Added the recent requests to the first post. I'm thinking this game probably shouldn't be started until after Christmas, since that tends to be a busy time for a lot of westerners.

Ok ;) If someone asks for Kailasa he can haz it, I'm not even sure that I'll be able to play the game and if I eventually do I have no problem choosing other nations :)

Thanks. Of course, I don't remember when Catholic Christmas occurs - just hope it won't be too long... ;)

I'm assuming we won't be starting until at least the 2nd of January when Tifone gets back. Just chiming in to disregard my previous post; it was indeed the alcohol, Orania is a great map :p

After much deliberation, I've decided to also take part of this game. Please put me up as a provisional.

The tribes of Marverni shall show you how real men fight:half naked.

Which half? ;) And Happy New Year to all!
On another topic - I would prefer to use non-toroidal map. Among those I've seen, I think Dawn of Dominions is the best. Especially as it's targeted as EA.

I was interested in this when it started... came to the thread to check out some stories and found that the game hasn't started yet... Sauromatia if you're still taking :D

Though the coming of chainmail is undeniably a great advantage to the armies of the Tribes, it is opposed to the ancient tradition of half-naked warfare.

Thus, upon their last meeting, the druids of the Carnutes decreed that any man who wishes to wear armor will have to abstain from wearing trousers.

Oh, and I think we're a bit too many for Dawn of Dominions now.

Orania has about 260 land provinces but only 20 Water ones, so squeezing in two water nations would really cramp their style compared to the 10 (provisional) land players I think (Until they go all darwinian on us and crawl out of the oceans).

Hello folks,

Wondering if I could sign up for this game if there are any openings left. I would like to take the fighting men (and women) of Ulm as I see a lot of good role playing potential with them (providing I don't get steamrollered by giants and demons like last time...).

Maybe another map than Orania will fix this problem? ;)

If we go for a larger map, eventually, with a bit more water, I'd be glad to make a very stupid thing and go for... EA Oceania!!!1!11!!onehundred!!eleventy!1!

Re: Chronicles_EA: Second-pass Signup and Discussion

Very brave. But still, it's MA Oceanis that is genmerally considered unplayable... %) All the same, EA can be interesting enough - and may provide you with more insight on what is needed to make MA working (remembering a discussion on which of sometime ago... ;) ).

Are any spots still left? If so, I'd like Atlantis. If that proves to not, in fact, be possible (due to not having enough water provinces maybe?), I'd also like to try Agartha.

Hmm. It seems like our noble benefactor has dropped out of the other Chronicles game and another MP game he was involved in :( Looks like we might have to take it upon ourselves to get this thing organised.

Weeell, I guess the first thing to do (assuming you are in fact gone, Lokean, if not please step in and pimp slap me down for getting up in your grill) might be to finalize the map we're playing. Orania, our original suggestion, could easily accomodate the.. 15? players who're interested except for the fact that R'leyh and Atlantis would have 20 water provinces between them which might be a pain for a hopefully slower paced roleplay game (or maybe they will like the tension it could bring *shrugs*). If your serious about playing Oceania Tifone then maybe we should find a decent underwater map :D Awakening seems aboot right in province count, despite being a bit plain. Other than that Glory of the Gods or Edi's Faerun map are the only ones I know of that might fit. Anyone else know any decent maps of the right size?

Also, an updated player list since I guess Lok won't be able to update the one at the start of the thread. Anyone not in the list who wants to be or anyone who no longer wants to play?

Arco ------------------ Radiogibbon
Ermor ----------------- MaxWilson
Mictlan --------------- Qio
Abysia ---------------- Soyweiser
C'tis ----------------- NKIan
Pangaea --------------- GP
Agartha --------------- Ruminant
R'lyeh ---------------- Incabulos
Kailsa/Oceania? ------- Tifone
Lanka ----------------- Wrana
Marveni --------------- Vanslime
Helheim --------------- Baalz
Atlantis -------------- Darkwind
Ulm ------------------- Jybalbyle
Sauromantia ----------- Mithras

Edit: Man my BB code skills suck.

Re: Chronicles_EA: Second-pass Signup and Discussion

Yep, I was about to post that Lokean was unable to continue too :(

I would be more than glad to be Oceania if we find a map were we can have some good underwater skirmishes :D But if necessary I can also switch to Kailasa without problems, really, a good map for everyone is more important than my nation :)

Before we start, I'd recommend everyone to check himself if he really wants to play the game :smirk: , really, being a game so fond on stories it's hard to replace a player, we lost Ylvali in the MA one and that's not good :o

The special provinces on the Faerun adventure variant might make for some RP inspiration. 69 Sea provinces as well.

Ruminant January 15th, 2009 11:36 AM

Re: Chronicles_EA: Second-pass Signup and Discussion

Faerun does sound like the optimal choice; epic in scope and easy on the eyes to boot. The question is do we run the adventure version or just the regular? For those who've never tried the map the adventure version means that certain provinces on the map (major cities, sites of power, etc) have special defenders, like the dwarves of Mithril Hall or the undead and demons of Hellgate Keep, some of whom can be quite tough to beat).

While this would really unbalance a normal MP game (some defenders have quite significant magical items you can aquire, some people might start out with a province connected to their initial castle that they won't be able to take for a year or two and I can't quite recall but I seem to remember something about Edi placing special sites in some of the defended provinces? *shrugs*) I can only see it adding flavour and fun to our game. My vote would be for the adventure version but I can certainly understand if people would rather play vanilla.

Darkwind January 15th, 2009 11:53 AM

Re: Chronicles_EA: Second-pass Signup and Discussion

I'm fine with either Faerun. I guess I'll throw in my vote for the Adventure version--it could certainly result in some epic battles.

Tifone January 15th, 2009 12:29 PM

Re: Chronicles_EA: Second-pass Signup and Discussion

I'm for the adventure too, it's a game in which epic battles are much more RP-important than balance, and hey, I'll never win a game anyway, and surely not one with practically half the Hall of Honour

I hearby accept this glamorous and highly paid position and all the associated perks that come with it. That said, if someone who has actually created a game before wants to do it I won't stand in your way ;) Otherwise eh, theres a reasonable chance that I won't accidentally esplode the Llama server and dominions as a whole.

So it seems that the Faerun Adventure map is kinda popular. Any objections to using that? Mod-wise I take it we're just using the new CBM 1.4?

If there are no objections to the map I guess I'll create the game in the next day or two and we can get this thang on the road. I'm pretty confused what the deal is with the wiki though. Does someone still need to create a Chronicles EA hub page for us to post on or have I just missed it?

*uses the reins superglued to his hands as a whip to start imposing his dictatorial ambitions*

I for one welcome our new communist overlord, and have no objection to Faerun Adventure.

As for the wiki, you should probably send Ich a message; he seems to be the one with all the know-how.

No, you'll not gonna make it explode don't worry ;) It's easy and straightforward.
I had created a game in the past but I want you to do that so you learn :D Jokes aside it's simple and you'll have even fun possibly, but if after you created the game you want a deputy to help you taking care of delays and special requests in case of need, you can give me the pass and I'll be glad to help you eventually :)
