Re: Veturi - LA (Looking for Players)
I'll be away from Saturday morning to Sunday evening (european time). IF you keep stalling turns like you have for now, I can make it without any stale turns, I would appreciate this a lot. Since now the turn runs at around 5am (my time), and I could turn in my turn after that in the morning, then the next one would run Sunday 4am or so, and I could play it in the evening without losing a single turn.
Under the relentless attacks of C'tis and Man I really don't feel like taking stale turns right now, but on this I'm at your mercy:) Quote:

Re: Veturi - LA (Looking for Players)
Would you find 30 hour quichost useful, Hullu?
|
Re: Veturi - LA (Looking for Players)
I don't really mind usually, just this once (and well, who knows about future weekends) it would be useful to have you all stall turns like you usually do so they're not moving too fast;) It'll probably be 40 hours or so between the time I can do turns this weekend, if I lose a turn, my bad - no panic.
|
Re: Veturi - LA (Looking for Players)
I wouldn't object to temporarily slowing down the game dramatically, or postponing things. Happening in smokybat anyways. I'll just focus on Jaguar and Outriders, then.

Lets slow the timer down!
What can I say? I would LOVE to have a bit more time. I managed to get myself
in four games, because it looked as if they were not going to ever start, or at least would be restarted. All of a sudden, I am at war in each and every one of them, and one of my subordinates at work has left, so that I have to take care of his duties. |
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
In a standard situation, I'd vote for 30 hour turns. I'd be willing to spring for 48, but I don't think that's ideal.
|
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
30 hours effectively gives you two full days if you bother to play the turns as late as possible and play two in a row...
I wouldn't mind slowing down if anyone needs it, 48 hours sounds a bit too slow though. |
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
I am pretty much stalling. I am still at work, the only way I can do anything is
to remote into my home PC, and I have 9mn. I switched research, and that's it. Don't tell my boss anyway ;-) ================== Damn. I am finished. Guys, I am switching to AI. I had forgotten that my army was lacking supplies. On this turn, it needed 26 extra supplies, which it did not get. As a result 247 troops got a disease. I really do not see a point in playing. Sorry to walk out, but feel sick of the whole thing. I am in too many games, and I have been doing stupid [censored] in all of them. I doubt anyone will want to take over a nation of cripples. |
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
Sorry to hear about your misfortune, Tuidjy. I wish you luck in the future.
... Well, that was successful. More than I expected, mind you. I can declare the first strike against Pan a success. Breaching the walls of their northern fortress the same turn my troops land there? Nice. The followup will be tricky though. Since man's going AI, I'll have to pay more attention to my Southern Border. Then factor in Ctis overtaking my northern border... |
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
EDIT; Acted too quickly.
|
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
Man, please don't take your turn yet/switch to AI.
I need to change my turn orders. I can't do that for about 3 hours at minimum. |
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
You know what, between you needing to take a turn, and my ally being
left to hang, I may just do the honorable thing and fight on. I just feel REALLY REALLY bad about letting my men down for no reason but my poor scheduling. I never sacrifice troops, which is why this feels so bad. I guess I can at least throw them at Ermor, so that I help my ally at least a little bit. I know that if the AI is turned on when I am besieging a castle, it will go to war with Ermor, and probably will not attack anyone else for a while. |
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
Thank you. I think I've done everything I need to.
Is Cooron still around and administering the game? |
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
Ah figured out why I invaded that fortress so easily. All that was inside was an independent priest.
|
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
Well, I went AI. I threw my pretender at Ermor's largest army, and lost her.
This game had become like work. I think I took my 90% of my turns last. No point in slowing you guys down. I guess 24 hours just isn't for me. |
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
Best wishes, Tuidjy. If you decide what timer's best for you, I'm starting another series of games (valhalla) on a smaller scale. I'm asking for settings and feedback, you can weigh in on a game if youd like.
|
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
The biggest (only?) mistake your SC did against my 'number one fist' was that you casted enough spells to go 74 fatigue. -> no defense, critical hits through armor.
Well, if it makes you any happier C'tis took my capital when my elites were on your lands... |
Re: Lets slow the timer down!
> If you decide what timer's best for you, I'm starting another series of games
Tempting, but I need to reduce the games I am in. > The biggest (only?) mistake your SC did against my 'number one fist' was that you > casted enough spells to go 74 fatigue. I was counting on your imps getting drained by soul vortex. I have no idea what happened to the bloody imps. If they were not in the fight, then I should have noticed... but I cannot say I really paid attention in the last few turns ;-) |
Declaration of Intent
I'm waging war against Ctis and Pangaea right now. The war against Pangaea is going well, nearly finished, since I've siezed two of their fortresses.
The war against Ctis is two or three pronged, and I plan on taking permanent control of that peninsula. That operation is going well, at the moment. The other branch of that attack is massive raids against their landmass. Arouse Hunger was next to useless against Pangaea, but against Ctis, my ghouls managed to sieze three provinces on the main continent. I seriously don't expect to be able to keep these northern territories, but combined with my assault against their capital, I should be able to steal that peninsula from them, and maybe keep Ermor in the game for an epic showdown in the end. Or not. I hereby declare to all nations other than Ctis or Pangaea: Mithok, Lord of Untimely Death, shall not attack you without either declaring specific intent of war three turns before, or being invaded by you first. Post script. Man, are you out for good? Then this declaration of intent doesn't apply to your nation. |
Re: Declaration of Intent
i have set myself to AI after tien chi pounded my last army to dust
|
Re: Declaration of Intent
Au revoir, Ferrosol. If you want to be involved in another game, I'll be administering, but not joining some (my schedule's full) in the Halls of Valhalla thread, as soon as enough people express interest, though its going to be a bit scarce since LLamabeast started so many games recently.
|
Re: Declaration of Intent
Well fought Ferrosol. Until we meet again.
Tien-Chi |
Re: Declaration of Intent
It looks like the server crashed while processing the next turn.
|
Re: Declaration of Intent
Can you connect to it?
If the server's still up, its possible someone only looked at their turn, and didn't 'end turn'. Edit: At 11:00 PM, I could not connect either. |
Re: Declaration of Intent
a question tibbs did you buy all that PD or was it just pumped up by conscription?
|
Re: Declaration of Intent
I bought all of it. I haven't notice any of it rise by conscription.
I normally don't buy it that high but Tien Chi has one of the best PDs in the game and I didn't have enough troops to fight a war on two fronts. |
Re: Declaration of Intent
Server up again. (been for a while, forgot to mention)
|
Re: Declaration of Intent
Turn sent, game hosted.
Dur.. botched that set of orders for defending the fort, and spellscripting. |
Re: Declaration of Intent
Sorry for being last. Turn done, game hosted, next turn done. Have fun. (I like killing off Ctis' army with my army of disease ridden, wounded Vets - though I couldn't have done it without Tupilak, who's very priest-resistant, though not very hot in melee). I do wonder what happened to all the other troops I saw hanging around before. It was in the hundreds, and I only faced them in the tens.
I've got Pan's capital now. Me likely +1 death gems- its a big deal going from nine to ten- means I don't have to alchemize. However, the 400-something troops heading my way may disagree with that conclusion. Nature can't hurt with all the starvation/sieges coming my way. Now I just need someone capable of forging those nature items. Unfortunately, My lizard shamans are either dead or feebleminded. |
Re: Declaration of Intent
Darkness.. 51
Wailing Winds... 63 About 5 spare death gems, 15 untouched earth. Iron Bane (E3 pretender, E3 req), 92 fatigue Curse of Stones - 200??? Curse of Stones on my units? I see my mistake. My mage could only use 3 earth gems for Curse of Stones. So he used three. And none were left for fatigue. I had your pretender under optimal conditions - only 24 hitpoints!!! And didn't get close enough for a single blow. :weeps: I'm not happy about losing 15 gems either... but my fault. At least my combined attack cut off your retreat path. And only about 40 units are left there. |
Re: Declaration of Intent
Did curse of stones affect your units? It shouldn't!
|
Re: Declaration of Intent
Unless they had an indie earth mage I overlooked, it seemed so.

Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear mortals!
Ermor assaulted us without warning and we don't have the power to stop him. Negotiation is not an option against this foe, as the only thing he wants is your utter destruction. Ally now against the tide of darkness, or perish, like the noble C'tis.
Well, I had fun. Lots of intresting encounters with Atlantis. I probably couldn't have won (I think Atlantis had troops fighting Man and/or panganea), but I'm quite sure I put up a fight. Those tupilaks and assasin made my life difficult. I couldn't script my mages to cast 5x Leeching Darkness in normal battles because they tried to spam it in the assasination battles, sometimes killing their own bodyguards. Ugh, sometimes I wished I could give different scripting to assasiantion fights. What I learned: - Reanimate Archers rock. HARD. Just remember to protect them better. - I hate sailing. Especially when I suddenly forget my enemies having it and fail to take anti-raiding measures in time. - Shouldn't have made my prophet on turn one. Should have waited until my first Lizard King. Power of the Reborn King is very good. - When fighting Ermor, Wither Bones and D4 mages are just the thing (just look at the hall of fame to see how much) - It's impossible to get an enchantress with 2 in single elemental path. It's simply not possible. - My god sucked. No late-game power whatsoever. I'll make a better one next time. - Free banes from a death site rule. - Leprosy is not scary. It sucks. Heh, at least Ermor's god will now have limp as a present from my Banes. Well, I'll be soon joining the AI horde. |
Re: Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear morta
Actually, I thought you were in a bit of a winning position against me, until Ermor stepped in. I was running out of steam.
Leprosy was a problem- but not so scary against my Atlantians. We had extra hit points. But I was saddened to realize that when it was cast, my capital produced troops were all doomed. It made me use those troops more aggressively, not less, since there was no return. My Tupilaks were becoming less and less useful with a cost of five death gems, and my death gem income cut down to 7. If you invaded further, I couldn't have afforded to cannibalize the necessary gems to cast. If you scripted say, Raise Skeletons, followed by four leeching darkness, I'd bet my Tupilaks wouldn't have had a chance. They really have no chance to dodge a blow, so they go down quick to melee, despite their cost. I was surprised at how much magic they could shrug off, though. |

Re: Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear morta
Your god have any magic at all?
For crying out loud, how many times do I have to take out Pan's god before I get an honest dominion kill out of it? They don't have any provinces, do they? What is it? Stealthed priests? Invisible provinces? How is it he keeps coming back? And with a small army of Maeneds, as well. This is at least the fourth time already. Time to temple spam, I guess. |
Re: Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear morta
Yeah, I've killed their god a few times too.
My god was supposed to be a w9d4 mother of rivers but I didn't have the CB mod turned on when I made her. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I guess this is what you get by default when that happens. |

Is the server down?
|
Re: Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear morta
It seems to be down. Trying to ask Cooron what's going on... but can never know about people's response times during the weekend...
The other game I play on his server is doing fine so it must be just our game that is down... |
Re: Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear morta
Were back up again. Sorry for taking so long but i was visiting my folks this weekend.
|
Re: Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear morta
No problem. I went to sleep twice last night. I've been exhausted and don't mind the reprieve.
|
Re: Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear morta
I haven't been able to connect to this game for 3-4 days now...
|
Re: Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear morta
I managed to finally get my turn in. But can't connect again, now.
|
Re: Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear morta
I also wasn't able to connect Sat or Sunday. I hope this doesn't cause a stale.

That reminds me, I'm sorry I didn't say this earlier.
Thanks for hosting the game, its been rather captivating. |
Re: Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear morta
The most interesting game for me in a long while.
Things are interesting all the time. Even now I'm throwing my enormous hordes of undead chaff at Tien'Chis powerful cavalry and the losses have been enormous, although a few victories here and there have happened too. As an example, last turn I lost 2600 undeads while I killed below a hundred, and that was just in one battle:) That wasn't my strongest army but that gives you a perspective on how undead chaff does against good units. Yet there is still Atlantis in the game too, with no doubt powerful and vast armies lurking somewhere, and I personally have no idea when he is going to attack, and whom. This game's been a diplomatic victory for me over all things. I was beaten a few weeks ago, then I manipulated C'tis to back away, then I beat Man, and now I don't know who's the strongest on the map. I've for a long time now had a nap with Atlantis, which I still am holding, but I must say I wouldn't be surprised to see him strike my back:) Very interesting game, since the very beginning. And I'd like to thank everyone who is or has been a part of it. And yet, it's still not over. |
Re: Ermor has revealed itself! Cover in fear morta
That was one hell of a fight. I spent an hour watching that battle, praying and hoping that my flanks held against your masses of undead cavalry. Now if I only had 3 more armies that size!
I think the only thing saving me is my advantage in research. The next few turns should be very interesting. |
