My atm card used to just be a Switch debit card - I could use it to buy online (or in regular high street shops for that matter), but only if it was in UK pounds.

Switch has always been able to be used for different currencies. The problem is banks tend to be more expensive when using it like that - they'll charge you a fee to convert the funds, use their own (worse) exchange rate and round up to the nearest pound to boot. It wasn't bad with the Doms 3 pre-order (though it was a Maestro by then), but I remember buying something for $20 (about £15 at the time) around 6 years ago with Switch, and finding that the cost including the bank's fees was somewhere in the region of £25.

Hrm, I wasn't able to when mine was still Switch. Maybe it was my specific type of account or something, but I always had to borrow a family member's credit card if I wanted to pay for anything in $ etc.

You need a "regular job" to qualify for a credit card.

What da Flying Fu-- I mean, Flying Dragon?

...Weird Finns...

I personally find retail game stores very frustrating, the shop assistants rarely know very much about anything. They are all turning into console game shops for kids and PC games are being relegated to a darker and darker corner of the shop.

Depends on the shop. Outland back here (fantasy games store) has employes who seem to know a lot about everything.

Hmm, I wonder if I could ask one store where I worked to order the game for me there.

I asked a store to order Dom2 for me, and they said it was not possible, sadly.

Now the only problem (there's always one) is Nerfix's ability to remember where he lives. :p Oh well, in the worst case scenario, he just has to go and ask for his brown-wrapped packet from some unknown neighbour...

Hm, trafficing alcohol or tobacco to minors is a crime. I wonder what the law says about pixelated boobies... Oh my.

In defence of the Finnish credit card system, it's only "steady income" (student allowance is enough) and it's there to keep the nonworking out of credit debt also. Guess we got burned badly enough in the early 90s when people realized they actually had signed papers saying "I back the loan of person X as well as all the loans (s)he takes from this bank from this day on" without actually reading the fine print. The bank cards we have serve everything you'd use credit card for, except for the purchases abroad.
