Re: Dragonfire11 pinch-hitting for the Dawg

As your game host, I offer the following options:

1. My son has offered to sub for Pasha Dawg while he is gone. Now, everyone must know what this will mean. Because we have only one CD key between the two of us, we will be forced to both do both turns on my computer. This makes it very hard for us to be at war with each other. However, I currently have a peace agreement with Pasha (Ulm) in this game, so the difficulty in fighting a war should not be a problem in the near term. The other thing is that my son was the first eliminated as Ulm in the Pantheons game when he was hit with a 2 on 1, so maybe Pasha might be a bit concerned about that. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif

2. I can pause the game for ten days. But it will be problematic getting the game restarted in early October as we would have to wait for another Mose Hansen game to either end or pause to open up a slot for me to restart our game. This will likely take several more days of constant checking to make happen. Could be even longer, like a week or so. I do not recommend this option at all.

3. I do not mind Dragonfire subbing, since he is not adjacent to Ulm. I also think that Dragonfire is probably going to be eliminated within the next 10-20 turns anyway. If this option is selected, then Dragonfire must agree to transfer nothing between the two sides. Nothing at all, even a trade.

4. In any event, I can change the schedule to 3 or 4 day QH while Pasha is gone.

Chime in quickly on opinions. I am currently leaning towards options 3 and 4 right now and will go that route unless people post strong opinions otherwise.

Small powers, be aware!

lol, Boerne, I can assure you that the recent move against you had nothing to do with Pasha at all. Opportunity knocked, and had to be answered!

I think that doesn't work. I've never tested this but I've heard that the game won't let you play two positions using the same CD key.

Yeah, I'm worried about this as well. Too many MP games pause and never restart back.

Um, have you seen the size of dragonfire's new army?

Re: Dragonfire11 pinch-hitting for the Dawg

I could possibly substitute for Pasha if y'all don't mind going to 36 or 48 QH while he's gone - I might get all them in within the 24, but would rather not give him a stale turn.

Ulm is one of the nations I've played least, but on the other paw I've played a lot of MP, so...

Up to y'all, and Pasha Dawg.

Re: Dragonfire11 pinch-hitting for the Dawg

It would be great to have someone outside the game to play under Pashas general strategy. I have no problem with a 48 QH while he is gone so that the game is alive but not racing away. So I vote Cainhill taking over.

Reminder, I will be out of town Saturday so if we are not at 48h, I would like to request it. Thanks!

Ah - - - it's wonderful to see everyone coming together and making wised decisions.

I will take Cainehill up on his offer to step into the shoes of the BLACK IRON LORD of ULM!! I will send him sufficient instructions via email. I am thankful for his willingness to step in.

Thank you all. I will be back in the saddle on Oct. 6, fat after feasting on Tuscan cuisine. <Burp>

And Dragonfire... I am hoping to find some sassy (but lawyerly) new ties for Court. I am sure they will have one or two of those in Florence.

Ciao! Chow! Chou!

Re: Stopped Game

Just so's y'all know - I know I'm being a bit slow in taking Ulm's turns, but I'm trying to not let things get too far advanced before Pasha returns. Hope y'all don't mind too much - if I was taking over instead of just subbing I wouldn't be holding things up.

The Panther September 30th, 2004 10:53 AM

Re: Stopped Game

That is a good thing to do, which is part of the reason why I went to 3 day QH while Pasha was gone.

And by the way, thanks for subbing in this game so we did not have to pause.

Um, yeah. Go Arco. And it my giants try really, really hard next turn, they might even be able to finally hit Panther's GK. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Big Fight

Yeah, this game is truly getting fun now! Nice job enlisting allies to save you, Beorne. It sure worked against me, as I have no choice but to leave you alone for the forseeable future.

Now, if only you can get the other two guys fighting you to lay off too, your impending death will have been very premature, just like Ermor who has risen from the ashes!

As for Arco + Jontunheim vs. Caelum, that was an interesting sneak attack the previous turn. I guess we will see how it ends up. Was it 8 provinces you lost, pike? I didn't count and it was hard to tell as I lost several of my own to the giants... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Steerpike October 2nd, 2004 01:17 AM

Re: Big Fight

I'm pretty sure that it was 8 provinces and it wasnt a sneak attack it was a pre-emptive strike. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif I know that I would be the next target after Vanheim fell (paranoid who says I'm paranoid?) so I accelerated the process a little. Mind you I still wake from nightmares of little birds coming from everywhere. Ahh the joys of fighting a flying nation.

This is difficult because the Abysian is very, very stubborn, and I fear the fire lizards a lot.
And for Pythium ..., well he is right, I inavaded him like the barbarians that invaded the Romans driven by the Huns. It was my only think to do.
But I'll not give up until the very end!

24 is favourite but I am happy to be outvoted by a minority on the basis that if it's too fast you may stale/getoverwhelmed but if it's too slow it's only frustrating (Mind you the 72 hours is very frustrating need more fixes..)

Welcome back, Pasha! A lot of fighting in this game while you were lounging in Europe.

A definite consensus of 24 hour QH was apparent in the above Posts. So I have changed it back to that. All of you used to 3 day turns will now have to check much more frequently!

And a big thanks to Cainehill for subbing, which kept us from halting the game.

Hi,
I have a problem tonight.. I can not connect to the game. I get to the point where I can enter my password then it freezes and I get a Nagot gick felt.

I deleted all the files and was able to connect and play...

No idea what is wrong... Do u have any ideas?

The Panther October 7th, 2004 12:38 AM

Re: Pasha Return

I just checked on the game. It is working fine. Perhaps you tried to join while the server was changing the host schedule. That can take a while to implement.

Also, according to the server data, you had already made your move this turn when I changed the schedule. Don't know if that has an effect too.

But once Deccan moves and the turns hosts, then everything should be perfectly fine! (I hope.)

Please Deccan, Show a little compassion for Brothers Ermor and Mictlan. Then gaze with wonder at their army and research statistics. Then laugh at Arcos mountain of a province stat, it goes up and up then down and down. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif Seriously though this war of theirs doesn't seem to be hurting them too much. Not compared to the Caelum Arco war. Caelums Goliath to Arcos David, just remember who won in the end.
