Re: re

I would like to request that we delay hosting for 6 hours - just broke my router. Firmware update has messed up my router (I think) - e-mail not being sent of recieved.

Will get turn in ASAP. Given my only contribution to the game thus far has been providing messy decorations/abysian corpses for Tien Chi to put on the end of lances I shall probably also be going AI.

I have added LA Abysia to the list of nations I detest (it joins MA Oceania and a couple I have now forgotten ... until I play them again)

cheers

WraithLord July 8th, 2008 09:40 AM

Re: re

I think that Abysia became really awful in dominions III. Of the three ages I was considering LA Abysia to have the best potential but admittedly I've never played them thoroughly.

If think I'll open a complaint thread about this in the main forum (if there isn't one already).

Its really sad how one of the most unique nations dating back to dom-I got so bad.

Jippieh! That was my first victory in MP, then;)

I couldnt have done it without Jomon though;)

WraithLord July 10th, 2008 03:43 PM

Re: re

Sorry to hear that Jazzepi

However my first reaction is - what? - the all mighty Gath gone??? - Sorry, I'm referring to some early comments on the latest patch that the new nations are ubber powered. Perhaps Gath is indeed powerful but not enough to defeat two nations, at least not in this case.

With LA Ermor or R'lyeh it may sometimes take more nations to bring down, so at least new nations are not off the power scale.

Jazzepi July 10th, 2008 05:18 PM

Re: re

I was about to finish up Crushing Jomon, I just had an extremely good victory against their main forces, and then Bogarus joined the fight D:

I couldn't take both of them at the same time. In retrospect I should have gone for some supply items. I didn't realize quite how bad the supply issue would be!

The Gath giants are nice, I was using an E9 N6 blessing, but the Utagard giants are better. Even though you can't field as many of them, the cold aura is a ridiculous beating.

Hide your salads

Some fresh news and a little bump for our thread.

Heard about Abysia being badly beaten. Scouts report heavy TC activity. Hidden graphs are suspected to induce genetic mutations on Polypal puppies. Mictlan has worked on a new maleficient spell : Rain of Snails. Hide your salads, buddies !

Twan July 27th, 2008 11:25 AM

Re: Hide your salads

You'll soon can add Utgard to the badly beaten by TC list.

TC is very advanced in research for a game in turn 40, and already using summons more than regular troops (and things like golems).

MX July 27th, 2008 12:35 PM

Re: Hide your salads

Twan, your SC based forces are quite impressive...TC's life is not easy as well...

WraithLord July 27th, 2008 01:59 PM

Re: Hide your salads

LOL, Strange weather disturbances in Patala coming from its west (TC) can only mean that one (or more) of the Air Queens has been summoned.

I hope the TC induced bad weather wouldn't have a global effect http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

MX July 30th, 2008 12:51 PM

Re: Hide your salads

WOW, 1 vs 4(or even more?). Is TC that strong and horrible??? Alright, it's not my first time facing such kind of situations. But this happened at turn 40, which is too early...Not sure how far TC can go, but I promise to produce enough troubles for each of my enemies http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Patala fight TC for the overlord position of the world, which is easy to understand...But I was confused why Mari & Mict followed him?

"We attack you because you may attack us in the future." -- that's the "reason" Patala presented. But has anyone considered that once TC fall, Mari/Mict will certainly be attacked by Patala? Your "reason" is...excuse me...ridiculous. Especially for Mictlan, you even don't have access to my lands, what can you get from fighting us? I could pay double price if you are fighting for money/gems.

My neighbours, the world is in great war, and it's a chance to extend your own power. Choose your enemy wisely and please...fight for your own sake!

alhorro July 30th, 2008 02:49 PM

Re: Hide your salads

Great manner of both asking and answering asked questions within one sentence. If you were not able to pay double price and produce enough troubles for everyone, nobody attacked you, especially Mictlan — we are such a peaceful nation that we don't even have weapons.

WraithLord July 30th, 2008 04:52 PM

Re: Hide your salads

I thought Marignon was busy fighting Ctis, go figure...

It goes to show that each player has a mind of his own and probably the intel on TC scared them, enough at least to cause them to want to stop TC early. I'm not arguing the point whether they should or shouldn't attack TC. Everyone makes his own plans, if four nations were banding on me I would sure as hell feel bad about it, but every once in a while it happens, usually when I am strong enough to justify an alliance against me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Oh but I can say one thing though, a nation that on turn 40 has so much money, so many gems, extremely advanced research, all kinds of SCs and huge mage backed armies that is easily eating other strong nations is IMHO begging to be ganged upon. For me personally this was the reason to break NAP with TC, it was plain old fear of the OMG huge, light years advanced nation to my west.

EDIT, wow didn't know there's an automatic censoring bot on posts. rephrased in more consensus terminology.

Req hosting extension

Jazzepi, you're still running this show, right?- If so, can you please add 24h to the current hosting interval. There's a very slight chance I'll be able to meet the current deadline.

TIA

Jazzepi July 30th, 2008 04:56 PM

Re: Req hosting extension

I postponed the current turn's hosting by 24 hours. Were you guys looking for a longer hosting interval in general?

WraithLord July 30th, 2008 05:00 PM

Re: Req hosting extension

I personally would benefit from a 72h interval. You know, less "why are you staying so late at the damn computer???" remarks from wife http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Turns are getting longer and taking quite some time to process. I guess we can wait for 45-50, but still my vote goes for extending ASAP.

MX July 30th, 2008 05:17 PM

Re: Req hosting extension

I vote for 72h interval as well. You know that can delay the time of TC's death http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Re: Req hosting extension

The map is unbalanced due to the terrain. Some nations can build cheap forts only in mountains, and there are no mountains at all on this map. Therefore nations, which can build cheap forest/swamp/etc forts have an advantage.

Jazzepi July 31st, 2008 11:56 AM

Re: Req hosting extension

You'd think that the map generator would have added in some mountains.

I'll make sure to add some to it next time.

Really though that's a fault of the castle system being virtually broken http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

All land nations start at south east corner died in early game. They border to Rlyeh and have very little space to build up their own country.

Subtle stales ^^

Hmmm, there's something I don't understand :
Quote:

This message is just to let you know that I received a 2h file from you, and it seems to be fine.

Details:

Game name: Victoria
Nation: Late Era Jomon
Turn number: 42

Who's sent their turn in:
Marignon Waiting for 2h file
T'ien Ch'i Waiting for 2h file
Patala Waiting for 2h file
Mictlan Waiting for 2h file
Utgard Waiting for 2h file
Jomon 2h file received
Bogarus Waiting for 2h file
C'tis Waiting for 2h file
R'lyeh 2h file received

The turn will process when all 2h files have been received, or at the latest at 03:55 GMT on Wednesday August 6th.

Mail date : 03/08/2008 11:15.
And the turn 43 file says : stale turn... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
Maybe a delayed Global from Gath ? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Re: Subtle stales ^^

Ah. Very weird! Really sorry Herode, I don't know what happened there. I can confirm both that the server did receive the file, and that it wasn't present when the game hosted. Since something like this hasn't happened before, I can only guess that I must have messed something up while I was working on the server (which I've been doing a lot lately, but have now very nearly finished doing). Again, really sorry about that, I hope it hasn't messed you up too badly.

Herode August 7th, 2008 02:53 PM

No problem llama, I just reported in case it should have hidden some kind of bug.
But it's the price to pay for the new tools you added to your server, I will gladly pay it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

I'm not feeling well and will need to spend a few days in the hospital.
Can we please postpone hosting for three days?

TIA,

Ermor citadel is now in TC hands as well as Utgard capitol.

The last giants have elected a new jarl (AI).

Thank you Jazzepi.

I have an update though. I was just released from the hospital :) and pending more analysis may or may not need to return in the next few days. Its some type of CMV or other similar virus that has my medics concerned. Anyway, for now I'm back home so for my part we can go back on schedule.

TC War

Boy oh boy, I have never expected such a fierce war against TC.

TC must have worked his researchers to death b/c nothing else can explain the huge research advantage it has. And probably TC has a portal to another dimension in which are cached gems, armies and summons :)

Way to go TC, you're giving a great fight. (Too great if you ask me ;) )

MX August 20th, 2008 04:46 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Our research speed is just ok. Have seen someone finished up all researches at turn 55. I'm quite slow actually:p

Before TC's death I'll help an eastern nation connect to another dimension as well.:angel You guys never win:D

Dispell someone ?

Huhu, R'lyeh with a Stellar Focus preparing some Wish factory, who would love this ?

Is there anybody able to dispell this thing quickly ?

WraithLord September 3rd, 2008 04:20 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

The markets of Patala are open for trade. Patala is interested in earth or death gems. In return it can give equal amount of astral or fire gems, or even forge up to lvl 6 items of equivalent cost.

Also to the players on the westerns side of the map I'm afraid I have some unpleasant news. The three nations set about to stop TC (Patala, Mictlan and Marignon) have not met their objective, not even close. What happens is that TC is breaking the resistance and is on the attack. Updates to follow.
So, unless we manage to stop it you may end up with a nation that controls territories belonging previously to six different nations. Consequences should be clear.

This is also a good point to take off the hat at the great show MX is putting on. Shrewd and cunning, he is slowly but surely crushing the opposition. Way to go friend :)

WraithLord September 11th, 2008 10:31 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Turn 55 and its taking me ages to complete every turn.
Fellow players, what do you think about switching to 84h or 96h?

Last turns are quite stressing since there's so much to do and so little time so I usually half finish my turns :(

Anyway, I'll be out of home this weekend so can we please extend hosting by 24h?

Jazzepi September 11th, 2008 12:47 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Put in a 48 hour extension.

Is there anyone else interested in switching to a longer hosting cycle?
