February 15th, 2007 03:23 PM

Re: see you

Well, the wasteland isnt great... but being able to recruit cavemen and elephants sounds pretty good to me.

CyborgMoses February 16th, 2007 02:55 AM

Re: see you

Yeah, but having to conquer them with only my starting province is a bit less appealing. Ah well, I'll manage.

My turns in now - are we getting back to one turn/day?

tromper February 16th, 2007 02:03 PM

Re: see you

It's somewhat hilarious, the pace at which this PBEM has been going, we may as well just hot-seat it at the retirement home while we laugh at the bingo players. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

CyborgMoses February 16th, 2007 06:10 PM

Re: see you

...Can I play a card of bingo at the same time?

Eddiewallie February 18th, 2007 04:44 PM

Re: see you

lets set the rule that you have 24 hours to submit your turn from the moment i send you the files. if you dont send it on time you have a stale for that turn.

Re: see you

i still miss the files from agartha and niefelhiem.
after this turn i won't be reminding anyone and just stick to the 24hours deadline. i think it's worth some effort if you want to stay in the game, dont you?

good luck

Cor February 20th, 2007 02:08 PM

hummmm....

still no word from arartha and niefel? maybe they should stale this turn.

With a two week hiatus it would not seem to be unusual for a couple of player to go missing entierly. Hope that is not the case with them, but has it been 48 hours now?

Oh yeah, Sign me up for that retiremant home game! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

johnarryn February 20th, 2007 02:20 PM

Re: hummmm....

I say just host... if you don't hear anything from them in a turn or two look for replacements... but the pace of this game has been slow due to just a few people.

jutetrea February 20th, 2007 02:31 PM

Re: hummmm....

Agartha here - much apologies.

Turn was sent day or so before, no idea why I let it sit so long. Must have clicked the e-mail and then not saved the file as I thought we were still on the previous turn when i checked in game.

In all honesty - stale whoever is late, myself included.

johnarryn February 20th, 2007 02:42 PM

Late turns

Im running a 24 hour PBEM game myself... generally what I try to do is sent out reminder emails after about 16 hours or so. Its a bit of work, but it helps to avoid any confusion. I definitely stale people regularly if they're late, but I try to be fair.

jutetrea February 20th, 2007 02:56 PM

Re: Late turns

yeah, pure stupidity here. I'm at my computer probably 12 hours a day so usually my turns are in within a few hours. When I got a reminder I was shocked, shocked I tell you!

cupido2 February 20th, 2007 03:11 PM

Re: Late turns

yes let's pick up some speed. I begin to forget what I was up to and with whom I'm allied.

Cor February 21st, 2007 02:38 PM

?

?
Still no turn?
hummm....

Its not the hosts fault.
I think its time to stale any player who does not have their turn in.

maybe we need to set a more realistic 48 hour rule. I like the 24 hour thing, but we will see if it works.

Hellboy February 21st, 2007 03:29 PM

Re: ?

I'm not interested in whose fault this is, but I am now getting very pessimistic about this game getting off the ground. It has now been:

5 days since I last received a turn.
3 days since Eddiewallie told us he was going to strict 24hr turn rotation.
2 days since Eddiewallie told us no more warnings

But, still no turn. Maybe its time to write this one off?

johnarryn February 21st, 2007 05:19 PM

Re: ?

Let's not all abandon the game yet... we might not have some critical information. Personally I think that Eddiewallie does just need to start hosting every 24 hours no matter what... sometimes it seems mean, but it needs to be done. I've staled by brother doing this, but in reality staling one turn isnt going to hurt much, and it sends a message to people that they need to be serious about the game.

johnarryn February 21st, 2007 08:49 PM

Re: ?

Now that i've been all tolerant of delays and stuff, I still am rather curious what the hold up is all about. Hope things get moving soon... im happy to be playing Caelum in a MP game, i'd like to be able to enjoy that.

Eddiewallie February 22nd, 2007 04:04 AM

Re: ?

sorry for the hold-up guy's. it has been a combination of me not wanting to be mean, players not delivering and some pressure from my study. the turn will be in today and then the 24h deadline will be a fact, cruel as it may be =)
hope you all stick around and we'll have some glorious battles ahead of us.

johnarryn, you're doing a fantastic job hosting End of Time. Host another! Sign me up! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif And nice to see you're still functional, Eddie.

Sounds great! I did sign up for a roughly 1 turn/day game, and if thats happening now, I'll be happy to stick around.

There is a new turn out?! I must be dreaming.

Eddiewallie February 26th, 2007 05:53 AM

heya guys,

my pc went berserk last night while distributing the turnfiles. i just want to check if everyone has got his?

CyborgMoses February 26th, 2007 07:42 AM

Well, without a turn number I can't be sure if it's the one you're talking about, but I last received a turn from you about 13 hours ago.

The last turn i received was turn 8.

Same here Cor. Playing with Demo methods, played a lot during the 2 weeks w/o a turn and now realized I completely borked myself. I didn't even like it.

Hi Tien Chi - play nice please http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Oh Hi Atlantis, welcome to our shores. Have a pleasant stay!

Only redeeming factor is that I don't see this being a 3 month game for me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Perhaps look for allies? Heck, I'm being assaulted in provinces next to my capitol. Feel free to give C'tis a messenger and we'll see if we can assist each other, shockingly.

jutetrea February 26th, 2007 11:09 PM

Re: I\'m screwed

Its wierd, don't play a lot of MP so not used to the lack of score graphs... usually I kind of know before the hammer is coming down.

Good lessons though, at least in my only other MP i'm a water nation and they need to exert effort to take me out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

johnarryn February 27th, 2007 09:51 AM

Lack of graphs

I find I actually enjoy the lack of graphs. It makes scouting that much more important... its more "realistic" in a sense, because you dont have perfect, up-to-the minute knowledge of your opponents' strength.

Cor February 27th, 2007 01:19 PM

Looking for allies

Let it be know to the World that the proud Marvarni peoples are being subjugated by the evil cold winged elf things. The Marvarni people issue a call for friends and beer in thier time of mead... err need. Sorry I am a little drunk, helps take the edge off the dispare....

johnarryn February 27th, 2007 02:32 PM

Re: Looking for allies

The Caelian army has engaged in defensive maneuvers due to Marvernian (Marvernite?) aggression; Marverni has attempted to claim land that is rightfully the property of Caelum. Any interference in the defence of our land will be met with arrows and biting, sarcastic wit.

You have been warned.

Cor February 27th, 2007 02:50 PM

Re: Looking for allies

Very well played, Johnarryn. The fight is not over yet, but very nearly.

I have learned alot about how to play the cold winged people by watching you.

johnarryn February 27th, 2007 02:55 PM

Re: Looking for allies

Thanks for the compliment, Cor. You're right, it's not over yet... you gave me a rather bloody fight in that last battle.

jutetrea February 27th, 2007 02:58 PM

Re: Looking for allies

Yup, if you play them just right they taste like chicken. Add a little BBQ sauce, ahhh.

BBQ Caelian is PEOPLE!

Hellboy March 2nd, 2007 04:16 PM

Re: Looking for allies

ok, i'm sorry to say it, but this game is just going way too slow for me. I hate resigning, but this is not what I signed on for. I'll stick around for a turn or two if that helps to find a replacement, but other than that I'm outta here.

FWIW, the position seems to be in fine shape, so I don't think it should be a problem to find a replacement.

Atreides March 2nd, 2007 04:23 PM

Re: Looking for allies

I have to admit Im write there with Hellboy. This game is moving too slow, which would not normally be a problem for me, but I have to go on vacation for 10 days at the end of next week. In addition to that, my frustration has grown considerably, as I generally send my .2h file 1-2 hours after the turn files are sent out, and I accidently sent in a file for another game, and was staled instead of being asked for a new .2h file, because we were starting "a strict 24h schedule." Since that turn, it was then 48 hours until the next turn, and it has now been 72 hours since that turn and files have not been sent out. Eddiewallie, please look for a new arcos player as well. I will be going ai on the next turn file if you cant find someone by then.

CyborgMoses March 2nd, 2007 04:58 PM

I have set to AI. Thanks for the game.
