I'll get my empire in tonight.

Hopfully I'll hear from the USA Captian about what sort of Empire I should be turning in. But I'll get one in either way.

As it is, I feel a little disconnected.

Game has started.

Of course, the US team is on the West, while the LT team is on the eastern side of the map.

Sorry Team, I somehow managed to screw up my password and it will require a manual turn execution to reset. First turn will be run by the AI. Hope it builds colony ships!!!

Everybody is ready except Gandalph but as he leaves the first turn for AI we probably should run the turn manually.

Re: Lithuania vs USA Challenge - USA Thread

Loser, PM me the name of the system which puzzles you.

For a map of this setting, the worse start I saw was Murden in PBW total annihilation. His only homesystem had a random system wide move 1 each turn. He was a newbye, and he discovered that it applied also to units.
So each turn he looked sadly at his mines drifting away, as were later a few sats and a cripled warship of him.

Last : defensive players will go to hell.

EDIT : ok, I loaded the map into the mapeditor and pinpointed the location of one of your homeworld with the player order. I feel sorry for you (trying not to laught). But you'll have to live with it. In fact it could be worse : think about Geoshmo in Return to Orion with his only homeworld located in a shieldless system, and with an agressive alien just 1 system away using...organic armors.

I am really sorry, but your situation really gave me a good laught.....

Hey...can any of you tell me where to look for long term guilding with this game? I'm fairly convinced it will be a staple for me for years to come. I'm an avid turn based Strategist gamer for many years...TalonSoft stuff and the like...and this one seems to fit the bill remarkably in it's replayability and enthusiast base...So where should I be looking?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Not sure what you mean by "guilding". Could you elaborate?

jfp3 September 24th, 2003 06:41 PM

Re: Lithuania vs USA Challenge - USA Thread

Sure..by guilding I mean permanent teams who play together or against each other all the time. Or is the community basically a guild by itself in size? I thought I saw something that was like a "Galactic Sized" map (meaning like 100 generated maps with front lines etc), that must have many players playing at same time.

Also...can anyone tell me what are the most "essential" mods? Shipsets? I see Atrocities (for instance) has a Phuckload of Sheeyat out there...I just want to know which ones I should grab first...what ones most players would consider the "best"...are some good for AI only while others better for graphics...etc..

Thanks for anyone taking time to answer this.

Re: Lithuania vs USA Challenge - USA Thread

Ok, the game is running fine except the master password I put do not match the Master password Griphin put for the game in PBW. So until a PBW admin update it, I'll process the turns manually. Doing that, there was 2 things I noticed :

gamekid90 : you messed up , your turn was for turn 1 , this is turn 2.

nirtus : your file seems to be from a different executable than this game. Please patch your game to 1.84 ASAP.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That megamap game was discussed, but I don't think it ever got off the ground.

I gather that in the early days of SEIV there were a lot of "teams"/alliances out there (you can still find several websites for them in the SEIV website thread), but I don't know how active they still are.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">TDM is probably the most widely used (and acclaimed) mod. It's major change is making the AI's a heck of a lot tougher. It also includes some new races and shipsets.

Fyron's Quadrant Mods also get used a lot. New graphics, and more hostile terrain (prepare to see your smaller scout ships get eaten by damaging warp points... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif ) Fyron also has a Ultimate Strategies mod that vastly increases the default combat options for ships and fleets.

The biggest mod project going on right now is Atrocities' Star Trek Mod (now at iteration 1.25a I think), using his Star Trek races and all new tech trees for them.

As for shipsets, it's simply a matter of personal taste. Atrocities (aka the One-Man Shipset Design Bureau) has by far the largest number of, and highest quality, shipsets available. At Kuat Drive Yards, you'll be able to see and use Andres' excellent Star Wars shipsets (including the Space Dragons, aka "The Terrors of Lithuania" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif ). Be sure to check out the (once fully, now almost) complete shipset list at State of the Art Spaceyards for all the shipsets available.

EDIT - added links

General and Pablo...thanks much....At this point I'm sorry I jumped into this PBW so fast (just to make sure I was accepted) before I found a Phunky Shipset to call my own~~ Turns out it took long enough to start that I could have found an alternative.

So alas I'm just a lowly Terran (sort of hehe) for this game. I will venture to say though that Venice (where I'm now living) had a serious Naval Republic in Centuries past...and in keeping with that proud Naval tradition -- our current designs are (or will be) rather....advanced~~ http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Any more comments on Mods and stuff are most welcome.

heheh ...you Virginians~~

Hey...what do they mean by "NEO Compliant"?

Renegade September 25th, 2003 11:42 AM

Re: Lithuania vs USA Challenge - USA Thread

Neo Compliant I think means more ship types. Some mods use extra ships types like Scouts, Corvettes, etc and Neo - Standard is the term used to describe these extra ships. There is a sight that has a description and even downloads with neo standard ships list in one of the stickies at the top of this forum.
