Is growth 1 needed to increase population? I noticed my population dropping from my bloodhunting, but not repopulating when there is no bloodhunting or patrolling going on.

Personally I don't see much of a chance to have a good mid and late game as abyssia without using an awake rainbow pretender.

Without a good rainbow site searcher, your just not going to have enough gem income to compete after early game. And the single biggest thing that can scale your strength early game, finding a good indy mage site, is also very unlikely to happen without a rainbow pretender.
