I see no reason why anyone should have to risk staling on account of a weekend trip. I'm all in favor of stopping the timer for a day or 2.

I agree and in the spirit of the slow game, I will set it to quickhost only.

Thanks for the effort guys. I was going home to my folks for the Bachelor party of my sister (well, the one of the guy she's going to marry), so the idea was to stay over at my folks for the nights before and after that. But since it got quite fun, and quite late/early, I decided to skip bed and come straight back to my place with the first train of the day http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. I'll be playing my turn soon.

Also, I can warn you already: In two weeks I'll be gone a couple of days again for another party http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Why not leave it just on no timed quickhost? So far everyone seems to be getting there turn in pretty fast.

If a player starts stalling, you can switch the timer back on.

I dont mind either way.

Anyone else have an opinion?

I would prefer to keep the timer on, but I won't complain either way.

Speaking of which, I probably need to take my turn.

keep the timer on unless someone askes for a temporary pause and have a reason why they can't do a turn.

Re: 10 player hosted middle era slower game

I consistently have a devil of a time get my turn file downloaded from this server - is it just me or do the other players have the same problem? I have yet to get a full download of the current turn (#8, I think), using 2 different computers on 2 totally separate net connections. If the early (100kb) files are this much trouble, what will it be like when the files are 500-1000kb?

I ask because I'm going to need a replacement in this game. I've had a ton of long-term workload dumped on me, and I need to cut way back on extraneous activities for a while. But I want to be able to tell potential fill-ins what they might be getting themselves into.

I also had this problem, but later on it went well (mayb it was a temporary thing)

I'm having no problem at all. (and my computer is piss-poor, and needs serious replacing)
