Darkhorse, i dunno what you said. i was actually enjoying the discussion among the services. I agree that the Naval ranks should be used as the Navy would control the ships. The Marines would provide security aboard the ships. The Army would provide the Drop Troops. The Airforce however is not listed in the sci-fi books i have read nor the RPG's i have played. the Navy has its own craft and they piloted the fighters/dropships. though i guess you could put the airforce as the fighters/dropships.

Actually i guess based on this you could use whichever rank you wanted depending on what branch you were in.

edit: guess we can change the name from Airforce to AeroSpace Force.

Maybe the Air Force will be sucked into another branch; after all, it came in large part from the Army. Maybe just atmosphere-based craft--I don't know how practical fighter-sized craft are that would function well in both space and atmosphere.

As it has already been said, space is the "jurisdiction" of the Air Force. It seems fairly obvious to me that since other planets are in space, the Air Force would be the ones to operate there http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I thought the US Space Command was in charge of outer space? Of course, that could be part of the Air Force, for all I know.
