What is annoying is that instead of just simply ignoring my misinformed comment because it was misinformed it gets raised to the level of an "issue that will be monitored". It would have been easier to just let it slide because I was mistaken. Instead I'm turned into a paraiah. Gee thanks guys!

110% agreed.
Regretfully, overreaction seems to be the SOP over here, my friend... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

We are all waiting with anticipation but when the explaination about a delay came out, a simple apology would be in order and then it would be a done deal. In the big scheme of life, it really is very small. You could be packing and leaving from Rita right now http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Re: About Patch or Version 2.0

Guys,

I apologize for the lack of information on the delay in the patch, but I am sure everyone here will be happy with the end result. The release is queued for next week and I will post more details when a date is finalized. I can understand the frustration on getting the fixes, and new features, out now so everyone can enjoy them. Making sure all of our customers are 100% satisfied is job number one at Shrapnel Games. To alleviate that frustration I will make sure we have an exact date firm date before I post another date in this thread.

One thing to keep in mind that in software development a last minute bug can always be found by a QC/QA team at the very last minute that can put a monkey wrench into everyone's plan. So even after I commit to a date, anything can always happen. My full time job is at a Fortune 25 company, where I am involved in different elements of software development, QA, and Project Management. I would be a rich man if I had a dollar for every time something like this put a release off a day, a week, a month, or more.

Again let me get a firm date and I will let you guys know. The new date probably won't be posted until after the weekend.

Thanks for everyones patience.

Richard,

Thank you so much for your kind attention. It is most appreciated.

I can only speak for myself, but I think the problem is not how much I'll have to wait - I have no problem with that - but that we have been kept in the dark, and then been labaled guilty of not knowing what is going on...

A kind, calm, and educated answer like yours is all that we, as customers, want to hear.

Again, thank you so much.

Going to a trip this morning, off until sunday evening... Atleast I'd have a motivation to get home earlier;o)

And if the patch won't still be published by that time... So what? Programming is a black magic to me, so I leave it up to professionals:o)

Not to distract anything from the notice Richard gave, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't speak on my behalf. This customer is one who doesn't demand answers but is perfectly happy to wait it out and who can accept that the staff has better things to do (like fixing the bugs and getting on with RL) than babysitting anxious users minute to minute.

And to set one thing straigth, you were NOT misinformed. It was clearly stated that the patch would come out before the end of the week. Before the end of that week the bug was found, a message concerning it posted and the subsequent delay of release (as further testing is needed) announced.
Your mistake was not because of misinformation but because of misjudgement.

Re: About Patch or Version 2.0

Come on guys, we wait a week more then we play like hell with WinSPMBT 2.0.

I am sure that:
1. Don and Andy and the Schrapnel staff do their best to please us - their customers.
2. I am sure those that stated their opinion more harshly then usual were just to eager to get the long-waited patch.

Let us not leave from here with a bad feeling. If Schrapnel inteds to keep on supporting WinSPMBT (with new patches etc) we need to build up a strong community with a lot of players , scenario designers, tournament organizers, etc, while Don and Andy do some more improvements to the software. (I have some suggestions http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ) We are one team.

Artur.

Artur is right. There is no point in keeping this going on anymore.
