I actually want to get into a war with somebody who thinks that PD really matters that much. As he is likely to be wrong about a lot more. Like that he can beat me :). (Damn I constantly fail one of the requirements for playing in this game...)

iRFNA February 11th, 2011 09:45 PM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Full]

I'll try to fix that

Finalgenesis February 12th, 2011 02:45 AM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Full]

Oh my choice about Land = MA Pan and sea = MA ryleh will need changing.

cbm 1.82 destroyed the strategy I was going to try with MA pan.

I'll stick with just MA ryleh for now and think up a land choice in case someone confirms wanting the water spot.

Admiral_Aorta February 12th, 2011 04:43 AM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Full]

With 1.82 out, we should be ready to start fairly soon, right?

I think so, everybody check if you can accept PM's at this forum. I think it isn't always enabled as a default.

DarkAvenger211 February 12th, 2011 11:45 AM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Full]

Its not. But I can accept them now

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Design Pretenders]

Alright, emailed gandalf. When the server is up, I will PM the port. Get your pretenders ready!

iRFNA February 12th, 2011 12:18 PM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Design Pretenders]

Port sent! Send in pretenders, and please notify me of any changes to your nation in this thread so I can update the OP. Also makes seeing who hasn't submitted a pretender yet a lot easier.

Soyweiser February 12th, 2011 12:24 PM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Design Pretenders]

When you make your pretender, make sure you enable the correct mods everybody.

Pretender sent in.

Same here. I wish you all good luck and have fun! :)

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Design Pretenders]

Ok, since it didn't give me any options for what pretender I am using when I select a nation, I am going to assume that it selects the last pretender that I created for that nation (I guess we'll find out when we start and I see the name of my pretender).

Anyways, I switched to LA Ulm (I started playing them in Single Player and really liked the lore/feel for the nation), and have submitted my pretender.

iRFNA February 12th, 2011 02:55 PM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Design Pretenders]

It only gives you an option if you have more than one pretender for that nation.

This is filling up quick. Just need Admiral_Aorta, Silence0, and DarkAvenger211, and we're good to go!

Good luck then :). For your sake I hope you don't get gangraped. But I doubt we can be friends. (Depending on your dom score of course, if you keep your killer dom out of my lands it might be okey. But I doubt it). No hard feelings of course. I'll be interested to hear your experience after the game.

(In most SP games, LA ermor is one of the few that can kill me. however I myself have never had any real success with them in mp, but I only played them during a blitz once).

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Design Pretenders]

Emergency, a bug that will impact this game significantly just came to light:

Kohen Gadol (the Capital SC/top giant mage for Gath) only cost 40 gold, it cost 400 gold in previous incarnations. It is also sacred H3 (20 gold upkeep anyone?).

Soyweiser February 13th, 2011 09:00 AM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Design Pretenders]

Yeah, this would mean that Gath would totally dominate. What are we going to do about it?

bbz February 13th, 2011 09:37 AM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Design Pretenders]

what about the Gath guy just pick another giant race? Hinnom or Ashdod:)

Soyweiser February 13th, 2011 10:16 AM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Design Pretenders]

I actually wouldn't mind that. Pick Ashdod, go for the race that is banned everywhere. (And don't cast banquet of the dead it sucks :), you lose your d4 mage, and the units summoned are not GoRable anymore). And recruit only one sacred troop each turn because the resource cost is so high. And win.

Hinnom's strong mages generate unrest and eat pop, so that is something you need to think about. (You just dump them in a province with low population, but the unrest generation will remain a problem. Higher unrest makes it not only harder to get gold, and blood slaves, it also decreases the chance of finding stealthy units).

Edit, also, while most vets might not agree, the removal of the hammers hurt the giant nations a lot more than the other nations.

Crap crap. Give me Early Agartha instead.

iRFNA February 13th, 2011 11:37 AM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem: All ages! Madness! [Design Pretenders]

That works, it'll make r'lyeh sweat a bit. However, there's still a pretender in there for gath, might want to remove it.

I think the game admin has to do that.

Ryleh declares that any instrusion into the central waterways will result in cost far exceeding any benefit you may receive in the short term.

lwarmonger February 13th, 2011 10:14 PM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem - Year 1: The Phantom Menace

Ryleh needs to shut its yap and stop writing checks they can't cash. You psyonic zombies freak me out. Lets hear it for some good, old fashioned vampires!

Besides, if everyone decides to land on you early, you don't get to become the astral monster later on in the game.

Torgon February 13th, 2011 10:18 PM

After one turn I can already feel the love.

Finalgenesis February 13th, 2011 10:40 PM

We have to laugh at Ulm's feeble attempt to instigate conflict elsewhere this early on, perhaps if you had actual early water capacity or if your vampires can take baths you could do more then flap that useless tongue?

Hey, it is incredibly easy to talk **** when I am about as far from water as I can get. That being said, we've got enough "partial" water nations in the game you should be uncomfortable.

Torgon February 14th, 2011 02:21 AM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem - Year 1: The Phantom Menace

Werewolves like water too. Too bad my Skratti got slightly nerfed in the latest patch, and I'm nowhere even close to the water.

Oh I doubt comfort is a good mindset when it comes to dominion! :D

That said we occupy a position that encourages mercenary play and active diplomacy, we welcome proposals and communicate of any sort, even if only to gossip. Feel free to catch us on Skype and irc channel too.

Finalgenesis February 14th, 2011 05:21 AM

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem - Year 1: The Phantom Menace

OOC:

A bug has been located for weightless scale armor, which gives -2 encum (but not reinvig, so I don't think your encum can go below 0), doubled for spell casting, useful for old casters or those with base casting encum 4 I suppose. I don't see this as a real problem as even with this perk it's not really overpowered, so those of you wanting a cheap -4 encum armor for caster and have Air access, go for it! This is a friendly reminder so we are all on equal footing, and a chance for anyone to voice out disagreement and move for banning bug finds so we so desire.

Everyone, please post bugs you find in game here in the spirit of gamesmanship (say if you have 1 gold thug... it'll just stink to exploit it while sooner or later everyone will find out. If harmless like weightless scale, bring it up so we can at least establish it as safe). I'll post any new bugs over to QM's bug thread for his attention too.

Re: NewbsWithLowSelfEsteem - Year 1: The Phantom Menace

That will at least help, as CBM made the demon cleansing bell a bit to overpowered.

Ps, if people want to know stuff I suggest you look at the wiki. It is constanly changing. (A little bit each day). And contains a lot of interesting stuff you might not know.

http://dom3.servegame.com/wiki/Main_Page

Allow me to share my recent discoveries:

Astral bless gives MR right? Well, there is a max: 18. It cannot give more MR than that. Even if you get MR from other sources it just reduces the bless part back to 18 max. So no s10 tricks to get my default Raksharaja MR to 20. (Not that I used that of course).

We all know that dragon master works on ice drakes and wyverns. But it also works on sea serpents. Which are already great. Now you can get even more. (If you have a Water and Nature mage of course).

Hmmmm... didn't know that about the sea serpents, know I wish I was closer to the water so I could actually try it out.

Thanks for the tips.
