Congrats to Primitive. You get Cheeze now.
Gozguy, I don't have anyone for you at the moment. As soon as I do though. My game against Nodachi is zipping along. We got a lot of turns in over the weekend. Preacherman? You still awake up there? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Geoschmo |
Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
The anticapation is mind numbing. BTW I have 2 losses Asalma was the first.
Both of my opponets have stated I started with a bad position in comparsion with them could this be true or are they being kind to me? Should we playing on a set of standard maps to equlze starting position? |
Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
I don't really want to use a standard map. I like the randomness of things. It should even out over all your games.
I suppose I could make up a new quadrant type or use something like Fyrons paradise quadrant that has less of a chance of bad systems. Geoschmo |

Finally... an opponent for Cheeze.
I was beginning to think everyone was in fear of the hideous yellow calcium enriched wrath! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |
Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
Goz, fixed the standings.
Also, I don't mind at all if people want a premade map for their game. That's certainly an option if you can agree on it. I simply don't think it's something that should be mandated. I would just hate to play every game on the same map myself. A random map made by a third party that has been reviewed and given roughly equal starting positions is as acceptable option. Geoschmo |
Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
Update on my match vs Thermodyne:
As far as the "starting positions" concern, I was sweating bullets... My position was in a weird pipeline of at least 10 connected systems. With every warp, I held my breath that I would encounter Thermo, and the game would be over because I would be chocked off from the rest of the map. When I finally reached the gateway system, we met, (but it was an unarmed long-range scout). It was pretty obvious that his starting point was a good distance away. I established some position and have some breathing room to operate. In the initial sparring, it has only been small scale. I have a feeling that fleets will be bashing heads soon enough. I'm trying some new things this game. One thing is not investing in DUCs right away and investing the points into another weapon type- (no... not PPBs, although I usually do that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif )Thank goodness Thermo is a long way off or his ships would have clobbered mine. And yes, of course, I have stacked my combat stats and am now playing berserker for the first time. |
Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
not going DUC is a pretty hard gamble (meson comes to mind as the only other fast option) finding your enemy next to you and not having DUC's is bad!

In the game I'm in with Gandalf we're quite close... but that's all part of the fun.
