Still room? I'll take Pythium.

Well, I have largely written a program, but I just realised it doesn't differentiate between water and land provinces (I assume you meant less than three neighbours of the same land/sea type). By the way, do you really mean less than three, or "three or less"?

Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Cool that you did it. I meant "two or less" but "three or less" will also be fine.
As for water provinces, I think, it's also doable, isn't it? |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Yeah, it's doable, I just thought I'd better stop cos I'm at work!

are we gonna use the worthy heroes mod Ano?

I don't mind if nobody does.

If the script doesn't want to handle the water properly because of land connects, that much can be edited manually in just a few minutes. Yes, I am volunteering myself, if that's what you're going to ask. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Yes, this can be done manually, but llama's script will be a very useful tool once he finishes it. For now, yes, we may even assign starting provinces manually.

Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Tried to specify starting locations but ran into the following problem:
Is it possible to specify a set of possible starting locations from which starting location for specific nation will be chosen? #specstart should have 2 params to work: nation number and province number. What should I do if I don't want to link starting location to specific nation? If it is possible in no way other than marking each province out of this set with #nostart, I really don't like it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Well, it's likely a much more complicated script, but it would be interesting if it could be automated in such a way as to make fair and balanced (static) start positions. So, it would eliminate all territories with 3 or less connections, then determine loosely (based on a specified number of nations) the average spacing to make them all roughly equidistant, and especially to insure that all capitals are at least 3 provinces from eachother. I am sure this is far too complicated for anyone to just sit down for 15 minutes and bang out, so it's just wishful thinking, but it sounds neat. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif I mean once it was doing all that, it could probably even go down the list based on number of connections, so it would look at say, provinces with 7 neighbors, and see how many could work together as capitals, and then fill the rest of the list with 6 neighbor spots if possible.
Forgive my blathering, I am much better at speaking and typing, than programming. Well, I'm much better at just everything other than programming..... but I don't hold it against myself. >.> |
