No, it got screwed up and I don't have a fresh copy here. I have one at work but have been sick for the Last two days and haven't been there to put it up.

Update on the game between myself and Darkhorse.

After alot of building up of a fleet I am taking it into his systems. A attack force of 30 some odd ships. First battle came at a planet he used to build ships and resupply and so forth. I took out his base, the planet and I believe it was 3 or 4 of his ships without any damage.
I am probably greatly underestimating him and he will wipe me out. But we shall soon see. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

So Zarix looks like we got the record for the longest KOTH game so far. Now if you would just leave you fleet sitting at that warp point perhaps we could increase the record. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Or better yet retreat into that random motion system. Your crews will love you! Just like being on a roller coster

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?

At 102 turns, I was able to pull a victory out over Gandalph in our KOTH game. I had expected to lose, but had a couple of key moments that saved my behind and allowed me to recuperate. Perhaps the initial key event was a small set of ships damaging enough of one of Gandalph's attacks just sectors away from my homeworld. I don't know if that would have finished me, but it would have hurt badly. I had taken a weird angle by using a gas giant race, but I was fortunate to find some usable planets, many far from Gandalph's systems. Funny that we met so early in the game, but we both were very slow to attack. It was a very fun and well-played game, with lots of back and forth battles (mostly in my systems, mind you!!)

Ultimately I was able to strike at Gandalph through the flanks, allowing me to glass enough planets to cut his resource base and general happiness. My guess is that is what gave me the victory. Also was his fleets running short on supplies. I lost to Fyron on this point because my homeworld was very close to his point of attack. However, Gandalph's were 3-4 systems away, so the lack of solar collectors or resupply pods cut his fleets' capabilities, and allowed me to quickly build a fleet in defense. Training played a major factor, as I think his Last push at my homeworld was with a high defense value fleet (natural defensiveness, ECM, stealth and scattering armor) that my fleet and ship training equalized.

I'm happy to step up to the next tier, only to lose again I'm sure, but my hat's off to Gandalph. It was a pleasure to play you, and I doubt I'll get off so easily next time we meet.

I just hope you don't nurse a desire to avenge yourself on me in some other game!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

DavidG, you won. I lost few mineral planets too much. So to pay for the maintenance I scrapped all my space yards and a few other facilities. Unfortunately, it was not enough and the computer started destroying my ships. I had to keep my fleet still because the computer thought that getting rid of minesweepers and repair ships was good a strategy.

Thanks for the great game Zarix. I don't know how many times I thought in that game I was totally screwed and then a few turns later thinking the opposite. The crappines of my fleets certainly kept me hopping. First I resorted to Intell crew inserection and Food poisoning, then ramming ships, then capture ships and finally satellites. It's tough watching you glass my planets while my main fleet is forced to sit still getting trained. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I wonder how many billion people died in that game. hehe. 5 out of our 6 homeworlds gone. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Maybe it's mainly that I see far fewer gas giants than rock. I think I always see far fewer of my type of planets than I do the others. I did eventually find a few with my atmosphere, at least a couple more than I did in previous games.
