Re: OT: What Do You Do At 4:00 a.m.

When I was in the hospitol back in Oct 2002, they had me in a drug induced coma. I don't remember much about what happened, except that I had a lot of fights with people. I was hit several times, and had the bruses to prove it aftwards. I guess I was not a very nice guy and was acting quite hostily toward people.

Any ways, while I was out, I recall having some of the most vivid dreams of my life. When I would occationally regain conciousness, usally because someone had forgotten to switch out the I.V. and it had ran out, it was like reality was a bad dream. I would wake up and know that I was in a hospital room and would look around and see the nurse or a family member looking at me. Then all I wanted to do was go back to the illusions in my mind because they were so much better than that. I would cry when I would wake up because it meant that the dream was but a dream and the reality of my life was that I was strapped into a hospitol bed in ICU with a very slim chance for surival. (So slim that my family was told to make furneral arrangments.)

I pulled through, and to this day I only remember a few of the dreams, and they seemed more real and were more desirable than what I had, and what I had was real life. Go figure.

The funny thing is, I could still be in that coma and not even know it. Now isn't that a twisted bit of triva.

At 2am if I'm not sleepy I start drinking beer until I am sleepy.
You could cue up Wizard Of Oz to The Dark Side Of The Moon.
Get a police scanner and try to follow the action on map quest.
Think about what Ruatha is doing now 9 hours ahead of you.

Sounds like you were in a bad auto accident?

Once again I find myself unable to sleep and knowing that I must get some sleep in order to fullfill my promised obligations for today. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I hate being the way that I am because if I know I am expected to do something I find that I cannot sleep the night before. Its like I am sliding down a slippery slop toward an abyss and there is nothing I can do to stop my decent.

"Hey Will I need you to help me tomorrow clean up my place. I just got rid of those red neck renters who trashed the place." From that point on my day has been frelled. I cannot say no, so I am obligated to help. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I owe them to much to say no, and I am paying the price now by not being able to sleep.

Do any of you suffor from this afflictions?

Not since college, luckily. Nothing causes Insomnia, at least for me, like knowing you have to get some good sleep before taking exams the next day. Also, needing to get up early the next morning to work, and by early I mean 3.30 in the morning, which I suppose means I work at the time in question.

Unfortunately, to get my wife to work on time, I have to get up at 4:30 am, take a shower, get dressed for work, then after my wife gets ready and gets my son ready, we leave around 5:15 so she can be at work at 6:00. Then I'll park across the street at a Publix and take a nap until 7:30 so I can be at work at 8:00. Let's hear it for an exciting life!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Even though I get up early, I find myself not going to bed until around midnight, unless I fall asleep watching tv in my recliner first. Even with my nap after taking my wife to work, I'm still tired most of the day. To get my 8 hours of "required" sleep in, I'd have to go to bed at 8:30, and that's just too dang early. Heck, my son doesn't even fall asleep until 10:00 or so.

No, I suffored Pancreatitis brought on from acid Ketosis where my body stopped producing insulin which caused triglycerides to be released from my body's store of fat thus causing the pancreatitis. It is considered to be one of the most painful afflications known. It was so painful that my mind could not deal with the pain and I lost all sense of reality. Something that no one should ever have to face. It sucked horribly. But when you begin to regain our senses, you truly start to understand why man is man. Without our ability to reaon, we are simply animals acting on instinct.

One of the things that helps me to fall asleep is to just lie in bed and not move. Moving keeps you awake. Also, distracting your mind using your imagination will probably help.

At that time of morning, I'm usually waking up in order to be at work by five.

I can tell you that this actually happens, since I've slpet over at his house a couple of times and we usually don't go to sleep until 7 a.m. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif At that point, after staying awake for 28 hours, you are little more than a walking zombie. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif
