The processing times are one thing. It doesn't even run that well on a relatively powerful machine. And SE4 has a ton more shipsets to choose from, plus shipsets are easier to make.

I also like the feel of SE4 better - we often play hotseat games and tactical battles are a big part of that. IMO SE6 could even keep the 3D combat engine, but go back to turn based instead of realtime...

I'm still around. lurking. working on SEV strats. I mainly hang out with the BM crew for SEV nowadays. SEV was such a momentum killer for the SE community with its general design issues. BalanceMod is the only thing truly saving SEV. I miss SEIV. I just love the space combat in SEV. The only thing keeping me from SEIV is the fact that no future updates are planned to bugfix issues to allow some important changes by mods. Would be nice if Aaron considered turning SEIV into an open source project among the long time mod developers of the game so we can bugfix alongside with him.

I'm not around, but I am checking things out. :) Was looking at some of the stuff from Infinity Universe and for some reason, felt compelled to drop by and look around to see what SE's done in the past few years.

Either that or it was the Steam sale I saw this past weekend that included SE games in the packages. :)

Hope everyone's still doing well. I'm shocked that Shrapnel is still hosting this forum...good on them!

Still around still and playing SE4 PBW games :) not quite as hardcore about it as I used to be though
