Narf, be nice to your cat otherwise on behalf of felines everywhere, I shall instruct it to bite your leg off.
|
Re: 320.2! 301.5, 311.3, 65.4
Perhaps you can curb it's rubbing on things using the Pavlovian behaviorial technique of pounding it on the head with a giant mallet.

Re: 320.2! 301.5, 311.3, 65.4
Bad idea. The cat's rubbing its head on things to leave its scent. IOW, it's marking its territory. If you discourage it from rubbing it may try another method. Not good for the keyboard.
|
Re: 320.2! 301.5, 311.3, 65.4
Hmmmm, cats generally rub their heads to scent mark their territory or as a sign of greeting (if you watch cats, when they walk up to each other, they either hiss and spit, ignore each other or rub heads).
My cat has a new one. Most of the time when you see it, it gives you that "I'm not hungry and your' not interesting" sort of look, but in the morning, it has taken to jumping into the car if I make the mistake (as I often do) of opening the car, and then having to go back to the front door to give the current Mrs GT a goodbye kiss. So far, this has resulted in me getting up to 3 miles into my journey to work, before I have had to turn round cos I noticed a small furry shape sitting on the backseat, or have heard a yowl of discomfort as I took a turning too fast! |
Re: 320.2! 301.5, 311.3, 65.4
Hmm... noting the reaction to Stone Mill's post there seems to be an unwritten rule against applying cartoon violence to cats, or perhaps all household pets, or even all non-sentient beings, or maybe just all non-posting beings, the self-awareness of cats perhaps being subject to some dispute.
That said, let me tell you that a bat-out-of-hell has nothing on a cat-out-of-a-cardboard-box (friend did not wish to purchase a pet carrier). |
Re: 320.2! 301.5, 311.3, 65.4
Loser, I agree with you there. I picked up one of our cats from the farm, it was part feral, and the farmer presented it to me in a cardboard box,
I opened the box in the car, and the cat went off like a claymore, with about the same result. First stop, vets to get the cat injected for cat flu etc and de-fleaed, next stop home to drop cat off, third stop, the doctors, for a lot of patching up etc |
Re: 320.2! 301.5, 311.3, 65.4
The really odd thing is that narf is a mouse who owns a cat...
I mean take a look at all the cartoons with cats and mice, and the cat is always the bad guy... like Tom anf Jerry. Poor Tom was just doing his thing and that bLasted mouse Jerry would instigate a fight, and Tom would get beat up and such all the time. It appears it is in some cases taboo to inflict catroon violence on a mouse as well. |
Re: 320.2! 301.5, 311.3, 65.4
That's great, Gt. I'm laughing quite a bit picturing the farmer offering you an active cardboard box (active for cardboard, certainly) with a variety of different facial expressions. I can't seem to come up with one that actually seems to suite the situation, they all just end up comical.
Then there's Gt, slightly suspicious, accepting a cardboard box that occasionally wiggles and shakes of its own accord. He takes it to the car, sets it down on the seat beside him and prepares to drive off. Then, before he starts the car, he looks down at the box with a thoughtful, concerned expression. He leans over and lifts one of the flaps a bit, sees nothing. The box is still. He opens the box and the camera switches from a view inside the car to a somewhat distant view of the car from the outside, there is a flurry of movement inside the car and it rocks back an forth. Screaming and yowling can be heard, loud, but from afar. And the cat is making a lot of noise too. Now, the really fun question, how did the farmer get the cat in to the box to begin with? |
Re: 320.2! 301.5, 311.3, 65.4
My wife's cousins (three brothers) are all deaf, and their parents are elderly and don't hear too well either. They once left a drawer open, their cat crawled in, then someone closed the drawer with the cat inside. Two days later, their mother opened the drawer. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif
The cat assaulted the old lady, then took off. They couldn't find her (the cat) for days afterwards. |
