Yeah, can't see anyone taking up the sub offer for T'ien Ch'i now. I had a go at finding a sub, but as Homer Simpson would say "I tried and I failed, the moral is never try"

My vote now is to set T'ien Ch'i to AI. That has to be better than just letting them stale it out. They'll probably just be Demon Monkey food soon anyway.

Yeah, they're demon monkey food . . .

This turn didn't go at all as planned, but the one thing I don't get is why the archers aimed for the commanders, you couldn't have had the bogus gang orders, I think.
Ok, since I've been in war since turn 10 constantly, saved Pangaea from Neif. without a months peace I'd enjoy some help against this Fomorian outbrake!
Take a bite of Fomoria!
This years bounty is 10 gold for Fomorian giant, and 50 for Fomorian king, and 100 gold and 3 gems of all kind to the one that takes one of Fomoria's forts.

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

??? Everything went completly wrong,
I didn't put troops on move and patrol but they somehow decided on doing that anyway, I was sure I ordered some other thing that didn't go as they were supposed to???
And on another matter, my congratulations to Master Miagi, you lured me like a damn fool, you couldn't have done it better!

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

I, as Lanka, have declared war on Fomoria. We've enjoyed them as a neighbor, really, but the time has come :) Hostilities will ensue in 2 more turns.

Calahan August 21st, 2008 07:53 AM

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

Yes, the Fomorians are not too surprised by the war declaration from Lanka. I can't say it is a welcome change to the relationship between our two nations, but maybe it is good that at least now Fomoria has a chance to de-wheel the formidable Lankan war machine.

The Fomorians also hope they can prove to be far more worthy foes to Lanka than the pathetic efforts of Arco and T'ien Ch'i. As the rulers of both simply run away at the first sign of trouble, while their troops laid down, died, and ended up in the monkey feeding trough!

It's time for 'FreshMeat' to have it's own version of the credit crunch! Will anyone remain unscathed? :D

Calahan, Lord of Fomoria

ps Anticipatient. I'm still very much a newbie regarding Dom diplomacy and customs, so to avoid any problems regarding NAP cancelations etc, here's my interpretation of the procedure. Game is currently on turn 41-

Turn 41 (received in-game cancel 3-turn NAP notice, so is therefore Turn 1)
Turn 42 (Turn 2)
Turn 43 (Turn 3)
Turn 44 (check the battle reports for spilt monkey blood!)

Let me know if your interpretation is different to mine. You've been a very good, and honourable neighbour/friend, and looking forward to a well fought war on both sides :)

ps Executor. Can't say everything went wrong for you last turn. That mounted guy with the lance certainly deserves some credit! A very impressive critical hit I must say. And I'm dis-appointed that I won't get chance to question the other guys I lost, since I'd love to know who's scripts they were following!
Also, the battle where I seemed to target your commanders with my arrows was triggered, I think, by either your blood slaves (as they are counted as viable 'fire rearmost' targets) or by the darkness making my precision so bad that the arrows were in fact just miles off target! Pretty sure that stealing Bogus mate's 'Fire Commanders' script is a well accepted banned exploit, and I'm not the sort of Dom player who tries to win at ANY cost.

Executor August 21st, 2008 08:55 AM

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

Bogus gang is in my lands since turn... 15 or so, never had the time to send someone to kill them, had too much going on, and when I finally thought I could have a couple of turn peace to build up vampires and such, you attacked so I guess this game is as well as over for me, but I'ma give you hell before I go under!!!

Calahan, If you are referring to battle in 34, they weren't supposed to attack you, don't know what went wrong, that was pretty much the last of my sacreds and If I wanted to attack you I would have blessed them.

Calahan August 21st, 2008 09:48 AM

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

Executor. If you check the battle order for (34) in the last turn, the first battle happens in the magic phase, so when your troops arrive during the movement phase, you've already lost control of the province, so your army wasn't able to defend your fortress. They therefore attacked my army instead.

The critical hit I mentioned above was in reference to the battle in (43). Big unexpected Ouch!

Hi, I just found out that I lost my best friend of more than twenty years... I request a 72 hour hold. I just need some time to mourn.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I'll delay it now.

hrrrmmm.. I just got home and should have come here before going to llammaserver. I'll go undelay the game. Better fortune and happier times to you, Bwaha. See you in other games.

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

Actually, executor, if he managed to gain control of bogus, one of the very nice things about bogus and co is that they ARE able to aim specifically at commanders. I kind of consider it rude of whoever used this command and didn't tell you about it after you pointed it out specifically.

anticipatient August 21st, 2008 04:17 PM

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

Nevermind my comments about rudeness.

Calahan, I was pretty much just going to wait until you attacked to fight, since I am bad at keeping track of turns and NAPs, so we'll go with your interpretation.

By the way, I think the llamaserver is down until 25th. Because it seems to be broken ATM and Llama is out of town until 25 or 26.

He doesn't have bogus orders the gang is on my turf, although some bastard gave it to all units back in tigerstripes and went AI after, your game anticipatient you were jotunheim.
Lamaserver isn't down, I just postponed blitzkrieg, everything is working fine.

Can I please request a 24hr delay for the current turn. Fighting 3 wars takes a lot of (time consuming) planning!

And Ubercat, which box of campaign badges would you like sent to you for your Maenads to wear? Those currently available include-

"I love Demon Monkeys"
"Lanka Worships the True Pretender God"
"Down with Giants"

Game is delayed. As for the campaign badges, I choose none of those you mentioned because none are true. We don't love demon monkeys. The Lankans don't yet worship the true pretender god and it was Niefelheim that started that "Down with Giants" stuff to elicit sympathy after his invasion of us turned sour on him.

However, come up with a slogan we like and we'll need about 5 truckloads, not just a box. Thanks!

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

There was never a down with giants campaign. I was stuck between two giants, a terrible position for Sauromatia by the way, who was I supposed to attack?
And funny enough I menaged to kill Neifelheim, and am still alive against Fomoria although he's ransacking around my lands and sieging my forts...

Sh-t. I broke 4/5 of my LCD computer screen. :o/ Smashed. White, black and pink. No good. I can't run dom3 on any other computer at the moment, so the 10 or 11 games I'm in need subs :( I'm really sorry. Hopefully it'll be temporary (anyone know if it's possible to replace monitors on laptops?)

Okay, I go to post on the next game =(

Hey Executor... still not getting turns subbing for lanka.
So anticipant, if you still want this let ex know.

Otherwise, you guys may want to pause the game.
best chris

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

Let me know what you guys want to do, either in the thread or by PM's. I don't have the time to closely monitor the situation so I'm trusting the players to decide things.

Calahan September 9th, 2008 11:41 AM

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

I'm probably going to need a 24 or 48 hour extension on this game anyway, as there is a lot the Fomorian's need to work out each turn, and no free time for me to do it (my mid-weeks are really hectic at the moment).

Maybe a short delay will also allow Anticipatient a chance to get his monitor problems sorted so that he can rejoin us :)

I'll go ahead and delay 48 hours. It can't hurt.

No. I didn't redo the turn.

You got another turn anticipant, as I was trying to play your turn for you as you asked... I requested a turn resend.

Since you're back on the thread and the moderator never did the substitution, I'll just drop out of the discussions and wish you all good luck.

Guys, if you need Email substitutions then you need to tell me, explicitly. I don't have time to read between the lines. As I said at the top of the page, tell me what you need done.

And also, PLEASE include all info including the game name in any PM's. I'm adminning another game as well. Thank you.

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

I've sent some in-game messages and set to AI the same turn, don't know if they'll be sent. I'm almost done for, anyway, been nice playing you all.

Ubercat September 17th, 2008 07:54 AM

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

The guy who was supposed to be taking over Lanka says that he's no longer interested in playing Dom3, due to hurricane Ike. I'm putting it on AI. I don't have time to advertise for a sub and how slim are the odds of getting someone, anyway? If somebody else wants to volunteer for the advertising position I'll wait till later today to give you a chance to speak up.

Ubercat September 22nd, 2008 09:43 PM

What say you good people?

There are only three of us left in this game and both of you are probably much stronger than I am. Does it seem like one of you has a clear advantage? I'd be happy to concede if one of you does as well. It would free us up to get into new games.

It was a big mistake of me to take EA Pangaea. I don't know what I thought I was going to accomplish. They're crippled by a lack of death magic which their best spells require.

Ossa September 23rd, 2008 03:53 PM

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

Yes, Formoria defenitly has a clear advantage.

I'd say he is the winner of this game. I hoped to come up as the laughing third while Llanka and Formoria bash each others armies, but the giants are too stron for this.

I'm quite happy about being alive so late in the game though;)

Calahan September 23rd, 2008 04:26 PM

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

'Hi All', or should that just be 'Hi Ubercat and Ossa' now?

It certainly looks like I have a very strong position now as Fomoria. I'd guess it's close to being unstoppable, although this is my first MP game to get anywhere near that sort of stage, so I'm not exactly an expert on when a nation becomes unstoppable.

Must say I'm a bit disappointed at the pretty sudden end to my 'competitive' wars with Sauromatia and Lanka. Although one of the main probs with any game that last 2-3 months is that at certain times people are inevitably going to drop out, and there's nothing anyone can do about it :( Sad, but that's just part of the game I guess.

I'd be happy to accept a concession victory at this point. Sauromatia are now effectively dead, since the AI tried busting out of some sieges last turn with disastrous consequences. Think that's one of the AI's weakest points, as 'Executor' (or any human player) would certainly never have tried it. Fomoria v Lanka promised to be a real tough war, and one I was looking forward too, as it would be my first ever real taste of a late game MP battle :) But that won't happen now against the AI, as I've beaten the AI enough times in SP to know it'll be a seriously one-sided affair from here on.

So 'Ubercat' and 'Ossa', if you are both happy to concede at this point then I'll accept it, and give you both my thanks for being part of an enjoyable game, and along with my thanks to all the other players of course :) I know I'd appreciate the extra time I'd free up for my other games if this one did come to an end. Coordinating multiple Cloud Trapezers and Teleporters per turn is a real time munching exercise that's for sure!

Ubercat September 23rd, 2008 09:05 PM

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

'Grats, Calahan. I'll go and set myself to AI now. If Ossa does the same then the game should end on it's own, I think.

Ossa September 24th, 2008 02:16 AM

Re: FreshMeat - new thread, and game started!

Will do.
