Re: Laurus : Game On!
Ugh.
Game over for Man. We just lost 90 of our provinces to R'yleh's sneak attack. We'll fight back, but it's not looking good. On an admin note. 48 delay as requested new 48 hour hosting cycle as requested Jazzepi |
Re: Laurus : Game On!
Well, I have to admit, I wouldn't mind throwing in the towel in this game. Gath is doing fine but the dynamics of the game seem to make it kind of pointless. I have no way to get into the ocean and don't see anyone else who can, and the only way to expand at this point is to attack land neighbors, which just makes it easier for R'lyeh like what happened with Ermor. I just see R'lyeh winning this game no matter what happens - This is first MP game I've been in with LA R'lyeh and I think its too unbalanced especially without having any nations with decent recruitable underwater units in the game and with this map. And I think Incabulos has done a great job strategically / diplomatically getting on land and taking out weakened nations. :)

I don't think R'yleh is too terribly unbalanced, this map was just a horrible decision. Ry'leh had access to attack any and every land nation instead of having to chew inwards from a single coast. I thought that would be a disadvantage, but it turned out otherwise. There were also simply too many water provinces. Jazzepi |
Re: Laurus : Game On!
Exactly, they border every nation and can pick who to attack at any time. And with graphs off, they have the best intel. And with no other nations in the game with recruitable underwater troops - Mictlan, Atlantis, Patala - nobody can take the fight to them. Basically they can just pick land nations off as they see fit.

Re: Laurus : Game On!
I am also willing to cede victory to rlyeh.
I had a bad start due to missfortune, and after that ermor decided that they will use their last breath to raid me :(. It seems that rlyeh considers me so weak that they rather attack man first as they know they can take me whenever they like. |
Re: Laurus : Game On!
I wouldn't mind seeing some last turns posted if we are to stop here,
I'm started towards news of the greater world as I at most controlled four provinces. |
Re: Laurus : Game On!
Yeah the extended coast was a strength not a weakness.
I spent the first part of the game just recruiting the tentacled priests and building temples so I could push my dominion. I will post info/ a turn file once I know the game is conceeded. I certainly would have had a much harder time in a map with more ocean but less coast. At least my opportunity to attack would have been more limited making my chaff much less useful, and attacks like the one I just launched against man impossible. |
Re: Laurus : Game On!
I think its conceded unless anyone objects. I had the sense Gath was probably in the best condition to stop you (we had Arcos and Ctis capitals) but with no land border and no W mages and crappy gem income in spite of searching everywhere (I think I counted 19 Gnome Lores and +3 E income :( ) we give up!

Re: Laurus : Game On!
I'm for conceding.

Re: Laurus : Game On!
No objection to declaring R'lyeh winner.

Re: Laurus : Game On!
Congrats Incabulos - I'd be curious to see the last turn file too - esp since graphs were off. Despite the crazy map / setup, I thought it was a fun game.

Re: Laurus : Game On!
Thanks :)
Here is my trn file. I was 1 turn away from dreams of r'lyeh and was then heading for the spell that affects coastal provinces. To bee honest for the longest time I wasn't sure who I had NAPS with since I think a couple came through in game messages which really confuse me since I have no record of them :/. One of my biggest issues was actually forsaking research for so many turns so I could really push my dominion with the little purple priests and build temples almost everywhere. I had terrible luck in the void gate.. (maybe I mentioned that in the previous post?) |
Re: Laurus : Game On!
Grmbl. I noticed what danger you'd become already lots of turns ago, when you stepped on land close to Agartha. But noone wanted to listen, they just wanted to complete their puny wars, while the evil from the deep grew and grew.... :)
Yay, no objections to curse R'lyeh with winning :p |
Re: Laurus : Game On!
Weird I thought I added the trn file to that last post, will try again when I get home :)
Aye Toran I was surprised I wasn't kicked into the ocean at that early point. Grabbing Mictlan's capital was a real help. Getting Ermor's capital was a good thing to those 15 death gems a turn would have been real useful down the road. But really apart from territory gain to spread dominion forts on land for r'lyeh are pretty useless as far a troop generation goes. At one point I stopped bui8lding temples because I thought it was too obvious how far it was spreadingbut I guess I was the only one with that vantage point. Graphs off really helps a hostile dominion nation like R'lyeh. |
Re: Laurus : Game On!
I tried to get a land alliance going to threaten a mass war (not that we could do much underwater but still). When nobody signed up and Man got jumped, I figured it was hopeless. I wish I had a land border with you....I am surprised R'lyeh did so well on land - I find their land combat ability in another game horrible and expensive.

Re: Laurus : Game On!
Did you zip the turn files before you attached them?
The forums don't accept just any kind of file, see the "valid file extensions" field when you attach. |
Re: Laurus : Game On!
I didn't. I should have thought of that! Thanks.

Re: Laurus : Game On!
So that's why I haven't received a single turn in 2 weeks...
