Re: DeadlyMedley - running

Micah claims that he's seen this before and everything is working fine on the back-end. However, when I submitted my turn to artifacts there was no reply mail nor was the status updated on the web-page. As you can see, all the games are stuck on "Last Updated 16:15 GMT".

so, i have no idea myself. I'll submit my turn before the deadline, but it won't tell us one way or the other... until the turn hosts.

however, isn't their some way to roll back a turn using the admin options for the game? that way, if worst comes to worst, it'll be salvagable and we can just go ahead as normal based on the assumption that things will work out :)

sent turn in. no change in status, no new turn yet.

/me crosses fingers :)

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

Yes, turns can be rolled back if necessary. I'd delay till llamma gets back, but that's 5 days. I still vote for waiting overnight and seeing how things look in the morning, as long as we're pretty sure that it's not due to host till then.

you mean emerge scrabbling from the detritus in time to see caelum and hinnom squabbling over your choicer parts?

that's if you're lucky ;p

yah, Llama is updating - and it sent me my confirmation email.

You mean the battle hardened victor of this war will have earned his right to challenge Caelum and Hinnom for ascendancy? ;)

What's happening in the rest of the game peoples? Any good wards going on?

Keep in mind that this new forum software doesn't make new PM's as obvious as the old one. You don't get a flashing icon, just a tiny little number next to a tiny little "Private Messages: Unread..." in the upper right corner of the screen.

sansanjuan August 29th, 2008 10:59 AM

Ossa- are you checking your PMs?

Ossa,
Sent you a PM regarding a province a couple days ago. Did you get it?

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

Vanheim is creeping up on a fourth stall in a row, with no word in the thread from StrictlyRockers as to why. I'll PM him. If I don't receive a reply within a reasonable amount of time after the next stall I'll go ahead and AI him.

I sure wish people would take care of such things themselves.

archaeolept September 10th, 2008 04:11 PM

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

yah, he disappeared from another starting game (the pimp one), so he's no doubt AWOL.

Ubercat September 11th, 2008 08:54 PM

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

Judging from his profile I'd say that SR has been on since my PM and hasn't responded, or even returned my read receipt. I'll give him more time, however, because I'm considerate and it's not like we're all waiting for him yet. There are still other players who haven't taken their turns.

sansanjuan September 26th, 2008 02:10 PM

Reminder...

All,
Just a reminder if you are the last to submit your turn... give the server 5 minutes to quickhost and then take your next turn. I've been guilty myself a couple times on missing such an opportunity but it certainly helps speed things up.

Greatly enjoying the game. R'yleh is curious on the current global situation(s). Feel free to post or PM if you'd like to chat or trade.

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

Vanheim just staled 3 times in a row. He did that last month as well and then started playing again with no word as to what was going on. If he stales a fourth time I'm going to AI him. He's got 11 stales total with no word as to why.

When I made this game I thought of using the rule "Two consecutive stales and you'll be AI'd." that everyone else seems to use. I decided not to, thinking it was kind of rude. Now I'm thinking they were right on the money. Too many players don't police themselves and the others suffer endless delays as a result.

archaeolept October 6th, 2008 03:00 PM

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

yah, we had bad luck w/ stalers - throws the game off. Not that it has mattered to me - I've now spent 3/4 of the game struggling to keep aby from wiping me out :)

Dragar October 9th, 2008 06:52 AM

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

Well, struggle no longer ;) That was a nice tough war of attrition we fought, couldn't kill that damn cyclops off, so close a few times!

With caelum marching in and as of this turn rlyeh attacking I'm pretty much devoid of army and am going AI. Enjoy fighting over the scraps!

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

Dragar - I've never fought a nation that is pretty much a "hard counter" to what i'm playing. I couldn't make any real headway ever against you, and had to settle for a long bitter guerrilla war. You prevailed against me every turn pretty well; but, of course, the end result was Pyrrhic as I dragged you down with me :)

It was my fault for not understanding how strong the EA aby sacreds were, as I had not encountered them before. In retrospect, I should have offered to split those northern territories, and we could have then expanded in two different directions. I doubt you would have accepted, though.

good fight.

Dragar October 12th, 2008 09:35 AM

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

Yeah, they're good, probably is run into high prot and fire res and they are useless. My smite trap with all my anointeds was all I could think of, but that damned cyclops got away! I have to thikn of something a bit more diverse next time I play them, hard to think what though..

I was satisfied that in on eo my last turn I managed to bloody caelum a bit at least - took out 5 equipped bane lords and a few eagle kings.

archaeolept October 29th, 2008 01:53 AM

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

that was a stupendous attempt by t'ien ch'i to deny caelum control of my cap, which would have brought tyrant to 6 vp. supid birds siege pretty quick ;p

if there hadn't been a reinforcing army for a second attack, Juffos would have held the day.

Now, if caelum assaults, w/ his handful of eagle kings, and prevails, he should win; depending on whether or not he is losing abysia.

It's like all of Caelum's armies finally decided to show up :)

Not ALL of them. I have a few on my front porch!!!

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

i believe llamaserver may not be accepting turns, at the moment, though it is unclear. I've gotten no receipts, nor has the status page updated my turn as in.

edit: and soon after posting this, i got a receipt - and it is updated on the status page, along w/ caelum... we'll see if it eventually hosts ;)

archaeolept November 1st, 2008 05:50 PM

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

heh, my capital seems to be a popular place - there were 4 battles, and I wasn't even involved in any :)

Caelum still holds it, w/ his reinforcement army, but at least this turn's potential assault was delayed.

also, some protips for Hinnom:

1. I am not caelum. teleporting a thug onto my one remaining unsieged castle seems of dubious benefit.

2. encumbrance of 11 is not a good place to start for a trampler. This is even more the case for a flying trampler.

3. when sending thugs against me or caelum, you might want to consider having lighting resistance. That way, your melquarts will be less likely to die to my 1 PD... mind you, with 111 fatigue after one round of trampling and my attack, you were getting pretty beat up anyways from my phantasmal warrior and serf warrior :)

Ossa November 1st, 2008 07:09 PM

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

Mrf... thanks for the advice:/

1. I teleported blindly. I had no idea whos province it was, I just *hoped* it would be caelums. I know this doesnt sound any better;)

2. Noted.

3. I actually didnt notice encumbrance gets so high by trampling and flying:/

did we decide to end this game??? Llamaserver is not carrying it anymore on his status page, and when I send in a new turn, I get a message that says LLamaserver is unfamiliar with this game.

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

llama is having a secondary issue. a few games on it have gone down. sit tight; there will be time enough for my glorious victory.

Tyrant November 8th, 2008 05:37 PM

What the heck?

I got a turn 50, then a 51, then another 50, then a 52, this is not at all right.

archaeolept November 8th, 2008 05:54 PM

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

delete your .2h file just in case and use the turn 52. it seems good to me. :)

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

Thanks everyone!

That was a weird game and i was feeling guilty about the easy win after my early neighbors all went AI, but I felt i earned it with the fierce fighting at the end there!

@archaeolept- Terrific geurilla campaign and a fearsome Cyclops. I can't remember another SC that gave me that much trouble, and i always admire a player who sticks out a losing cause and makes his opponent pay. /salute

@ Tien Chi- that was a truly amazing research curve and sprint to Arcane Nexus, well done!

@ Ubercat - thanks for organizing and running the game:up:

archaeolept November 10th, 2008 06:49 PM

Re: DeadlyMedley - running

yah, that SC was coming back better than ever... oh well, it would have taken a few more turns to set him up :)

You should thank abysia for your win - i was all ready to contest ulm with you, early on, but aby's attack on turn 10 or so ended that plan. I've never played something that was so much a hard counter to everything I had. i couldn't touch his burning ones.

It was a fun game, even though I've been losing wars for the past 35 turns :)
