Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

Hey Agartha, you alive? Now's not the best time to be staling!

Let's see a spirited defense of the home front. :)

AreaOfEffect October 23rd, 2008 08:11 PM

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

The player for Argatha admitted to taking on more then he can handle. It explains why he hasn't put forth much of a defense. He said he wanted to stick it out and not go AI, but now he has staled.

I don't think he's in the sort of position I would want to place a sub in. If he stales again, I'm tempted to place him on AI. It would put up more of a fight then total inaction.

Anyone disagree?

vfb October 23rd, 2008 08:59 PM

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

You mean taking on too many games? Or taking on LA Man? :)

I don't see anything wrong with setting Agartha to AI now. It's better than him staling. No disagreement here.

AreaOfEffect October 23rd, 2008 10:40 PM

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

I'll check in right before the turn limit and if he still hasn't submitted then I'll set him to AI. I don't see any reason to set that sort of action before the last hour.

I extended the turn by 2 hours to coincide with the time I usually wake up.

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

I am sorry for not letting everyone know that I was more or less just playing the turns out.

I didn't want to set it to AI as it might attack someone I had a NAP with when they where unprepared or in a war with no defense agianst my border.

I staled by accident but it did bring it to my attention that maybe I wasn't fair to the other players by not announcing this so they could get a piece of the territory.

My apologies to all....I had sent in my turn but got a PM sugessting I set it on AI so I had the turn resent and set it to AI.

Good luck all and hope I will see you in the future when things slow down and I am NOT (as in never) in 9 games at the same time.

It's a common mistake for new MP players Grudge. Don't sweat it. But 9 games? I was once in six and thought my brain was going to explode.

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

Our apologies to any scouts who were accidentally patrolled out of the Dawn Land and thereby did not get to sit in on the festivities that took place this month.

The final tallies were:

Friendly Commanders: 22, killed 0
Friendly Units: 267, killed 122
Enemy Commanders: 16, killed 8
Enemy Units: 359, killed 276
Enemy Undead: 23, killed 23

A glorious victory! And this with our troops so discouraged after living on a strict Turkey diet. A great many jaguar warriors were lost, but the cavalry of Bogarus is no more.

Well, Mictlan admires your bravery for charging across the river!

And I'm sure you've got more tricks up your sleeve. By the way, if you're really planning on invading, I hope you made some sandwiches or a box lunch or something. There's not a lot to eat over here.

P.S. Thanks to AreaOfEffect for putting Agartha out of its misery.

Oh the plan was sound in principle, it's just that some key properties of Astral Fire, Astral bless and magic resistance were overlooked.

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

Kali has pondered long and assiduously, after being informed that there is indeed another nation of death still in the world, and occupying much of it's lands. Though she has sympathy for the Atlanteans, after being driven from their home in the sea by R'lyeh, she sees this as no reason to embrace the tenants of death. All the Atlantean mages now use the death magic, and this is not acceptable.

Therefore, Kali has declared that Atlantis is the new Enemy of the World. Though we have no border with Atlantis, we shall support any nation that goes to war with them, to rid our world of their misguided blight.

All other wars in progress (save for the clean-up of the Agarthans) should be ended. Petty differences can be resolved once Atlantis has been removed from the world.

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

You know, I notice that Marignon tends to war upon nations that it doesn't share a border with. Ergo, other nations would be doing most of the fighting and dying in said wars (in this case it is Bogarus). This strikes the countess of Ulm as eminently sensible, given how large Atlantis has become.

From my perspective, Marignon will soon border a nation it has declared war against. Open up the flood gates and awaken the sleeping dragon.

Dragon? Had not thought of that, but it's a great idea. Page, go find that sleeping dragon and wake it up. It's time to fight!

Mictlan is proud to announce the completion of the construction of our doomsday machine. So don't anyone go invading us or anything, or you'll be doomed!

Secondly, our special forces have conducted a raid in the former lands of Agartha to target a network of terrorist foreign fighters who had committed the unpardonable sin of kidnapping and killing one of our ambassador scouts.

Atlantis is on the run from the mighty forces of good, and Bogarus isn't doing bad either. Ulm, shall you join us in this glorious fight? You have been very quiet all these years, so we really don't know where your sympathies are. But join us in the fight against Atlantis, and you will be rewarded.

The server sent me messages about receiving my files from turn 32 after it had already received them and already given me turn 33. It then proceeded to list my turn as submitted, when indeed I had not. Due to the buggy nature of the server, I have temporarily turned off the quick host.

To weigh in on the last topic, my impression is that spying/scouting is not an act of war, however, causing unrest is.

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

Back to the game:

Mictlan has urgent news for the world!

As we previously explained, Mictlan's ambassador to Man was brutally abducted and shot by terrorist archers in the ex-Agarthan lands. That is not news. But what is news is that when Mictlan's commander of special anti-terrorist units arrived in the ex-Agarthan lands, he found bodies strewn everywhere! Corpses on the fields! Corpses in the ditches!

Mictlan hereby accuses Man of practicing dark magic, and not cleaning up dead bodies. Probably Man left the bodies unburied in anticipation of conducting all sorts of horrid necromantic experiments on them!

The tyrant ruling the nation of Man must be overthrown and replaced by one who does not dabble in the dark magics.

Marignon, your task is clear.

-- Hunter of Mictlan, who may previously have been inaccurately referred to a 'Ghost', but actually is more along the lines of the Sort-of Resurrected Hunter. Really! He's much more like some sort of benevolent spirit than anything ghostly.

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

Ulm, while supporting our fellow humans in principle, has done nothing aggressive against the nation of Atlantis. Any reports to that effect should be filed, in triplicate, with our foriegn ministry. They will be attended to in a timely manner by the vampires in the Department of Ministerial Vampires (DMV). Keep in mind that to the vampires in the DMV, due to their immortality and complete lack of promotion prospects, years can seem like mere hours. Hopefully it seems that way to you too.

Mictlan could not agree more!

Ulm is a true ally of the foes of death.

But the Nation of Man, on the other hand, well, just look at all those dead bodies! And who knows how many corpses they have stashed in all those crypts that Man has erected across the lands. I'm betting ... lots!

Says the nation with a legion of longdead.

As for those bodies you found, those were unruly criminals of the state. Their guilt was proven to the local judge and their execution was processed according to article 1232-s of the penal code. The majority were convicted of tax evasion, which is a serious vilation in the nation of Man. Man does not allow the burial of the recently deceased unless proper burial approval forms have been signed by the deceased or there nearest kin and approved by a tier 4 magister.

Mictlan has been a disrespectful guest of the state. There visitation during the fall festivals were tolerated. However, it seems that, in their drunken idiocy, they have staggered to the inner regions of Man. It is now winter and the festivities have concluded. Though such an occasion would normally mandate that we deport our honored guests, their joy ride into the inner region has caused them to witness the location of undisclosed public offices.

It has therefore been determined by a tribunal that the visitors from Mictlan be executed for their crimes. The nation of Man takes the disclosure of undisclosed locations very seriously. We are a private people and don't like unauthorized personal snooping where they shouldn't. We ask our guests to please hold their position as tier 6 magisters arrive to carry out their punishment.

Have a nice day.

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

Those are not longdead! They are the wounded soldiers of the evil Bogarian empire, who sought to invade the pure and holy lands of Mictlan. To tell you the truth, some of them were really not looking so good after that battle. But, the divine Hunter, benevolent spirit of Mictlan, has helped them get back on their feet again. They are feeling much better now, and have decided to stay in Mictlan, where peace reigns and people laze about on grassy knolls, enjoying freedom and a few choice beverages.

Anyway, we have heard of some strange Pagan ceremonies in the land of Man that occur during the winter solstice, and we thought we'd bring you some turkey. You like turkey, right? Everyone likes turkey!

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

Marignon has investigated the accusations against Man, and has found them not guilty of using the death magic. They sure do like to kill peasants, but there is no crime in that.

We are also willing to overlook a troop of undead that Mictlan may have. We assume they were made to combat Ermor, in a kind of fire vs. fire type of war. We sincerely hope we do not see their numbers grow though.

Well, unfortunately most of our citizens are mindless thralls... the ones that aren't tend to wield very large swords, or are immortal and drink blood. Either way, they usually object to being parted with their nice juicy brains.

Lingchih November 1st, 2008 11:23 PM

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

In this lull in the activities, as Llamaserver slowly recovers, we of Marignon would like to remind everyone that we will tolerate no casting of the death magic. No means none. If we see a new Bane Lord, or undead elephants, or a new troop of zombies pop up, there will be retribution. We have been tolerant of Mictlan, since they share similar values that we do, and can eventually, we hope, be brought into the light.

That being said, we will tolerate no use of the death magic, even by our friends and allies, unless a "Needed Use of Death Magic" form is submitted to our Thaumaturg Council, and approved. Even then, said nation will be frowned upon from that point on.

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game (running)

Mictlan would have Marignon know that wherever the Holy Spirit of Hunter goes, the sick and infirm are made hale, even if they are like, really really sick and not moving very much, and sort of smell a bit off.

The Holy Spirit of Hunter knows no magic but Holy magic, for he is most Holy. And his healing powers are a divine gift, and cannot be shut off like some silly faucet of holy water.

Also, the term "zombie" is very passé, and somewhat disparaging. Please use the politically correct term "élan challenged."

It seems then, Mictlan, that you do indeed need to submit a "Needed Use of Death Magic" form, to Marignon, by way of the PM.
