We should start a fund to make Velusions server solar/ wind powered with backup batteries.

If it is from that nasty weather that just passed through there, it is on it's way here, we are already getting some crazy high winds /cries.

Ermor will fall

We , Argatha, regret to inform Ermor that We are dissolving our NAP. Hostilites will begin in three turns.

We would like to thank Ermor for abiding by the NAP. Ermor was nothing but honorable in this regard. However they are growing too large and powerful and must be checked. We invite any and all nations to help in this crusade against Ermor.

IndyPendant March 4th, 2008 12:46 AM

Re: Ermor will fall

Well well. Things are certainly getting interesting in my corner of the world. ; )

Agartha, just so there's no misunderstandings between us, I take it you declared the end of our NAP on this current Turn 20, so that we can each give our forces the *orders* to invade on Turn 23. Is that correct?

Cor2 March 4th, 2008 02:03 AM

Re: Ermor will fall

That sounds correct to me. It was declared after the host.

Good luck.

Well the new patch is out, do we patch before next turn?

Updated to the lastest patch

BigDisAwesome March 6th, 2008 04:52 PM

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

So does that mean the next turn we do should be with the patch?

thejeff March 6th, 2008 05:04 PM

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

Yes.

IIRC, the only problems occur when connecting to an unpatched server with a patched client.
A patched server should refuse an unpatched client.

I am a little curious as to how somethings will work out, since I submitted a 3.14 turn to be processed on 3.15
Man got a few changes:
Avalon witch changes: Crones strat move 1, mother and daughter random nature/air.

Will any mothers or daughter I recruit this turn get the randoms? What if there was a cost change?
I was moving a Crone 2 provinces. Will she make it?

Foodstamp March 6th, 2008 05:07 PM

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

thejeff,

Keep us informed on that, I am curious how that works as well when existing nations are affected. BTW, did you get my last PM ?

Velusion March 6th, 2008 05:08 PM

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

I was told by Llamabeast that he once asked illwinter that question and they said there would be no problem.

I have a backup of the folder before I patched in any case.

thejeff March 6th, 2008 05:35 PM

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

I don't expect any problems, I 'm just curious how the details play out.

Foodstamp: I did get the PM and will be taking your advice as soon as someone can get into position. Thanks for the warning.

There. That should be suitably mysterious.

To anyone else whose PMs I'm ignoring: sorry. I'm really busy at work these days. Random comments on the forum can be written while things are compiling and the like, but I don't like to do diplomacy or planning without the game in front of me so things tend to slip my mind. Silence is not a sign I'm planning a doublecross or invasion. Just that I've forgotten I haven't already replied.

thejeff March 6th, 2008 09:59 PM

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

It seemed to work out as I'd expected.

The Crone moved 2 provinces and now has a move of 1: The movement orders and destinations are determined by the 3.14 client.

The Mother I recruited had the random: The order had been given, but the actual unit got created on the server.

No cost changes so I don't know how that would play out.

For those who are interested, the Mother and Daughter each get a 100% AN random instead of one of their previous Nature paths. So no more total paths, but a bit more flexibility. Still a very limited nation magically.

Foodstamp March 6th, 2008 10:15 PM

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

Ah ok. I was mainly curious of the existing mages would receive a shot at the random paths, and it sounds like they did. Good stuff http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

thejeff March 6th, 2008 10:33 PM

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

Not the existing mages. Only those being recruited that turn. Not a big deal, but nice.

By the way, are we still on a 24 hr schedule or have we gone to 48, as was originally planned? The status page says 24, but went into negative time remaining before hosting. Doesn't matter to me, but it would be nice to be clear.

Lingchih March 6th, 2008 10:42 PM

I would prefer to stay on 24 for the time being. Maybe in a few turns go to 48.

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

Mo-hi-hai, alchemist of the five elements, carefully stepped through the gate. Entering the courtyard currently substituting as the lair of Fu-tsang Lung, the great Tien Chi dragon of order and luck.

As always, Mo-hi-hai was awestruck by the gods otherwordly beauty. The two magnificent heads resting peacefully on the long silvery body were like symbols of ancient wisdom and divine love. The god spoke:

- Mo-hi-hai, my child. I feel much better since your care for me began. I beleive I shall soon be prepared to leave, yes?

- Father, your wounds are indeed mending with divine speed.

The dragon nodded slowly.

- Thanks to your loving devotion that is. And you shall be properly rewarded. Go home to your wife now, tonight shall your broken love be mended. When her belly grows you must bring her before me, so that I may bless your unborn son.

Mo-hi-hai could say nothing, muted by the most intensive happiness he had ever felt. He stumbled away with tears of gratitude running down his cheeks.

We would like to thank all the sharks that gave their worthless lives to help us break the lines of the Oceanians. We couldn't have done it without them. Breaking through the insane Oceania PD is like crawling forward against a hurricane. But we will prevail. Our God readies itself for combat once again.

Velusion, I have submitted this turn (Turn 24), but I don't think I'll be able to submit the next one on time; my wife and I are going away on a weekend vacation.

Could I get a 24-hour extension on the next turn? (I've also sent this as a PM to you.)

Heh. Well, it's now Turn 25, and I haven't left yet! --But I'm about to. I don't have time to complete this turn before I leave, and I definitely won't be back in time now. So I will need the turn delayed by 24 hours to avoid staling.

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

Tithonos, his muscles bulging hugely, wiped his brow as he watched his goddess battle with the last follower of the snakemen faith, the Lord Benim himself. Maeneds yelled their approval even as they were trampled absentmindedly beneath the great Cyclops's boots. The towering figure finally fell, stunned by the poisons of Stheno and exhausted by his futile but heroic efforts to sustain the cause of Pythium.

Pondering this scene caused the horse-man to realize that but for the will of the Creators and luck that would have been himself falling before the hordes. He hoped that the luck which enabled this victory would continue but knew that to rely upon it would invite disaster.

"What new vistas await me in the future? Shall the forests triumph in the end and become an unbroken green vista or shall all the lands groan beneath the bite of the plow and the stupidity of the herded animal?" With these thoughts Tithonos strode through the now unguarded gates of the Great City.

To Be Continued..

Mighty Ermor is very confused, since we have had no communication with Pythium, Abysia's god is a Divine Glyph, and we find it difficult to imagine their nonexistant Scorpion King ravaging underwater...

Man, sorry about the stale. That's like the first time I have ever staled. I swore I checked it last night, and the turn was not up.

Missed some good battles too. Apparently I won them.

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

Ermor:
That was quite a bloody nose! I underestimated you. If I had sent my entire army we would have won. Live and learn.

This is the first time I have cast blade wind since it was nerfed a few patches ago. I must say, I am unimpressed.

IndyPendant March 11th, 2008 08:40 PM

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

Well, don't give up on the spell completely. I did pad my army with a buttload of tower-shield-wielders in the front line specifically for that spell. A few Blade Wind castings would have chewed up an army of blessed vestals in nothing flat.

But yes, I did notice your castle has just as many units inside--again--as it did last turn. Bah! ; )

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

Pangaea, you owe me 50 Nature gems!

I was surprised you hadn't gotten it up already, but thought since you hadn't, if I could, maybe I could hold it long enough to make some profit.

Meanwhile, the war against Jotunheim goes slowly. He's been driven back to his capital and can only hold out thanks to his pretender. My brave troops fall like chaff before the Son of Neifel, though the longbowmen wounded him again in this battle. Back and forth it goes. He sallies forth, takes a province, I besiege his capital. He returns, drives us out and I retake the other province. Slowly he loses irreplaceable giants, as I send ever more fresh troops to the battle.

Rathar March 12th, 2008 08:06 PM

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

I am watching those battles and they are pretty nasty! I do so love it when games are kind enough to give me lots of scouts!

Sorry about the gems Mr Man! I had other priorities and I've never played Pangea past 10 turns or so so... Oh and I get it up all the time.. Nyuk nyuk nyuk /rimshot

btw, Ermor is getting big, big, bigger! As I assume the three nations between them and I would mind greatly if I marched through them to get to Ermor I am willing to fund a little assistance to those able to slay em!

On another topic. How do we know when a player is getting close to 50% of the provinces? We can all see that Ermor is growing and growing but since the graphs are all relative it is hard to tell for sure.

Foodstamp March 12th, 2008 11:17 PM

Well, I'd love to stop expanding for a while. Wars are expensive, and I don't *like* having a great big bullseye painted on my forehead, like this!

How about it, Agartha? I told you earlier I'd be willing to consider peace if you asked for it... ; )

Ermor holds 54 out of 260 provinces.

Re: Priori - New MA Game (Sign Up Now!)

Foodstamp: Yeah, I have found that the graphs are always misleading. It's why I prefer to play without them. I'm really not as powerful as I look. ; )

Agartha: Fair enough! We have had a rather tepid war so far. Two battles, one province taken, a few scouts lost here and there.

Machaka: I hope that army in The Second Forest (72) is not headed my way. --Or if it is, I *really* hope you plan to honour our NAP, and give me 3 turns' warning before you do anything. I tend to go into a murderous frenzy whenever a foe acts without honour. Just a somewhat paranoid, semi-friendly warning in advance. ; )

Well, it would appear that the Oceanians are broken. We Starspawn expect to eliminate them in a few more turns. They fought well, and were a worthy race for enslavement.

Nice battle there Abysia even if you are AI! Dunno if anyone else had scouts to watch but one Demon Knight stuffed by the gates of the castle allowed Banishment of probably 70 skeleton horsemen.

Definitely the best defense by AI that I have ever seen.
