Another way is to have high enough defense and MR. After all, if he cannot hit you, then it does him no good. That combined with Mage Bane will certainly kill any pesky horrors.

It takes me about an hour to 1-1/2 hours to play a turn. But I am a fast turn taker. the 45min hosting time is what bothers me.
