T'ien Ch'i is willing to buy Earth Boots. We will pay with fifteen gems of any combination astral/death/earth/nature. We will supply the earth gems for the forging + 5 other gems of any type if you don't have the earth gems. We will pay gold as well. We will also agree to deliver a thistle mace or skull staff as soon as research allows.

Osseric of Arco, do you wish to worship Amanozako? I can see by your attack on the Crystal Citadel that YOU DO NOT.

Be warned it is a great sin against Amanozako to send Elephants to stomp his servants and yet I see that you have done so. It is a sin too, to scorn Him; but you have done this also. And it is a GREAT sin in His eyes to seek to use His secrets in any way other than in His service - AND THIS TOO, YOU WOULD DO!

Be warned and Live. Live and prey to your weak god that you are destroyed in the first shock of the Great Awakening. It will not be well for you to reap Amanozako's wrath!

DonCorazon March 3rd, 2008 02:17 PM

Arcosphalean Elephant Breeding Habits

The Crystal Palace happens to be built upon the seasonal breeding grounds of the Arcosphalean Elephant, Pachydermus Horribilis, which is why the beasts are constantly mounting the statue of Amanozako. Rather than letting your pretender suffer this indignity, we your kind neighbors, would like to repossess the Crystal Palace and restore it to its native habitat.

PashaDawg March 3rd, 2008 11:11 PM

Re: Arcosphalean Elephant Breeding Habits

Wait!

In this game, Don Corazon is playing Arco, and Aristander is playing Jomon.

But...

In EPOTARA, isn't it the other way around?

The alternate universes are blurring and making me pop a screw.

Aristander March 3rd, 2008 11:58 PM

Re: Arcosphalean Elephants

Yes, you are correct PashaDawg. Except there is one important difference.

My Arco elephants in Epotara break morale and trample my own units. Don Corazon's pesky pachyderms defy fire spells, paralyzing blowguns, and early thugs to squish my heavy infantry.

Rest assured that the Crystal Citadel shall be free of "Pachydermus Horribills" and their BLASPHEMOUS breading rites as soon as the stars are right.

DonCorazon March 4th, 2008 12:04 AM

Re: Arcosphalean Elephants

Aristander my friend - the problem is the statues of Amanozako bear an uncanny similarity to the Arcosphalean female elephant in full heat. This incites the male bulls to near berserk morale and has led to many stains on your holy statues.

Rest assured, we shall fix the problem once we have gained control of the province. Fellow pretenders, even our foes, deserve more respect than this...

Re: A hero for our time

Today we morn the untimely death of Kenji the Red Tengu. Kenji left his own kind in their mountain home to serve Amanozako. A master of the sword, Kenji gave his life to vanquish the "Pachydermus Horribills" from the sacred Crystal Citadel.
A statue will be erected in his honor.

DonCorazon March 6th, 2008 02:05 AM

The Fine Line Between Courage and Stupidity

Survivors report Kenji descended from the sky right into the middle of the Arcosephalean army, his blades whirring in a blur of amazing swordsmanship, which lasted about three seconds before he was impaled by a Cardace spear.

Jomon's retribution was furious as they unleashed all manner of sorcerous elements on Arcos, leading to a complete route. The elephants in particular have been traumatized.

Osseric will not be pleased.

Wokeye March 6th, 2008 07:11 PM

Re: The Fine Line Between Courage and Stupidity

With the prophesized coming of star 'v3:15', the Abysians have had large social upheaval and have re-structured their military.

The Volcano Lord is relatively pleased (he cannot be that pleased, being smashed by a horde of indy trolls recently), and will seek to commission some new troops in the border skirmishes against Ulm. ...and maybe for troll hunting, too.

I will apply the new patch when I host the current turn, and so players should play the current turn BEFORE patching. If for some reason there are problems, we'll be able to go back to a previous turn from a backup.

The Abysian matrons have readied their obsidian brooms and 'caldera' flavour air fresheners to rid the Ulmish capital of the smell of dog - truly, the packs of wolves locked inside the city must pose some serious animal welfare/human health issues. The <insert relevant animal welfare organisation here> will be busy, seeing as the beasts are being forced to carry blocks of stone on their backs!

DonCorazon March 11th, 2008 10:49 PM

Re: Turn 20

Arcos elephant population is dwindling rapidly now that Jomon has recaptured the ancient breeding grounds and the elephants don't have the statues of Amanozako to arouse their reproductive instincts. Those of you interested in saving these magnificent beasts, soon to be extinct, please declare war on Jomon.

Save Pachyermis Horribilis!

Osseric of Arco, you wish to take Jomon’s Crystal Citadel by the spear so that your elephants can perform wanton rites for your amusement.
You were warned that it is a great sin against Amanozako to defile His righteous Altar and hence His heavenly essences. YET THENCE YOU’RE LUSTFUL ORGIES YOU WOULD ENLARGE.
It is a GREAT sin against Amanozako to lure others away from his service and into sin and thralldom for your despicable ends. AND THIS TOO, YOU WOULD DO!

Be warned and Live.

Live and prey to your weak god that you are destroyed in the first shock of the Great Awakening. It will not be well for you to reap Amanozako's wrath!

DonCorazon March 13th, 2008 05:17 PM

The Ossericiad

Jomon’s limited interest in the arts and literature makes it understandable as to why you have not read the Arocsephalean epic known as the Ossericiad (standard reading in most classrooms in Alexander). It tells the tale of how the hero Osseric ascended to the heavens, imprisoning the evil Amanozako in a tomb of petrified elephant dung that floats miles above the earth and looks very similar to the moon.

At any rate, Osseric is still walking around enjoying the freedom of being awake and slaughtering mortals as you can see from the Hall of Fame. Amonozako is still a twinkle in the sky and by the time he shows up, we shall see if Osseric is still merciful enough to simply imprison him…

Re: The Ossericiad

“That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die.”

Amanozako will awaken!

When the stars are right the chosen ones will answer Amanozako’s call to astound a reeling universe.

Osseric you have been warned, AND YET YOU DEFILE THE CRYSTAL CITADEL ONCE AGAIN! While The Great Awakening draws ever closer and Amanozako’s shadow looms, still you choose to assault us with the spear in an effort to use His secrets for yourself.

You have seen the signs, ignore them at your peril for soon enough Amanozako’s powers will confound the world.

(I honestly never thought you would attack again so soon or I would have had more mages on patrol. Enjoy your small victory while you can, you won the battle by the tip of your claw.)

Yes, but striking southwards too?? It is but wastelands filled with Abysian firelords and Tien Chi Barbarian hordes!

DonCorazon March 16th, 2008 09:43 PM

Re: The Ossericiad

Wokeye, don't tell me you too have not been reading your Ossericiad? We thought we had made this required reading.

Chapter 874 tells of how in 3890 B.O. Ulmish warriors helped stop the sack of Arcos and in return Osseric pledged to aid the young Ulmites. While Arcos had not wished to get drawn into the endless wars of the south, honor demands we provide some support to fend off demons, barbarians, and other forms of illiteracy.

To the barbarian league (T'ien Ch'i, Abysia and Atlantis):

Ulm like to discuss peace between our nations.
We are well aware that peace will be costly for us, but we are ready to give what is needed. This is our offer:

To T'ien Ch'i
The provinces of Welrydh and Kolermegor.

To Abysia
The province Epernia and 12 water gems.

To Atlantis
The province Carnag and 200 gold.

The demands of Ulm:

The complete withdrawal of troops within Ulm's borders

A 2 year (24 turns) peace agreement.

Signed
Boethius of Ulm

Re: Turn 23

Boethius - maybe we are in league, maybe just coincidence, but barbarians?? Just misunderstood, perhaps?

Nevertheless - an interesting proposal. If only our 'barbaric' leaders could read, then they could pretend to deliberate about it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif

Geraldos Riveros reporting from Arcos:

The 7th legion was slaughtered by a veritable horde of Tien Chin barbarian horsemen. Ulm, no further help will be coming from Arcos. Arcos appeals to the barbarian league for peace...

Meanwhile, the 5th legion's efforts to reclaim the elephant breeding grounds (conveniently, err...coincidentally located at the site of Jomon's Crystal Citadel) continues with little progress. No sign of the mysterious Amonozako, reportedly a fearsome god...

Dedas March 22nd, 2008 04:47 PM

Re: Turn 25

Things are looking very bleak for already misfortunate Ulm. As we are rotting away in our castles the barbarian league is rampaging the civilized world. Arcoscephale, the cradle of great culture, is in danger.
We plead to anyone with the sufficient power to help us. Please help us...
