well, comrade, i've tried a bit of diplo, but no one seems very talkative. maybe this is a no diplo game and we missed it? we can diplo eachother for practice, even tho i have yet to see you anywhere...

phoenix, my guy had that fancy staff from the arena, the fire helmet, was buffed with twist of fate, personal luck, and barkskin, and still got smoked. now abysia is eating my up, one province at a time. i'll hang and fight the good fight tho, try and make Aby work for his money...

I think, I see a problem here..
Anyway, you need at least a vine shield when going against a big group of enemies. And some kind of regeneration.

Greetings Mortals.

Your one true god, Bone Daddy, requires a holy offering from his future victi...err...subjects. Please supplicate yourselves at the nearest Ermorian temple and bring your death gems as a show of faith. True believers will be painlessly sacrificed and their bodies assured a place in our new world order. Our temples can be conveniently located by the swarm of circling buzzards and the stench of rotting bodies.

For the rest of you unbelievers, heretics, and other naughtydoers, who are greedily unwilling to part with their death gems, we're willing to trade water and earth gems. Either send Bone Daddy the gems in-game with a request for the type of gems you want in return or send him a private message.

Iron Order of Ulm just wants to remind you, that the ones dealing with the bunch of ragtag semi-sentinent walking dead calling themselves "Ashen Empire of Ermor", are extremely likely to be eaten by those hungry undead.
Don`t deal with the Devil.

We conferred with our resident expert of death "Baba Yaga" and even she, the "eater of children" stated the the Ashen Empire is far to evil to even talk to. We'll collect your gems when we march into the crumbled capital of Ermor.

Also, the nation of Marignon is looking for smiths of Earth and Astral. We are looking to buy a pair of earth boots and a crystal tower shield. The price for these two items are open to haggling and negotiation, as per the nations' discretion. If you are interested, please send a PM message to me (or an ingame one), and we can negotiate the price.

Hi everyone,

I have a question reagarding a NAP-X. Lets assume I have a NAP-2 with some other nation. If I now send them an in game message cancelling the NAP in turn 22 (which they receive in turn 23), when are I allowed to attack, assuming I want to honor the NAP-2.

So far, I thought that a NAP-x means that x turns have to elapse before attacking is allowed, thus in the above scenario no attack should be made in turn 23 and 24. And in turn 25, attacking would be allowed.

Or is the usual meaning of a NAP-x that in turn x after the cancellation has been sent, attacking is allowed? Thus, in the above scenario attacking in turn 24 would be ok?

Think of it this way, a NAP-0 would effectively mean you don't have to give any notice and can send an attack immediately in turn 22. However, it wouldn't actually take effect until turn 23. So a NAP-2 would mean you can send your attack in turn 24, although your opponent wouldn't see the attack until turn 25.

Legendary League March 12th, 2012 06:39 PM

Re: BSoD (Newbie, LA, CBM 1.92) [Started!]

Yeah, you could've started your attack one turn earlier (since I received your cancellation notice turn...15 I believe).

The cancellation period is basically how much notice the opposing nation gets of the attack before hand (so NAP-0 means attack goes along with the notice, NAP-1 means the turn after they receive the message before the attack begins, etc.). So if they receive the cancellation message on turn 22, you can attack on turn 24. If you sent it out on turn 24 (so they'd receive it on turn 23), then you can attack on turn 25 (i.e. battles can break out, and you can send the orders in with turn 24). Dat make sense? :)

Lets assume the following example:
We have a NAP-x and I send the cancelation to you in turn 15.
According to what you (Legendary) and Revenant wrote, I can give attack orders in turn 15+x.

I think my misunderstanding arises from the me thinking that the battles actually occur in the season (turn) in which the attack orders were given and not in the next turn. If this is really the case, than I would deduce that in the above example, attack orders could be given in turn 15 + (x+1).

But if your interpretation is the one most people share, than thats no problem for me and I will consider it for future NAPs.

Legendary League March 13th, 2012 04:44 PM

Re: BSoD (Newbie, LA, CBM 1.92) [Started!]

In the few MP games I've done before, all NAPs were conducted in the fashion that we have given you (attack orders sent on turn 15+x, provided you also sent the notice of cancellation on turn 15). So an NAP-0 (an NAP with no cancellation period) would thus have no warning from time of cancellation to time of attack, whilst an NAP-1 would give the defender 1 turn of warning, so on and so forth.

Think of it this way. A cancellation period is how much time and warning a player gets that they're going to be attacked. With no cancellation period, the attack is effectively unannounced. With a 1 turn/month period, the person gets 1 turns worth of warning.

Ofc!

EDIT: Ah damnit, you meant this turn. Sorry, was unable to access internets until now (since I had to go on a <10 hour car ride to South Carolina (). To keep this from happening again, I've changed the turn intervals to 36 hours now. If you don't think you can get the turn in on time, PM me ASAP! Stales make everyone sad. Also, would someone else like to help in hosting (an extra pair of eyes to prevent stales/make extensions)?

I check these boards fairly frequently, so I'd volunteer to help. However, I'm not sure how long I'm going to last against Patala and Atlantis. If I get blown out, I probably won't be frequenting this board quite as often.

Re: BSoD (Newbie, LA, CBM 1.92) [Started!]

Bone Daddy requires an answer to the following question:

A certain dastardly nation that will go unnamed (but whose troops enjoy long, cold walks on the beach and are exceedingly ugly) has recently, and malevolently seized one of my fortresses of peace-loving undead -- destroying all of my troops in the process. This was quite traumatic because many of those troops were still getting over their original deaths (it's hard to be undead sometimes).

Anyway, this nation is rather formidable and I'm having complications in stopping them. When you read our AAR you'll understand why, but suffice it to say they are not an undead friendly bunch.

They are quite close to our capital, but fortunately, the all-knowing and all-powerful Bone Daddy has a brilliant plan: He's going to send waves of attacks at the occupied fortress from every direction to force these amphibians into smaller contingents if they have any hope to advance. This will, hopefully, make them more bite-sized and complicate their supply situation, but we're not sure if this violates any game rules since it can be construed as a type of blocking, albeit conditional blocking. Is this a legitimate tactic?

Re: BSoD (Newbie, LA, CBM 1.92) [Started!]

Is it legitimate?

Yes. :p

No real rules barring economic trades, after all. And it's a valid strategy.

Yeah, it's going to hurt me badly. Not because of final outcome of war - Ermor is having too many problems right now but because of my mistakes and inaccurate analysis of capabilities of defending forces. Let's just say that I really hoped for a blitzkreig. Witch major phase was going to end in 2-3 turns.

Nevertheless, the chance to intercept is lesser than 100%.

So, let's rock.

Personally, I've ended up dropping the roleplay for Marignon. Got clunky with all the diplomacy I've done, and inconsistency in roleplaying is sadface.

Oh Come on. Those aren't the real bad Zmey's. These are the little cousins from my national spells..

The nasty ones are Conj6 and require F4. I can only Wish I had the ability to produce those things.

Re: BSoD (Newbie, LA, CBM 1.92) [Started!]

Now that I've digested dinner. I have time to explain a bit more. Apparently either LL's spies didn't tell him the whole story or like a good politician he likes to leave important bits out when telling his story to the board.

As you all know there is a big bad dragon called a Zmey. He's a CONJ6 spell and requires an F4 mage.

There is also a much lesser Zmey that is a Bogarus national summons. He is significantly less powerful than his cousin. He only requires an F2 mage and a lower level on the CONJ scale to achieve.

I have the lesser guy. I can 100% guarantee you that others in this game will get the stronger Zmey LONG before I do as I am nowhere close to producing an F4 mage and I would be at CONJ6 for quite awhile.

And to save LL the trouble when (And IF) the time finally comes that I get the real ZMEY. I'll happily post it on the board so y'all can get the accurate information.

Cheers!
