Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Zeldor has kindly asked me to find a sub for him due being busy with other stuff - the game has also been postponed for bit more. I have no idea of his situation, but if anyone knows someone who's willing to sub, give me a message on IRC please.

Zeldor February 6th, 2011 06:38 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Well, just much less time and much less consistent - preventing me from playing on the level that's expected from me. And I hate asking for extensions and slowing down the game - I know how other players hate it. So I'm taking some break from dominions, no idea how long. Too bad, I really like Yomi's potential with research like that :)

Zeldor February 6th, 2011 09:05 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

mcsfish:

Well, how is offering trade extorting? I simply offered a deal, he refused it. He was so infuriated by the fact that I did not agree to his terms that he decided to violate the NAP. Machiavellian diplo is one thing, being childish is another. Apparently rabelais is so fixated on himself that he cannot see that.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

why wan't the game delayed?

rabelais February 7th, 2011 11:22 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Zeldor, just stop with the constant lying and deception. It's tedious. If you wish to discuss my conduct, do it with me. I wasn't infuriated you refused my terms. I was infuriated you spent the whole game extorting me while having poached one of my provinces ... all while playing the victim.

I'm not suggesting your behavior was outside the scope of "Machiavellian Diplomacy" just that it was asinine and had sufficiently compromised my pleasure in the game that to restore it I had to focus exclusively on killing you. I bet that happens to you a lot.

ghoul31 February 8th, 2011 08:43 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

So what is happenening here? Are we just going to let a nation with 22 provinces stale the rest of the game?

Quitti February 9th, 2011 09:49 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Which nation would that be? How come the nation would stale for the rest of the game? Have I missed something?

I'm willing to sub if you still need one.

Yes, we still need a sub. I'll PM you.

And I guess you don't have a sub.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Greetings, I've taken over Yomi. I've had no contact with the previous player, so please PM me re: any NAPs, wars, or proposals for that matter.

All NAPs shall be upheld. To those who show friendship, Yomi shall prove itself to be a friend. I shall be contacting my direct neighbors soon to discuss issues of mutual interest.

rabelais February 14th, 2011 09:17 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

I would just like to say that I am finding this game frustrating. I keep moving my armies back and forth. first to fight ulm then to kill zeldor then back to defend aganst agartha, now back toward yomi, now Maverni seeks help against niefel. My troops are really well traveled, but havent gotten much productive fighting in since the fall of Helheim.

Anyone want to *promise* to remain enemies? I'm just so confused.

Aethyr February 16th, 2011 01:18 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Abysia, we appreciate your kind reply to our message and we hope you will choose friendship rather than aggression. If not, well the Oni are born and bred in fire, and the element holds no terror for us. :)

Agartha, Mictlan, Arco, Sauro, well met! We look forward to discussing issues of mutual benefit soon. Check your PM's please. :)

T'ien Ch'i, we hope your weary travelers find a place of rest sometime soon. ;)

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

I've postponed the turn by 9 hours, since I'll be busy at the uni to pretty much the original hosting time and I couldn't finish my turn before getting to lectures.

Maerlande offered to sub for R'lyeh for a turn or two (until monday) - does anyone object to either this or simply postponing the turn until next monday evening US time?

Quitti February 17th, 2011 07:06 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

As I honestly cba to start swapping emails for a player for just one turn, I've postponed the turn by 72h so R'lyeh will not miss any turns or get confused about this. Enjoy the weekend :)

Thanks very much !

I played my turn sunday evening and I'm now ready to play normally ...

Very sorry about this

Ghoul31, that's a nice force you've put together--I was totally unprepared for your magi. I was prepared to loose some troops just to mix it up a little and draw you out, but I did not anticipate the absolute devastation you'd bring with all those gifts of heaven. Well done.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

You seem to have a silver tongue, turning my friends into enemies.

So anyone thats wants to help me finish off Yomi, let me know.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Hey everyone, just thought I'd let you know that I'm going away for the weekend and wont' be able to access Dominions while I'm away. I've sent in this turn, but I might not be back before the next turn expires. I don't really think I need an extension anyway, seeing as I'm pretty much defeated at this point.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know.

Quitti, could you please add 6 hours to the timer for the current turn? Thanks

Hello All.. Just got the turn. I see that there has been a bunch of delays lately, but could I get 12hrs? I might not need them, just want to get caught up.

Thanks.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Not much of a turn over...Anyone I am allied with, or at war with?

If someone attacks, I guess I know who I am at war with. :)

Quitti March 15th, 2011 07:37 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

No idea about the state of your nation. I guess you don't need that 12h since you've submitted that turn (I already postponed it by 24h once I changed the email address).

nerozero April 5th, 2011 08:10 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Hi guys, I'll be going away tomorrow on a skiing trip, and won't be back until late sunday. I'll be able to send in the next turn, but after that I'll need an extension.

Seems sort of stupid to postpone the game just because of me, since I'm in no position to win anything, but I'll leave that up to you guys, if you want to put me AI or give me an extension then either will be just fine with me. I'd obviously prefer to play it out though.

nerozero, I don't think you should go AI or have to stale. At least you are getting your turns in on time, and have asked for an extension.

It would be nice to actually see the turn host however, what's up with the consecutive bumps to the timer? Do we need subs for R'lyeh, Sauro, and Atlantis because of multiple stales? I have not moved more aggressively because I don't like to take unfair advantage of this sort of thing, but my benevolence has limits. :D

Seriously, what is going on?

Quitti April 6th, 2011 01:39 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Sauro wanted an extension, and it didn't seem like everyone wanted to submit their turn in time either. I'm giving them slightly more time to get the turns in. If nothing shows up, I'll ask someone to set people AI or sub for them.

nerozero: I'll try to make sure the game doesn't host more than once while you're gone. It'd still be nice to keep the game going. Depends a bit on how active those semi-away players seem to be.

nerozero April 6th, 2011 03:15 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

That sounds fine by me, thanks!

Quitti April 9th, 2011 02:45 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

So, since atlantis and r'lyeh both seem to be MIA, I'll ask around for sub today for them on the IRC and if I can't find anyone, I'll ask someone to set them AI.

Squirrelloid April 11th, 2011 12:17 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

I am sort of stepping in for Atlantis because it looks like a heroic last stand. I reserve the right to go AI at any time.

If anyone has diplomatic agreements with Atlantis, please let me know.

I assume Rlyeh and Oceania are both at war with me? If not, or if the owner of one of those powers would like to make peace, contact me.

Note that since this is a heroic last stand, i will try to hurt anyone who takes offensive action against my territories or my peoples. The former atlantis obviously had no clue what he was doing, but that doesn't leave me totally without teeth.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

There is a bug with Infernal Disease, it doesn't cost any blood slaves. How do we deal with this? I suggest giving the blood slaves that should have been used to an AI.

Quitti April 14th, 2011 02:59 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

While I'm generally against house rules of indeterminate kind, I'll agree to that in this case.

If you cast infernal disease, to make the play fairer, be a gentleman and give an AI player 7 blood slaves. Sauromatia would work in this case at least. 7 is the intended cost in 1.7x CBM.

I cannot force this, and I will not check this. But it'd be fair play, as far as anything in dom3 can be considered fair play.

Doh, for some reason I thought the game wouldn't host until sunday, oh well. Just letting you guys know that I haven't disappeared.

No worries, from the looks of it we both only lost chaff, fairly expensive chaff on my end I was looking to lose anyways.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

why are we still on 51 hours? Isnt it time we went to 75? My kid is sick my mother in law is in the hospital and its about to be passover.

I vote 75 hours, please.

Quitti April 18th, 2011 02:41 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Since you so kindly requested, I'll postpone the turn by 24h.

Anyway, I'd like to keep it at 51h, but if other people want it to move to ~75h we can do it. Do voice your opinions.

Gweldorf April 18th, 2011 03:02 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

I'll second the request for a longer turn time in general. Things are getting quite complex.

Squirrelloid April 18th, 2011 03:15 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

For the record, when I took over Atlantis I had ~5 items in my lab or on commanders, and I'm hoping one of those was a lucky event. I can't think of a good reason why anyone would actually forge an Axe of Sharpness as Atlantis, at least.

So, as I'm sure a lot of **** is about to blow up in my face, I'd like to think I've done a fair job turning this steaming pile of poo into something that doesn't quite reek so bad you gag.

I do oppose more time though - anything which slows down me getting Atlantis killed off in a spectacular fashion is anti-fun.

Aethyr April 18th, 2011 09:14 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

I'm OK with a longer turm time.

Ths is Squirrelloid's way of telling us that he wants someone to hurry up and finish him off. :)

What, you don't like the BoT? What's wrong with you?

Operation: F- the World, commencing as planned.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Us from Oceania are pleased with Operation F- the World!
Sigh, we have so much in common Atlantis, we both want to see the world burn, why can't we just be friends :)

But but... if we were friends we'd be doing less world burning!

We can be meta-friends who just need to kill each other. It totally works.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Well, all my D gems are going into annoying abysia. It's fun. Anyone feeling like they wouldn't like to throw the game for aby? Join right in! I don't know if I can bash him alone. Burden of Time is a good start. All my shamans have at least 50 years left to live, and all the important ones got enough death magic to prevent them getting diseased due old age. Aby might not be as lucky...

Squirrelloid May 10th, 2011 07:20 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Anti-Aby? Hell no. We're anti-everyone-who-isn't-us.

You want some? Come get some.
