Re: Advertising Star Trek A New Era

Ok it works like this.

say I generate 50K intel points a turn. I have counter intelligence 3 (In fact I could choose CI 1,2 or 3, but since each point in a partly completed CI3 project counts as 3 point as opposed to merely 1 or 2 I would use CI 3) and have been putting points into a CI 3 project for a few turns such that I have a total of 499K stored in it. The nasty aliens launch an intelligence attack at me with a project worth 10K points. My CI 3 project is reduced by 10K/3=3333, so at the end it now only has 495.7K.

When you start Intel attacks try launching a lot of expensive ones to reduce their defences so that the Intel attacks you really want can get through (only if you reduce all their CI to nothing) Either launch lots of attacks in a row if you have massive amounts of intel points, or cue them all up to be completed at same time (by sharing the points among them eg Have 5 projects sharing the points each turn so that the turn they all finish you suddenly attack the other person with practically 5 times as much as you generate a turn).

Anyway, say I forget to move my CI project to the end of the list and it is completed the beginning of the next turn NO!!!!, I just lost the 500K points I had stored. When this happens you get a message saying your CI project was unsuccesful. Well it was damn well working till it finished. Don't ask me why it's set up this way, Intel is considered to be flawed as generally those with the most points can gang up and decimate the opponents Intel efforts.

Edit: If I might suggest, you can read the newbie FAQ sticky. I didn't even know CI had an inherent +20% modifier.

saying intel is flawed... that is why i dont even bother to play with it...

I guess I will just have as I said a few intel generating things, and then make them just produce 12x ci 2 as i think that is all that is allowed as orion...

also last question, what changes shall I make to upload my files? I amnot sure what is allowed :S I guess I disable the 2 , research and pirate colony tech, but I was wondering what does this actually do?

Thanks

Re: Advertising Star Trek A New Era

You guys should try the Leaky Intel system.

Remove the Counter Intel, and make Intel Sabotage much cheaper.

Then adjust the prices of the remaining projects to match their intended difficulty. The more turns it takes to complete the projects, the more likely it is that someone will manage to sabotage it.

I also reccommend reducing the effect of many of the projects, since they will be easier to complete, overall.
