This is a good mod for PBW play. Taking away the stock weapons makes empires very different and, therefor, more interesting [shameless plug](same thing I try to do with the Strange series).[/shameless plug]

Because you can open a warp point and move through it on the same turn in a simultaneous game.

I can't explain why Primitives fleet got away though, unless he did have speed advantage. Or perhaps the speed was equal and he was higher on the player order list. Perhaps the stellar manip occurs at the end of the day and just being able to move the same day is enough.

Maybe I should edit my statement to say real stellar manip--stuff messing with stars. I know I've seen BHs created and destroyed on day 30, when the manip ship had only started 1-2 sectors away. Maybe this is one of those mysteries like fleet experience. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Black holes don't require a ship to be in any particular sector, only somewhere in the system. Perhaps because of that they are handled differetly by the code. I don't know, just guessing now.

Re: A Sweet VICTORY by SUMMERTIME - PBW GAME

It was a regular star destroyer, not a black hole creator (Those have to be placed over the sun, right ?). I sent some ships after it (speed 9, 4 sectors away), so they would have got it if it is on day 30. Don't know the speed of the star destroyer though. It was a battleship and Preacher had the technology to build those at speed 11. Most of the ships that got away from warppoint had speed 10 (Dreads).

BTW Krsqk:
What's the mystery of fleet experience ?

The mystery is how it's calculated. I don't think anyone's come up with a convincing formula (or if they have, I haven't seen it posted here).

There is a formula, it is just locked away in the SE4 executable somewhere. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Maybe that's why it's still a mystery. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
