Any advice is welcome.

The Warlord edition is also quite a patch on the original game. They fixed some things, added some very nice features. Definately get that Version.

While Medieval is nice, the overhead (moving units around every dang turn) could use a lot of automation. Eventually it drags the whole game down, for me anyway.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely get Shogun instead of Medieval because of the setting (I might get Medieval later if I really enjoy the gameplay).

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Yeah, the boardgame-like GUI is fun at first and easy to learn, but later when the strategic map gets filled with pieces, dragging and dropping them is a real pain, and worse, sometimes some regions get really crowded with pieces and it gets hard to pick out the specific ones that you want.

I recently received an ad in my e-mail about a new strategy game, Patrician 3, which seems to have an interesting concept. Anyone tried it?

well, I still stick to oldies. Today I fired up my old P133 and played MoM for ~12 hours http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

I had videos of White Priestes, Green Elvie and Purple "Death Beauty" submit to my troops.

AoW I/II is a good game but something is still lacking !

I have somewhere close to 200 pc games. It would take me hours to post them all.
And yes, quite a few of them are Shrapnel titles.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Master of Magic is very cool, I really enjoyed the feel of it despite the ludicrous AI... have you tried playing the Dominions II demo yet? Except for the limited strategic map movement, it feels quite a bit like MOM.
