Re: Mictlan

I've been having problems conecting sometimes for the past few days. Anyone else?

Lingchih January 14th, 2008 11:07 PM

Re: Mictlan

Yeah, I think Zach needs to restart the server. I've been getting the dreaded hang on "Waiting for game info" screen. You get around that by starting in windowed mode, and then starting up a second instance of the game. Then you can get in. It's a pain though, and I hate windowed mode.

I'll email Zach and see if he can fix it.

Zachariah January 14th, 2008 11:27 PM

Re: Mictlan

i'll restart it, but in the past that hasn't helped. it just takes 2 tries to connect (at least for me).

Is the server down? Can't connect at all today - before I could with a couple of tries but this time nothing is working.

Tyrant January 15th, 2008 10:50 PM

Re: server

I can't get to the server at all now. It's a diferent problem- before it sometimes locked the game and sometimes connected, now it just can't find the host.

Reverend Zombie January 15th, 2008 10:51 PM

Re: server

Cannot find host, either.

Try 205.217.155.218, that's what www.evilzombies.com resolves to for me. I can connect to my different Zachariah-hosted game.

Yeah, game is down. I messaged Zach.

Me too...

and I think TC has been stalling since the New Year - any confirmation?

Lingchih January 17th, 2008 04:58 AM

Re: server

Well, I think there have only been a couple of turns since the new year, with the delay and then the server being down. But yes, if TC is staling, please confirm.

I received the in-game message that Fomoria had cast the Mother Oak, when, in fact, I have cast it (Pangaea). I am just curious to know whether anyone else received the Fomoria event?

I received the Fomoria event, too. The fact is, your Oak overrode his http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Globals

Looks to me like Tien Chi, Ermor and maybe Caelum are not playing anymore. Is this this true, and if so can we get subs or set them to AI? Ermor is probably not worth a sub, but Caelum certainly is.

Are you guys sure Tien Chi is not being played? That last fight, where they broke out of their castle in Tien Chi and defeated the Sauromatian siege, sure did not look like the AI playing.

Yes, I have harpies everywhere. You are all being watched http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Globals

Just telling - can't connect to this server last 2 days.
Don't put me (Marverni) on AI for that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif wondering if server is down again or maybe always down on weekends?

Zachariah January 27th, 2008 03:14 PM

Re: Globals

for some reason, this game has been troublesome. I have to try and connect, force-quit Dominions 3, and then relaunch it again in order to successfully connect. But the server and the game have been running pretty much non-stop, with just a brief downtime a week ago or so.

Lingchih January 27th, 2008 10:08 PM

Re: Globals

When I go to play a turn in this game, I first launch Dom3 in a window

"C:\Program Files\dominions3\dom3.exe" -w

That one will hang. I don't force quit, but just launch Dom3 again, this time in regular fullscreen mode. Then I am able to connect and get in.

After I play my turn, I quit Dom3, and then force quit the windowed one that is still hanging. Seems to work every time.

Are we going to use the new patch?

Lingchih January 30th, 2008 02:49 AM

Re: Globals

I've messaged Zach about installing the new patch. I assume he will do so when he gets around to it. Meanwhile, I have duplicated my Dom3 folder, and patched one copy to 3.14, so that I have both versions available.

Reverend Zombie January 30th, 2008 10:37 PM

Server problems

I tried logging into Zach's server. I experienced some odd behavior: fast "downloading turn" messages repeatedly looping.

I'm running the latest patch.

Lingchih January 30th, 2008 10:47 PM

Re: Server problems

Yeah, I don't think he has patched yet. He hasn't even replied to my message about Testament of Blood being down yet.

What? You AI'd Ulm. That's one of the biggest players in the game. Are you sure he has been staling? I share a 20+ province border with him. If he is gone AI that totally changes my gameplan.

Don't worry, if Ulm go AI Tir will help you wipe them out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Re: Globals

Thanks Holyfrog. They have huge, nasty armies of archers. Gear up those big shields and anti-arrow spells. Of course, who knows what the AI will build now. I'm holding off attacking them for one more turn, in case Tequilich comes back.

Tequilich February 4th, 2008 12:55 AM

Re: Globals

Sorry I didnt mean to stall but I had that funky connection issue after the patch. So i guess I am AI now? It doesnt show me as AI, can I still do my turn?

Lingchih February 4th, 2008 01:03 AM

Re: Globals

Yeah, we all did I think. I believe it's not too late for Zach to undo the set to AI. I don't know if he will read this in time though. And, he may decide to just let you go AI anyway, after two stales. I'm moving troops into defensive positions anyway though. I think AI Ulm will attack me. If you are not set to AI, know that the armies on your border are there just in case.

Tequilich February 4th, 2008 01:29 AM

Nice Air Queen Holyfrog. Hope you don't send her my way. There's tons of drippingly rich Ulm provinces to capture, so I don't think you need any Pan provinces http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Hmm. Time to start wagering Holyfrog. I will wager 1 ULm province, that I can take more Ulm provinces than you do. I took six last turn, to give you an idea of my power. Deal On? You can name the province to be wagered.

Yeah, please take six Ulm provinces this turn as well, then I hope the AI can realize who is the real threat http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif This powerful AI nearly defeat us http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

Lingchih February 13th, 2008 02:11 AM

Re: Globals

Holy Balls, Batman! What a turn! Ulm took back nearly half the provinces I had conquered. That truly is a powerful AI. Tequilich had them set up very well. Still, they can be defeated. I fear much loss of life though. It's a good thing we of Pangaea fear loss of life so lightly.

shard February 13th, 2008 04:14 AM

Re: Globals

You will most likely soon have an even more powerful AI. I'm going out of town again from the 21st for about a week and I don't think a sub will much like the microing my bloated Fomoria has become. With so many players becoming AI I've lost my motivation for this game despite my leading position and I would rather focus my energies and time elsewhere; I think I staled half of my last 8 turns.

In hindsight overrunning Sauromatia was a mistake... but having only one castle for sooo long was just too much of a temptation http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Lingchih February 13th, 2008 04:54 AM

Re: Globals

Well, I think there are enough players still in this game to at least give it a run. I don't want to vote for a winner just yet.

Perhaps I'll leave as well. Too many people go AI, I'm a bit bored, and I certainly need to find a job before I run out of supplies Tir is a small nation, and now it's main army is... wolf tribe archers I think it won't worth a sub.
