I needed 7 friends. 20 fingers and toes per person. That makes 140. Then I had to have an extra friend to get the extra 2 fingers. Thus making a grand total of 8 friends. Am I right?

Maybe only three friends.

One for the hundred's place.
One for the ten's place.
And one for the one's place.

Then they don't even need toes.

It's hard to count on toes anyway. They don't bend nearly so well as fingers.
