By way of an update, I believe one of the refs indicated that the SPIKE LR II will be available to the export market sometime in 2018, that makes think latter 2017 still looks good for IDF. Well hell you know I'm watching it.

Are we concerning ourselves with major assault rifle buys? Lot's going on in this area now.

Pat

It is now official, another Canadian sniper (Joint Task Force 2) has just shattered the longest distance confirmed sniper kill. What does this mean? Well as far as the top five distance confirmed kills go, Canada :first: owns the show with now three followed by the UK and America. OVER TWO MILES/OR 3,450 Meters with a ten second flight time. Bad day to be an ISIS fighter.

TRACKING: The IDF isn't waiting based on current op eval, they are satisfied enough to have put in an order now. This will significantly move up the planned production phase of the SPIKE LR II. Look for POSSIBLE deployment by JUN 2018. Highlights increased range and now we know why, taken out cooling tank for the laser as deemed no longer required in another words the enhanced the laser and increased armor pen with new tandem warhead.

Just checked all my other sources...JANE's has the "news scoop" SO FAR ON THE TOPIC.

Gotta Go!!

To be fair I posted this 'news scoop' on this forum before it was on the Janes site.

I would have posted the Janes link if it had been available at the time. So our forum was ahead of Janes on this occasion. :D

Would not surprise me if the majority of them are added to the Namer remote turret.

Looks like the U.S. Marine Corps is planning to collaborate with the U.S. Army to purchase the Carl Gustav MAAWS.

Don't think this will come to much.

There are 2xSMAWs per Rifle Platoon already, so two of the three Rifle Squads already have a bunker buster/AT weapon the third squad often winds up with a Javelin.

After several years of testing, U.S. Marines have fielded the updated Mk 153 Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon, or SMAW Mod 2.

The new version of the shoulder-fired bunker buster was fielded to II Marine Expeditionary Force in November and is being fielded to I MEF this month, according to Barbara Hamby, a spokeswoman for Marine Corps Systems Command.

“SMAW Mod 2 improvements increase system accuracy, reliability and maintainability, and increase gunner survivability,” Hamby said.

AGS-40 GL. Maybe this year.

ZVEZDA and Interfax have said that the Russian military is expected to adopt the 40mm AGS-40 “Balkan” automatic grenade launcher sometime this year.

The AGS-40 was originally expected to enter service in 2017. It has been claimed that it was tested in the field in Syria.
