Re: OT: How old are you ?

25. I kinda work at a place that is almost a company. No, really...the reality is that vague.

We were poor growing up and isolated. So my first strategy games were ones my friends and I created using leftover toys. We had rules and codes of conduct. Mucho fun. All was going well until the day we decided a trench war would be more fun if instead of math determining kills, we used fire crackers.

Parents weren't in the mood to buy us more figures, seeing we just blew them up, and we weren't about to shell out for them ourselves. Luckily a friend of mine got his first computer...and, well....that is another story.

EDIT: Oh, and since we didn't have outside influences to keep our strategy fetishes alive, my experience is that the game does not make the geek. Rather the geek is either a product of genetics or divine revelation. I perfer the latter.

Ok So I got curious. C-64 came out in '82. So guess you were at least 7. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I gotta agree with DavidG, I'm 28 and only ever saw a 64 in a cupboard. Amiga 500's beat the 64s...
Currently living in Melbourne, Australia but my wife & I have worked all over OZ and some places in Europe as a computer techs.

Well, I'm 39. I'll be hitting the big 4-0 in November. I started out on a Commodore 64 back in 1983, then graduated to an Amiga 2000, then finally to my current Compaq computer. I spent 10 years in the Air Force, and am now working for the State of Florida.

Re: OT: How old are you ?

Well, I was 12 years old and I never had enough money to buy me an Amiga or Atari ST.
I played on the C64(at a friends home) since 1985 (Summer/Winter´Games, GI Joe etc.) but got my own comp in late '87. Aw, that was fun....Pirates!, Vermeer, Hanse, Battles of Napoleon and many many many more good games...my comp went boom in '93 I think...then a few years nothing and since '98 PC.
